We embody jubilee when we live toward restoration and flourishing for all, when we embrace not only the teachings of Jesus but the way of Jesus. This moment calls us to go Into the Deep We may cast our nets fishing for nourishment, livelihood, vocation, or community. In this series, we will go deeper in exploring passages from the Gospels according to Luke and John with expectation that we will find new meaning, revived direction, and refocused energy for a life in and with Christ.

Recently a group of adults traveled to Richmond to River Road Church, Baptist to hear Jen Hatmaker speak It was a wonderful evening of fellowship along with inspiring words that challenged us to consider what thoughtful faith looks like. We even got the chance to see our own Margaret Ingram as this is the church that she and John now call home. It was such a blessing to be together and share this experience
Sarah Schradin shared these words about her time on that evening:
"I really appreciated it when Jen invited the folks in the audience to call out personal challenges they’ve been facing in their lives and then asked the rest of the room to call out “same” if they’ve encountered the same problem It was eye-opening to hear so many people call out “same” in response to each of the trials listed and a good reminder for how we’re not alone when we’re facing challenges and can look to others in our community for support”
Community gives us a place to exhale, to be seen, and to grow through whatever challenges life may throw our way This evening was a reminder that community can and does extend far beyond the boundaries of Fredericksburg, far beyond whatever generation you claim, and far beyond your own life experience Communities, especially those rooted in faith and united in God, offer a deep well of wisdom and connection that carry you in both the ups and the downs and bless you in surprising and often unexpected ways

The tulips are gone and our planter beds in the parking lot are now brimming with a wonderful assortment of flowers and decorative foliage of all colors, shapes, and sizes that will present a stunning sight later this summer as they grow out. The assortment of varieties helps to remind us of the diversity of the folks in our community and how that diversity explodes in beauty when all are given the capacity to live and grow to their fullest
Many thanks to the following people who provided flowers and/or labor to complete this project:
