Welcome to Falcon Country Dear Falcon Fans, Welcome to a spring season of promise for excellence and joy: in our athletics program, as in our arts and academic experiences. Thank you for supporting our teams, our athletes, our coaches, and our opponents. Here at Fort Worth Country Day, we have a wonderfully storied and proud athletic history. We are Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) Champions. Our stellar student-athletes have taken their experiences from FWCD to the collegiate level, with others whose careers did not go beyond high school but who benefited from our coaches’ teaching and from the powerful experience of being a member of a team. With their efforts and their attitudes, our student-athletes make us proud. It is such a joy to watch them compete. Our coaches make us proud as well. With high standards of excellence set by Leigh Block, Director of Athletics, we have educators running our practices and guiding our games to get the most out of our athletes. So, as you support the players, don’t forget to appreciate the dedication of their coaches. If you’re reading this program, I’m guessing you are a Falcon fan. We appreciate your support, both the calm, clapping type and the wildly exuberant variety. Our players benefit so much from your presence and your enthusiasm. Welcome Dear Falcon Fans, This winter, our girls and boys basketball, girls soccer, swim, and wrestling teams participated in the Southwest Preparatory Conference Tournament, which we cohosted with The Oakridge School and Trinity Valley School. Seeing our kids compete in the tournament on their home field and in their home gym was very exciting – especially when our Lower and Middle School students came into the stands en masse to support the Falcons during the school day. Winter was a success, highlighted by our wrestling team finishing fourth in the tournament and then sending a half-dozen wrestlers to the state meet and two participants (Jayda Fulp ’25 and Henry Lanzilotta ’22) all the way to Nationals. Jayda was named an All-American wrestler after finishing as runner-up in her weight class at Nationals – and she’s just a freshman! We’re anticipating an outstanding spring season to wrap up the year in athletics. Last year, our baseball, softball, and boys golf teams all won the North Zone and competed for SPC Championships. They’re ready to head back to the playoffs, and our other spring teams will be aiming to join them. Thank you for your support of our student-athletes. They will represent our school with great pride and will compete to the best of their abilities, always demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship. We in the stands will follow suit and cheer for our teams rather than cheer against our opponents. Here’s to a successful spring!
