T

he return of the Alpine Ski World Cup to Friuli Venezia Giulia, after a 15-year absence, is a source of great pride for our community. This was one of the objectives we set ourselves as a Regional Administration, and we achieved it thanks to a major collective effort. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank the entire team that made this result possible: the various Regional Departments, PromoTurismoFVG, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation

(FIS), the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), the Municipality of Tarvisio, the Tourism Promotion Consortium of Tarvisio, Sella Nevea and Passo Pramollo, all the local ski clubs involved, the students of the Bachmann Institute, and the many volunteers. This achievement represents the starting point of a journey we intend to continue over time. Events of this magnitude are fundamental to enhancing and promoting our territory. The organization of the EYOF and other major events has shown that

we have all the credentials needed to host prestigious international-level competitions. Our wish for the extraordinary athletes competing, the members of the accompanying teams, and the fans who will come to Tarvisio to follow the downhill and Super-G races on the spectacular “Di Prampero” course is that they fully experience the excitement of these days, while taking the opportunity to discover Friuli Venezia Giulia more closely—a unique region with an exceptionally rich heritage waiting to be explored.

Regional Councillor for Economic Development and Tourism Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia

It is with great pride that we welcome the return, after fifteen years, of the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup to Tarvisio. This is a recognition of high national and international value for Friuli Venezia Giulia, confirming the quality of the services our region offers to the world of skiing and providing us with an extraordinary showcase to promote our territory.

Friuli Venezia Giulia welcomes with admiration and a touch of pride the return of the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup to the slopes of Tarvisio! Fifteen years after the last edition, the iconic “Di Prampero” course will once again take centre stage in the world of elite skiing and, with its almost 4 kilometres in length, will stand out as the longest track on the entire World Cup calendar. This achievement is not the result of chance, but of a long-term strategy implemented by the Region and PromoTurismoFVG. We have invested with determination in sports and hospitality infrastructure, and by hosting numerous youth sporting events we have demonstrated the professionalism of our workforce and the dedication of our volunteers. If today major events – sporting, musical and cultural – feel at home in our territory, it is thanks to an extraordinary organisational machine, as well as to a natural, historical and cultural setting that is truly unparalleled and that I hope you will have the opportunity to appreciate during these World Cup days. A warm welcome to Friuli Venezia Giulia to the athletes, their teams and all snow sports enthusiasts!

Monte Lussari and the spectacular Di Prampero course – with its 3,920 metres in length, almost 1,000 metres of vertical drop, and a unique variety of jumps, gradients and speeds – will offer an exceptional setting for two unforgettable days of sport. My sincere thanks go to the regional and national federations, to the organisers and promoters who, with the support of the Region, will make this event a guaranteed success. It is with huge excitement that we anticipate the Audi FIS World Cup in Tarvisio. This is a very special place: proudly Italian; enriched by the influence of Austria and Slovenia; outstandingly beautiful and the perfect stage for com petition. Over the decades this has been the backdrop to many thrilling international events – and that magic is set to return in January 2026, when some of the most talented and courageous female athletes in the world arrive in this corner of Italy. Against the majesty of Di Prampero, mo dern-day legends of skiing will showcase their speed and skill – and I can’t wait. On behalf of FIS, I want to thank FISI, the Organizing Committee and the people of Friuli Venezia Giulia for the hard work they have put into ma king this extraordinary event. I want to thank, too, all sponsors, partners and volunteers for helping to ensure we put on a spectacular show. To the fans: I hope you have a thrilling time at Tarvisio. And to the athletes: the very best of luck! Best wishes

FLAVIO RODA President, FISI The “Di Prampero” course and Friuli Venezia Giulia rightfully return to centre stage on the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup circuit, fifteen years after their last appearance. This achievement is the result of long-standing cooperation among many local institutions and associations, which only last season hosted the Junior Alpine Ski World Championships. The course that starts from Monte Lussari and descends to Camporosso, thanks to its technical features and spectacular nature, truly deserved to return to the top-level circuit. This will take place just ahead of the Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, making it an unmissable event for ski fans and for the international television audience alike. The Magazine prepared by the Organising Committee for this occasion represents an essential communication tool for anyone wishing to learn more about every aspect of the World Cup, as well as for all the stakeholders who stand alongside and support the organisation. For my part, I extend my best wishes to the organisers, the volunteers, the partners and to everyone who has contributed to the realisation of what will be one of the most important sporting events of the Italian women’s ski season.

Tarvisio 2026: Let’s Rewrite History! The Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup returns to Tarvisio after 15 years. For the fourth time in history, Tarvisio will be one of the stops on the 2025/2026 World Cup circuit. n the Super-G, Austria’s Renate Götschl, one of the speed queens of that era, took the win. Julia Mancuso, fresh from her Olympic triumph, conquered the Downhill with her elegant and decisive skiing style. Completing the picture was another Austrian athlete, Nicole Hosp, whose versatility secured her the Combined title, establishing her as an all-terrain star. Just two years later, in 2009, history repeated itself and the Di Prampero slope once again vibrated with excitement. This time, the legendary American skiing icon, Lindsey Vonn, made her mark by conquering the Super-G with a display of power and control that remains etched in the minds of fans. Germany made their presence felt with two successes: Gina Stechert in the Downhill and Maria Riesch in the Combined, confirming the extraordinary competitiveness of the German athletes. Finally, in 2011, Tarvisio delivered another spectacle.

Lindsey Vonn returned to dominate the Super-G, reaffirming her status as an absolute champion. Sweden’s Anja Paerson, one of modern skiing’s most charismatic figures, clinched the Downhill title; Slovenia’s Tina Maze, beloved by the local crowd due to her geographical and cultural proximity, won the Combined, giving great excitement to the many fans who travelled from the neighbouring border. 2007 Renate Goetschl (Super-G) Julia Mancuso (Downhill) Nicole Hosp (Combined) 2009 Lindsey Vonn (Super-G) Gina Stechert (Downhill) Maria Riesch (Combined) 2011 Lindsey Vonn (Super-G) Anja Paerson (Downhill) Tina Maze (Combined)

Friuli Venezia Giulia is a true breeding ground for sporting talent, a region that has transformed its mountains into natural training grounds capable of shaping world-class athletes. From champions of the past to new generations, this borderland has written—and continues to write— memorable pages in winter sports history. Among the most recent figures to stand out is Lara Della Mea from Tarvisio, a source of local pride and a leading protagonist at the 2025 World Championships in Saalbach, where she won the gold medal in the mixed team parallel event, bringing Friuli Venezia Giulia back into the spotlight of international sports news.

Alongside her shines the biathlon star Lisa Vittozzi, who has thrilled audiences with her World Championship victories and become an ambassador of the unbreakable bond between Friuli Venezia Giulia and winter sports. The region’s past and present tell the story of a remarkably rich tradition. In alpine skiing, names such as Nadia Bonfini, Emanuele Buzzi, Lucia Mazzotti, Alessia Pittin, Hans Vaccari, Jacopo Di Ronco and Marco Tonazzi stand out—athletes who have represented Friuli Venezia Giulia at the highest international competitions. With Bonfini, Della Mea and Buzzi, the region has produced three Olympic alpine skiers in the

sport’s premier discipline. This long list of champions is further enriched by the legends of cross-country skiing: Gabriella Paruzzi from Tarvisio, Pietro Piller Cottrer, Manuela and Giorgio Di Centa, and Silvio Fauner, as well as pioneering women such as Fides Romanin—the first Italian woman to serve as Olympic flag bearer in 1952—and Ildegarda Taffra, among the first Italian cross-country skiers to compete on the international stage. Finally, Alessandro Pittin, Olympic medallist and icon of Italian Nordic combined, together with Raffaele Buzzi and Giuseppe Michielli, international-level protagonists, with Buzzi set to represent the region for the third time at the Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.

When a Community Becomes a Team, the Magic of Sport Is Born

A major sporting event is not just about competition: it is energy, passion and life flowing between people. It is the moment when an entire community comes together, transforming differences into strength and skills into harmony.

Behind every round of applause, every smile and every milestone achieved, there is invisible yet powerful work: that of a team that believes in a shared dream. The Organising Committee, ski clubs, coaches, volunteers, technicians, medical staff, sponsors and institutions—each with their own talent, each with their own story. But it is when these stories intertwine that true magic is born: synergy. It is the ability to listen, to support one another and to move forward together towards the same goal that makes possible what, alone, would seem unattainable. The Organising Committee has fostered a network of collaborations that enhances the model of sporting and territorial cooperation typical of the Three Borders area. Seven ski clubs from Friuli Venezia Giulia under the aegis of FISI FVG—Sci Cai XXX Ottobre, ASD Sci Club Monte Lussari, US Camporosso, ASD Cimenti Sci Carnia, Sci Club Monte Canin, ASD Sci Club 70 and ASD Sci Club Monte Dauda—together with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Ski Instructors’ Association, will play a leading role with technicians, instructors and volunteers involved in every operational phase: from organisation and logistics to the preparation and grooming of the slopes.

18

In support of the event, the Landesskiverband Kärnten, the Carinthian state ski federation, will also make its volunteer skiers available and promote the participation of Austrian ski clubs and schools, invited to attend the races alongside local enthusiasts. On the Slovenian side, the Ski Association of Slovenia will work alongside PromoTurismoFVG and the Organising Committee in a joint ticketing promotion partnership that also involves the Women’s World Cup stop in Kranjska Gora (3–4 January 2026). Ticket sales for the races began in mid-November, accompanied by shared promotional initiatives and activities designed to engage young audiences. Finally, all the schools of the Valcanale will naturally be involved, with particular focus on the “I. Bachmann” Institute of Tarvisio. Students from the upper secondary school will take part through the FSL – School-to-Work Training programme (formerly PCTO). An event built across borders that turn into bridges, where sport, education and international cooperation come together under the sign of snow.

A key figure in the organisational journey leading up to the January stop of the Tarvisio Audi FIS Ski World Cup has been Peter Gerdol, FIS Chief Race Director for the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup. Thanks to his experience, his expertise developed at the highest international level, and his in-depth knowledge of the Di Prampero course—which he has seen grow and evolve over time into one of the leading venues in the Italian and European Alpine arc—Gerdol has been able to advise the Organising Committee with authority in planning and managing the various operational phases leading up to the event of the world’s top ski circuit. Our heartfelt thanks go to him, and are also extended to his entire team: Alberto Senigagliesi, Race Director for the speed events; Andreas Krönner, Technical Operations Manager; Tatjana Lüssy, Alpine Operations Coordinator; and Giulia Candiago and Viviane Tonoli from the Media Coordinator team.

19

Alongside the Organising Committee of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Tarvisio stands a network of silent yet indispensable forces, operating before, during and after the races. It is the large-scale system of emergency response, rescue and safety, united as a single cross-border team—just like this territory itself. This includes the “Penne Nere” of the Julia Alpine Brigade, the State Police with the Udine Police Headquarters and slope rescue personnel, the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza, the Fire Brigade, and the CNSAS – Italian National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps. On the medical front, healthcare professionals from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Air Rescue Service will be deployed, coordinated by the Regional Emergency Medical Operations Centre (SORES), together with staff from ASUFC – the Friuli Centrale University Health Authority, the Italian Red Cross and the Croce Verde Goriziana. These are specialised technicians and professionals who share procedures, expertise and a constant presence along the entire race course. From prevention to rapid interventions on the slopes, from assistance to the public to the coordination of helicopter rescue and operational control centres, every detail is designed to ensure an event that meets the highest international standards. Alongside them works the medical structure that harmonises the different professional roles into a single, coordinated command. It is thanks to this collective, discreet yet essential commitment that top-level skiing can take place in complete safety, transforming Tarvisio into a global stage where sport, mountains and professionalism come together.

Always Pushing Forward

The Di Prampero Course: Speed, Technique, Spectacle Where the Julian Alps sweep down into the valley and speed meets history, an iconic slope arose: the Di Prampero, the pride of Tarvisio and one of the true homes of Italian speed skiing. This is a slope designed to inspire amateurs and test champions. Designed by Luciano Lazzaro and inaugurated in 1993, the Di Prampero slope stretches for almost 4 km, featuring a dramatic 1,000-metre vertical drop. The slope has hosted three Women’s World Cup races (2007, 2009 and 2011), over 60 European Cup events, the 2003 Winter Universiade, and the Junior World Championships in both 2002 and 2025. It is also a frequent training ground for various national, youth and club teams.

From heroic origins to the world stage

1958 The adventure begins

The adventure kicked off with a pioneering gondola from Valbruna to Mount Lussari, carrying the first dreamers up to the peaks. From the top, skiers descended to Camporosso, only to be ferried back to Valbruna... by shuttle. This was skiing for true passion.

1982 The Lussari S.p.A. challenge

A new lift system re-launched the resort, but the company soon faced bankruptcy. It wasn’t until 1993 that Promotur arrived on the scene, bringing clear vision and drive to spare.

2000 The real Di Prampero takes shape

The new lift installation from Camporosso was completed on 29 December. There, the Di Prampero slope was built for both tourism and international competitions: designed by Luciano Lazzaro and constructed by Wieser (Campo Tures), the initial artificial snow system only covered the two finishing walls. Yet, the vision was clear: to establish the Friulian mountains on the world stage.

22

2005 The fire that couldn’t extinguish a dream

On 8 November 2005, a fire completely destroyed the cable car’s top station. For many, it seemed like the end. But not for Tarvisio. With the tenacity typical of mountain people, a miracle occurred: the lift system reopened on 20 January 2006. It was a rebirth in record time. The Di Prampero was alive – and stronger than before.

Speed, technique, spectacle: consecration and adaptations for international events 2001 Safety and FIS homologation

In preparation for the 2003 Winter Universiade, the slope was made safe and brought up to FIS standards. The homologation and adaptation work was strongly supported by Helmut Schmalzl, a former coach of the Italian national team who later became the FIS Race Director for Men’s Speed. In his honour, a bend in the slope (before the middle station) is named the ‘Curva Schmalzl’.

2002-2012 A decade of adrenalin

→ 3 Women’s World Cups → Over 60 European Cup races → 2002 Junior World Championships → 2003 Winter Universiade

The Di Prampero triumphs on the international circuit. A perfect blend of gradient, speed and visibility. 2005 First FIS World Cup inspection

The technical inspection was carried out by Kurt Hoch and Jan Tischhauser (FIS). They suggested a course modification that was implemented in 2006: the FIS Variant, designed to make the slope even safer and more competitive. This is a slope born for speed, but built for precision. It is wide, enjoys excellent exposure and is always perfectly snow-covered, making it ideal for high-velocity racing while ensuring maximum safety.

Tarvisio

A Crossroads of Cultures, Nations and Sporting Passions

In the heart of the Julian Alps, Tarvisio is much more than a ski resort: it is a true crossroads of cultures, nations and sporting passions. Here, where Italy, Austria and Slovenia meet, every slope, every path and every peak tells a story of borderland challenges and unity. Central to this unique setting stands Mount Lussari, the spiritual and sporting icon of the region. It is from here that the legendary Di Prampero slope begins its run, known as one of the most thrilling downhill courses in the entire Alps. With its 1,000+ metre vertical drop, this slope is a serious test for experienced skiers and World Cup athletes alike. Technique, speed and breathtaking views combine into one intense experience.

Every bend is a passage between heaven and earth, between challenge and conquest. The concept of the ‘Tre Confini’ (Three Boundaries) takes on a symbolic value here: it’s not a division, but a meeting point. In Tarvisio, sport unites, breaks down barriers and builds bridges between languages, cultures and athletes from all corners of Europe. It is a place where competing means confronting, getting to know each other and growing. Not only is Tarvisio an ongoing sporting challenge, but also an invitation to share. The Tre Confini thus become the European heart of Alpine skiing, a place where competition, respect and collaboration perfectly converge. When the snow falls and silence envelops the woods, the Di Prampero slope turns into an elite training ground for national ski teams and a natural spectacle for the public. During international competitions, the atmosphere in Tarvisio is charged with adrenaline, drawing fans from across Europe to a vibrant race village that thrives right alongside the slopes.

One Mountain, 365 Days a Year Friuli-Venezia Giulia is proof that there are still parts of Italy yet to be fully explored. A hidden hamlet to get lost in, the latest vintage to sample, a mountain path to tackle, new stories to uncover: this region is capable of offering the thrill of a first-time experience. Between the Alps, the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, it’s a veritable concentration of Italy. Get ready to enjoy nature, sustainability and fun on the peaks! A mountain destination, 365 days a year. From the Dolomites to the Julian Alps and Pre-Alps, via the Carnic Alps, Friuli-Venezia Giulia offers countless attractions: winter sports, après-ski right on the slopes, walks in ageold forests, discovering the charm of Alpine villages and relaxation in the warm thermal waters. The cold season here is a time when emotions don’t hibernate. Mountains of snow-covered pistes lead into the heart of pristine slopes where you can carve your own curves in complete safety in the Carnic and Julian Alps, unspoilt alpine gems far from the crowds. It’s a season to be lived through ephemeral adventures, enjoying the verticality of ice-climbing these peaks or

making serpentines with ski mountaineering on slopes that look directly out onto the Adriatic Sea. Fat-biking and snowshoeing are different facets of the same experience, means of enjoying an unforgettable time in contact with nature, surrounded by a whiteness of snow that will stay in your heart. Located at the junction of three borders (Italy, Austria and Slovenia), Tarvisio is embraced by the Julian Alps and an ancient forest which, at 24,000 hectares, represents the largest state forest in Italy. It’s a modern town, but with an ancient soul rich in traditions just waiting to be explored. 24 km of skiable areas include the almost 4 km Di Prampero slope, which opens up to a breathtaking view; the Arena Paruzzi slopes in the Saisera Valley and

Pontebba are a cross-country skier’s paradise. EXTRA-SKI ACTIVITIES: dog-sledding on the Fusine plain, snowshoe trekking in the silence of the Bartolo Valley, walks in the Saisera Valley along the wild side of the ancient forest, a rail bobsleigh run and the newly renovated children’s play area, ice-skating, a bike park and a zipline (only open in the summer season). Tarvisio is also a destination for many pilgrims thanks to the impressive Sanctuary of the Madonna del

Lussari, where tradition holds that an apparition of the Holy Virgin took place. The Tarvisio area offers a wide range of options for those who enjoy the great outdoors; absolutely worth a visit near Tarvisio are the Fusine Lakes (linked by a fascinating route), the Montasio Plateau and the Sella Nevea ski resort.

From the Friulian Dolomites, across the Carnic Alps, to the massifs of the Julian Alps and Pre-Alps: the ski resorts of Friuli Venezia Giulia offer unspoilt landscapes, charming villages, safe snow-covered slopes, moments of pure enjoyment or adrenaline-filled turns on the edges—along with highly affordable ski pass prices. The ski season at Forni di Sopra/ Sauris, Piancavallo, Sappada/Forni Avoltri, Ravascletto/Zoncolan, Tarvisio and Sella Nevea is designed with young people and families in mind: • Children in the Baby category (born from 2019 to 2023) ski for free. • Under-20s in the Junior category (born between 2007 and 2018 inclusive) and Over-75s (born in 1950 or earlier) ski for only €10 per day. • The daily ski pass for adults (born between 1962 and 2006) costs €44.00 in high season, reduced to €31.00 in low season, while for Seniors (born between 1951 and 1961) the price is €38.50 in high season and €27.50 in low season. •“Family packages” are available with the seasonal CARTAneve and

Sci@sempre options, as well as multi-day ski passes for consecutive days and the flexibility of “Sci@ore” for day skiing and “Sci@sempre” for the entire season.

The Logo The event logo, inspired by the graphic style of posters from the 1940s and 1950s, depicts a retrostyle female skier set against the backdrop of Mount Mangart, the “symbolic” peak of the Julian Alps embracing the Tarvisio area. This choice highlights the historical heritage of the destination and recalls past editions of the event. The selected colours are a natural continuation of those used for the 2025 Junior World Championships, which were hosted in Tarvisio, ensuring visual continuity and a strong link with the area’s recent sporting history.

The Trophy The “Warrior of Val Saisera” is the prize awarded to the winning athletes of the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup races in Tarvisio—a distinction that brings together art, nature and storytelling. It is the result of the encounter between the craftsmanship of Tarvisio-based artist and sculptor Ennio Veluscek, who carves each piece from cirmolo pine wood and iron recovered from trees felled by natural windstorms, and the words of journalist and writer Maurizio Bait, author of the tale that gives life to the legend of the “Saisera Warriors”. Each statue is a unique, non-replicable work, with different facial features, dimensions and details, bearing witness to the individual strength and uniqueness of every champion. Each warrior is given an exclusive name, never repeated on any other work, and is accompanied by a parchment recounting the history of the Saisera people—a symbol of resilience and rebirth among the mountains of Valbruna. 42

Solidarity To celebrate the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup in Tarvisio and the athletes who will step onto the podium, the StazioneRiva day centre in Rivignano Teor—part of C.A.M.P.P. and, as of 1 January 2026, ASUFC— has created a unique mosaic artwork in six original pieces. The work is the result of a collective effort by a group of adults with intellectual disabilities, guided by educators and mosaic artists. Made using marble and Venetian glass tiles, the award depicts Monte Lussari and a heart symbolising love for skiing, nature and sport. StazioneRiva, a Therapeutic Educational Unit (U.E.T.) dedicated to inclusion, welcomes 25 people who are engaged daily in artistic, sporting, agricultural and cultural activities. Its mosaic workshop represents a flagship project, fostering creativity and self-esteem. On the occasion of the event, the Organising Committee will also host an information stand for the IRCCS Maternal and Child Health Institute Burlo Garofolo of Trieste, a centre of excellence at national and international level in paediatrics, maternity care and scientific research in neonatal health. PromoTurismoFVG has long collaborated with the institute on solidarity initiatives. A further opportunity to bring together sport, art, research, community and solidarity.

Sustainability In 2021, the Tourism Promotion Consortium of Tarvisio, Sella Nevea and Passo Pramollo became the second Italian destination to be certified according to the international GSTC standards, the global benchmark for sustainable tourism. This achievement was born within the framework of cross-border cooperation under the Interreg Italy– Austria Programme, with the aim of integrating sustainability principles into every aspect of tourism management. Today, after five years of certification, the Consortium is part of the GSTC Italy Working Group and is investing in the improvement of tourism governance, in raising awareness among visitors, operators and the resident community, and in the enhancement of local resources. Among the initiatives already in place are the promotion of soft mobility, low-impact events such as

the No Borders Music Festival, and numerous projects dedicated to the respectful enhancement of cultural and natural heritage. Over the past two years, the Tarvisio area has also collaborated with other destinations in the Italian Alpine arc and with partners in Austria and Slovenia to apply principles of regenerative tourism, placing community well-being and environmental protection at the heart of local development. During the most recent two-year period, the environmental and socio-economic impacts of tourism policies have been carefully assessed, launching a structured monitoring process. The definition of mitigation strategies is now central to territorial efforts, with the goal of guiding the Tarvisio area towards a more balanced, competitive and responsible future.
