HOW FONGS PIZZA CAME TO LIFE DOWNTOWN // Fongs Pizza

Gwen Page saw a lack of late night dining options in downtown Des Moines back in 2008, and while employed as a manager at the High Life Lounge, she saw her opportunity. A friend shared with Page that King Ying Low had closed, and the location was available to fulfill her dream of opening a pizza place. Upon entering the space and learning more about King Ying Low's history, they were inspired to create a menu that paid homage to the dishes that King Ying Low served for so many decades. The combination of a tiki bar with unique Asian-inspired pizza menu created a vibe that people from all over the nation travel to for the Fongolian experience.

The top three dishes to try these days are our Crab Rangoon Pizza, Ramen Pizza and Cauliflower Wings. The last two dishes are only available at the downtown store which recently has introduced more vegan and gluten friendly options.

The Downtown store offers limited dine-in with respect to social distancing, direct delivery and curbside carryout.
