Fusion Architecture

FUSION ARCHITECTURE IS BASED IN SPOKANE, WASHINGTON AND PROVIDES COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL DESIGN THROUGHOUT THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND BEYOND. FOUNDED IN 2013, BY REX ANDERSON, FUSION ARCHITECTURE WAS BUILT UPON THE PREMISE THAT GREAT DESIGN REQUIRES GREAT EXECUTION. THEREFORE, WE TAKE A HOLISTIC APPROACH; EACH PHASE OF THE DESIGN PROCESS, FROM INCEPTION TO COMPLETION, IS EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT AND REQUIRES OUR INVOLVEMENT EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. THIS APPROACH FOSTERS COMMUNICATION AND OUR ENGAGEMENT WITH CLIENTS, CONSULTANTS, AND CONTRACTORS, AND ULTIMATELY SETS US UP FOR SUCCESS AND SOLIDIFIES LONG-LASTING RELATIONSHIPS AND SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS.

TYPE: COMMERCIAL - TENANT IMPROVEMENT

LOCATION: DOWNTOWN SPOKANE - HISTORIC OLD CITY HALL BUILDING

Old City Hall

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: INCLUDED THE COMPLETE DEMOLITION OF THE EXISTING OLIVE GARDEN RESTAURANT THAT INHABITED THE SPACE FROM 1990 THROUGH 2015 AND REORGANIZING THE SPACE TO INCORPORATE THE EXISTING TERRAZZO, MASONRY AND STEEL THAT WAS EXPOSED FOLLOWING DEMOLITION. MODERN WOOD ACCENTS WERE INCORPORATED FOR THE CEILINGS, WALL COVERINGS, SHELVING AND FURNITURE TO COMPLEMENT THE EXISTING MATERIALS.

ADDITIONAL DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE PROJECT INCLUDED WORKING WITH THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE DUE TO THE BUILDING BEING LISTED ON THE NATIONAL HISTORIC REGISTER. THE ADDITION OF A COOK LINE AND HOOD REQUIRED ROUTING VENTILATION FROM THE MAIN LEVEL OF THE BUILDING ALL THE WAY TO THE ROOF OF THE EXISTING SIX STORY BUILDING.

SCOPE OF WORK: ORIGINALLY BUILT IN 1912 AND 1913, THIS PROJECT IS LISTED ON THE NATIONAL HISTORIC REGISTER. FUSION ARCHITECTURE HAS SERVED AS THE ARCHITECT OF RECORD FOR ALL OF THE RENOVATION WORK THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE IN THE BUILDING SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED BY WALL ST, LLC IN 2018. THESE PROJECTS INCLUDE; UPGRADING THE EXISTING ELEVATORS, EXTENDING THE ELEVATOR TO THE ROOF AND REPLACING THE ELEVATOR MACHINE ROOM, FIRST FLOOR COMMON AREA IMPROVEMENTS, SECOND FLOOR COMMON AREA IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING A FITNESS FACILITY FOR TENANTS, NEW EXTERIOR CANOPIES, REPLACING THE EXISTING EXTERIOR ENTRY DOORS AT THE STREET LEVEL, TENANT IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS ON LEVEL THREE FOR INTERNATIONAL RAW MATERIALS, FIRST CHOICE HEALTH AND FUSION ARCHITECTURE.

Coffman Engineers

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: THE PROJECT ENTAILS A COMPREHENSIVE DEMOLITION OF THE EXISTING LEVEL 5 AND LEVEL 6 FLOOR PLANS TO INTEGRATE A NEW 20,000 SQUARE FOOT TENANT IMPROVEMENT FOR COFFMAN ENGINEERS. A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE FLOOR PLAN HAS BEEN STRATEGICALLY ORGANIZED TO OFFER STRIKING VIEWS OF RIVERFRONT PARK FOR EMPLOYEES FROM THEIR WORKSTATIONS. THE PROJECT PROGRAM ENCOMPASSES THE CREATION OF A NEW ENTRY LOBBY, A SPACIOUS CONFERENCE ROOM, SEVERAL MEDIUM-SIZED CONFERENCE ROOMS, PRIVATE OFFICES FOR PRINCIPALS, A NEW KITCHEN BREAK ROOM, A DESIGNATED COFFEE ROOM, A CHARRETTE ROOM, A NEW STAIRWAY CONNECTING LEVEL 5 AND LEVEL 6 DIRECTLY WITHIN THEIR SUITE, 120 WORKSTATIONS, MULTIPLE COFFEE STATIONS, AND A WELLNESS ROOM. IN ADDITION TO THESE FEATURES, SPECIAL ATTENTION HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ERGONOMIC DESIGN AND SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS THROUGHOUT THE SPACE, ENSURING A COMFORTABLE AND ECO-FRIENDLY WORK ENVIRONMENT FOR COFFMAN ENGINEERS’ STAFF. FURTHERMORE, THE PROJECT INCORPORATES STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT MODERN COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION NEEDS, FOSTERING EFFICIENCY AND INNOVATION

Lumberbeard Brewery

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: A 14,000 SQUARE FOOT REMODEL TO AN EXISTING BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN SPOKANE, WA. THE DESIGN FEATURES AN APPROXIMATELY 10,000 SQUARE FOOT BREW FLOOR WHERE THE BEER IS CRAFTED AS WELL AS A 3,700 SQUARE FOOT TASTING ROOM WHICH FEATURES A PRIVATE DINING ROOM AND TASTING COUNTER.

Ponderosa Village Retail Center

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: FUSION ARCHITECTURE WAS HIRED BY THE OWNERS OF BARNEY’S HARVEST FOODS TO COMPLETE A MASTER PLAN STUDY FOR THEIR SIX ACRES OF PROPERTY SURROUNDING THEIR STORE FOR THE ADDITION OF RETAIL BUILDINGS. FUSION’S MASTER PLAN DESIGN INCLUDED SIX RETAIL STORES RANGING IN SIZE FROM FIVE THOUSAND SQUARE FEET TO EIGHT THOUSAND SQUARE FEET AND PARKING. FOLLOWING THE STUDY, FUSION WAS HIRED TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS FOR THE FIRST TWO OF THE SIX RETAIL BUILDINGS. THE BUILDINGS WERE COMPLETED IN 2019 AND ARE AT 100% OCCUPANCY. FUSION ARCHITECTURE WAS ALSO THE ARCHITECT OF RECORD FOR THREE OF THE FOUR TENANT BUILD OUTS FOR TENANTS SUCH AS HELLO SUGAR, THE MIX HAIR SALON AND PONDEROSA GRILLE.

Atlas Gas Station

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: A 7,500 SQUARE FOOT GAS STATION AND UPSCALE MARKET, DESIGNED FOR THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF ATLAS AND SELTICE IN COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO. THE DESIGN FEATURES A LOW SLOPING METAL ROOF WITH STAINED WOOD TONGUE AND GROOVE SOFFITS. THE SIDING IS PREDOMINANTLY METAL PANEL SIDING WITH STONE ACCENTS. THE MARKET WILL FEATURE A DELI, DRIVE-THRU COFFEE AND BEER ON TAP TO BE ENJOYED AT THE SEATING AREA.

Francis & Freya Gas Station

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: THE MODERN TAKE ON A GAS STATION.

317 CDA Apartments

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: A TWENTY-ONE APARTMENT BUILDING LOCATED IN SPOKANE’S BROWNE’S ADDITION NEIGHBORHOOD. THE UNIQUE, TRIANGULAR, LOT CONFIGURATION CREATED AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A ROW HOUSE TYPE FEEL FOR THE WALK UP UNITS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE PROPERTY. THE EXTERIOR DESIGN OF THE BUILDING PULLS FROM THE HISTORIC SURROUNDING CONTEXT BY INCORPORATING ELEMENTS SUCH AS THE METAL RAILINGS AND THE EXTERIOR MASONRY. THE BUILDING FEATURES BELOW GRADE PARKING FOR THE TENANTS WITH AN ELEVATOR.

31st Apartments

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: TWELVE-UNIT, THREE-STORY, GARDEN-STYLE

APARTMENT BUILDING ON SPOKANE’S SOUTH HILL NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF 29TH AND GRAND. THE BUILDING FEATURES TWELVE TWO BEDROOM, TWO BATHROOM UNITS APPROXIMATELY 850 SQUARE FEET IN SIZE. THE BUILDING ALSO FEATURES A TWELVE-CAR GARAGE AT THE BACK OF THE PROPERTY FOR TENANT PARKING.

Flora Road Apartments

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: A 151-UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING LOCATED ON A THREE-ACRE PARCEL IN SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON. THE PROJECT FEATURES A MIX OF STUDIO, ONE BEDROOM AND TWO-BEDROOM APARTMENTS. THE SITE IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF MANY DEVELOPING AMENITIES IN THE AREA, MASS TRANSIT, NEW SCHOOLS, HEALTHCARE AND RETAIL. THE DESIGN MAKES USE OF THE UNIQUE ZONING CLASSIFICATION GIVEN TO IT BY THE CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY WITH REGARD TO HEIGHT LIMIT AND LOT COVERAGE. CONSTRUCTION IS ANTICIPATED TO START IN 2021.

LOCATION: SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: 38 UNIT-MULTI FAMILY DEVELOPMENT WILL BE LOCATED DOWNTOWN SPOKANE.

Aero Road Apartments

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: MEDICAL LAKE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: WE ARE SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS DESIGN OPPORTUNITY MOVE FORWARD. THIS IS A 24-UNIT TOWNHOUSE, NESTLED BETWEEN MEDICAL LAKE AND SPOKANE; THE DESIGN GOAL OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO CREATE A SENSE OF PURPOSE AND COMMUNITY.

Bremerton Condos

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: BREMERTON, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS IS A DESIGN CONCEPT FOR CONDOS ON THE WEST SIDE OF WASHINGTON. THIS PROJECT DESIGN FOCUSES ON GREEN ENERGY AND CONCEPTS.

Mansfield

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS IS A NEW BUILD, COMMERCIAL USE PROJECT. THE DESIGN MAXIMIZES VOLUME THROUGH A TRIANGULATED SITE AND REGULATING GRID. A MODERN BUILDING EMPHASIZED BY CLEAN LINES, BALANCED SHAPES AND A RHYTHM OF MATERIAL.

Sawtooth Building 1

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: POST FALLS, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS 12-UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING IS THE FIRST OF 3 BUILDINGS FOR THIS PROJECT. THIS PROJECT WAS COMPLETED IN 2023.

LOCATION: SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS IS A THREE STORY, GARDEN STYLE APARTMENT BUILDING COMPRISING 13 APARTMENT UNITS.

Fernan Village

TYPE: COMMERCIAL

LOCATION: COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS IS A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR A DOWNTOWN COEUR D’ ALENE 35-UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING FEATURING A GROUND LEVEL, 3,500 SQUARE FOOT RESTAURANT AND OUTDOOR PATIO.

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS PROJECT WAS A FULL REVAMP OF THE INTERIORS OF WESTSIDE MOTORSPORTS.

SCOPE OF WORK: SINGLE STORY HOME WITH A SECOND STORY ADD ON AND REMODEL.

Fernan Hill Residence

TYPE: RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: MODERN HOME FOR A MOTHER AND DAUGHTER TO ADAPT TO THE NEEDS OF MULTI-GENERATIONAL LIVING, LOCATED IN COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO. THE RESIDENCE IS DESIGNED TO HOUSE TWO ADULTS AND TWO DOGS UNDER ONE ROOF. THIS MULTI-GENERATIONAL DREAM HOME PROVIDES PLENTY OF SPACE AND PRIVACY FOR THE DAUGHTER TO ASSIST HER MOM WHILE BOTH MAINTAIN INDEPENDENCE. UNIQUE CEDAR AND BLACK METAL SHADING ELEMENTS WERE CREATED TO ACCENTUATE THE SITE — INCLUDING A THIRD LEVEL SUNROOM LOFT — DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE VIEWS OF THE SPECTACULAR COEUR D’ALENE LAKE. THE INTERIOR IS THE PERFECT BLEND OF CLASSIC MODERN AND MID-CENTURY MODERN. SCOPE OF WORK: LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE SPOKANE RIVER IN POST FALLS, IDAHO, THE MARINA COURT RESIDENCE UTILIZES AN EAST TO WEST SOLAR ORIENTATION OF THE MAIN LIVING SPACES, POSITIONED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE HOUSE, TO OPTIMIZE ITS VIEWS OF THE RIVER AND MAXIMIZE ITS DAYLIGHTING POTENTIAL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THROUGH THE USE OF EXPANSIVE WINDOWS ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE HOUSE. THE STEEL CANOPIES AND LARGE ROOF OVERHANGS WORK IN COMBINATION WITH THE WINDOWS TO PROVIDE MUCH NEEDED SHADING DURING THE WARM SUMMER MONTHS AND ALLOW FOR THE WINTER SUN, AT ITS LOWER ANGLE, TO ENTER THE HOUSE.

LOCATION: PRIEST LAKE, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS MOUNTAIN MODERN DESIGN OFFERS A FRESH TAKE ON THE CLASSIC RUSTIC CABIN.

Chattaroy Residence

TYPE: RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: CHATTAROY, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: TWENTY MILES NORTH OF DOWNTOWN SPOKANE, NESTLED AMONGST THE PONDEROSA PINES WITH VIEWS OF THE SURROUNDING FARMLAND, THIS HOUSE IS CHARACTERIZED BY ITS CONVERGING LOW SLOPING ROOFS AND EXTENSIVE USE OF RAW MATERIALS, EXPRESSED ON THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR. THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS HOUSE INCLUDE A FLOATING TREAD STAIR AT THE ENTRY, THE USE OF GABION ROCK IN A VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS AS WELL AS POST AND BEAM CONSTRUCTION AT THE PRIMARY ENTRIES TO THE HOUSE.

Lake Coeur d’Alene Cabin

TYPE: RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: A 2,000 SQUARE FOOT RESIDENCE PLACED ABOVE CAVE BAY ON LAKE COEUR D’ALENE. THIS DESIGN SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, FEATURING A LARGE, SHED ROOF AND EXPANSIVE CANTILEVERING PATIO THAT CAPTURE 180 DEGREE VIEWS OF LAKE COEUR D’ALENE.

Silver Lake Residence

TYPE: RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: SILVER LAKE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: WHILE THIS PROJECT IS TECHNICALLY A REMODEL, THE ONLY PART OF THE PROJECT THAT WAS CARRIED OVER TO THE NEW DESIGN WAS THE FOUNDATION FROM THE EXISTING HOUSE. THE EXISTING HOUSE WAS A SINGLE-STORY RESIDENCE WITH MINIMAL VIEWS OF THE LAKE FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE HOUSE. THE NEW DESIGN FEATURES A GREATER CONNECTION TO THE LAKE FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE HOUSE BY ADDING LARGE DOOR AND WINDOW OPENINGS WITH VIEWS OF THE LAKE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE HOUSE. A WRAPAROUND PORCH IS ALSO A FEATURE ELEMENT TO THE DESIGN. ADDITIONALLY, A SECOND FLOOR HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE HOUSE, INCREASING THE NUMBER OF BEDROOMS AND PLAY AREA FOR THE OWNER’S CHILDREN.

Spokane River Remodel

TYPE: RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: POST FALLS, IDAHO

SCOPE OF WORK: REMODEL PROJECT FOR A TWO-STORY APARTMENT BUILDING IN POST FALLS, IDAHO. THE EXISTING HOUSE WAS A THREE THOUSAND SQUARE FEET, TWO-STORY, WALK-OUT BASEMENT STYLE HOUSE. THE REMODEL DESIGN INCLUDED THE EXPANSION OF THE EXISTING DECK INCLUDING A COVERED PORCH OVERLOOKING THE SPOKANE RIVER AT THE BACK OF THE HOUSE.

Columbia River Residence

TYPE: RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: NESTLED ON THE BANKS OF THE COLUMBIA RIVER, THIS DESIGN TAKES ADVANTAGE OF ALL OF THE VIEWS AND FEATURES A POOL HOUSE JUXTAPOSED WITH THE WATER. THIS HOME WAS BUILT IN 2022.

LOCATIONS: LIBERTY LAKE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: A 3,500 SQUARE FOOT TENANT IMPROVEMENT FOR A OB/GYN CLINIC IN LIBERTY LAKE, WA, FEATURING SIX PATIENT ROOMS, ONE PROCEDURE ROOM, ONE LACTATION COUNSELING ROOM, KITCHEN, WAITING ROOM AND OFFICE SPACE.

Valley | OBGYN

TYPE: MEDICAL

LOCATIONS: SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: AN INTERIOR REMODEL TO AN EXISTING OB/GYN CLINIC IN SPOKANE VALLEY, WA. THE FEATURE ELEMENTS TO THIS REMODEL WERE A NEW RECEPTION COUNTER, EXPANDED OFFICE SPACE, NEW FINISHES IN THE PATIENT ROOMS AND THROUGHOUT THE OFFICE.

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS IS A NEW BUILD FOR THE OAKS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, APPROXIMATELY A 42,450 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY THAT WILL INCLUDE A 5,500 SQUARE FEET OF ADMINISTRATIVE SPACE, 12,000 SQUARE FEET OF STAFF SUPPORT SPACE, 12,5000 SQUARE FEET OF CLASSROOM SPACE AND 3,000 SQUARE FEET OF AREA RELATED TO AN OUTDOOR GATHERING SPACE. THIS IS CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND WILL BE COMPLETED BY THE SUMMER 2023.

The River Academy

TYPE: EDUCATIONAL

LOCATION: WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON

SCOPE OF WORK: THIS IS A NEW K-12 SCHOOL IN WENATCHEE, WA. CONSTRUCTION IS TO BEGIN IN 2023 AND COMPLETED IN 2024.
