Traffic Crimes Unit

AGENCY FIRST

The Traffic Crimes Unit focuses on street racing, deadly vehicular conduct, and reckless driving. The unit’s mission is to reduce fatal crashes and property damage by suppressing illegal street racing and a popular trend known as parking lot and intersection takeovers.

In March 2021, a very popular and well-known annual racing event known as Texas 2k21 was held in Houston. A multi-agency operation was con‐ducted and over 2900 traffic stops were made, over 2300 citations issued, 12 vehicles were seized, and 200+ custodial arrests were made.
