STUDENT PRESIDENT Liam Southern My name is Liam Southern (he/him) and I am running for Student President with FIRE-UP. FIRE-UP is a team of driven students, who will ignite progressive change at Flinders University for the benefit of all students. We care about doing the things that matter the most to everyday students.

FIRE-UP stands for: - Expanding financial support for students during the cost-of-living crisis - A thriving campus culture for all students - Creating a safe and accessible campus for everyone - Continuing to expand support for student clubs - Continuing support for international students

STUDENT PRESIDENT Bonnie Moseley Currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Social Work, I bring both academic knowledge and practical experience in social justice, advocacy, and community support.

My work with organisations such as Novita Children’s Services, Women’s Safety Services SA, and GreenLeaf Consultancy has given me hands-on experience supporting people with disabilities, women and families escaping domestic violence, and individuals navigating complex service systems such as the NDIS and My Aged Care. In these roles, I have developed skills in trauma-informed care, psychosocial support, and case management, while consistently upholding values of respect, equity, and professional integrity.

With a foundation in social work principles and a proven ability to work alongside diverse communities and multidisciplinary teams, I am committed to amplifying student voices and driving positive change at Flinders. I look forward to supporting our community with empathy, integrity, and dedication, ensuring that students are valued, and empowered within Flinders.

As Student President, I will draw on this background to ensure that all students feel supported, included, and heard. I believe in transparent leadership, open communication, and collaborative decision-making. STUDENT PRESIDENT Rachana Hello lads, ladies, and non-binary daisies!

I’m Rachana (she/her), and I’m thrilled to be running for the position of Student President with Fair Dinkums.

Fair Dinkums is for the students, of the students, and by the students. We stand for Unity, Trust, and Integrity. Having been a part of the Flinders community for a while now, we’ve had the privilege of interacting with diverse groups of students, and we’ve always been passionate about making our university a better place for everyone. And hence, our campaign runs around, “What are you doing about it?”.

Fair Dinkums stands for: - Better Student Services: Advocating for more affordable accommodation, exchange programs, increased study spaces, and more.

-Stronger Campus Community: Supporting more social, cultural, and networking events so students from different backgrounds feel connected.

-Career Advancement: Pushing for stronger placement support and closer industry ties to prepare students for life after Flinders.

I’m currently studying Master of Information Technology. Alongside my studies, I’ve actively contributed to student and community life: volunteering as a scribe for differently abled communities, leading crew member teams during college fests and events, and working on inclusive projects that bring people together. These experiences have taught me empathy, leadership, and the ability to think outside the box, qualities I will carry into this role.

As your Student President, my commitment is simple: to make sure every student feels valued, supported, and empowered. With Fair Dinkums, we will listen with empathy, act transparently, and create a campus experience that goes beyond academics, one that builds a true sense of belonging.

STUDENT PRESIDENT Raghav Chauhan I am a first- year medical science student and am applying for the position of student president at Flinders University. This role stood out from the others, as I had spent most of my senior high school wanting to be capable enough to attend this prestigious institution, and now that I have, I feel obliged to contribute to its ever-growing success and respect. Flinders has a strong focus on building community and prioritising inclusivity, accomodating all people. I aspire to continue fostering these values at Flinders. Having had the privilege of being class president throughout my high school taught me how to listen without judgment, perceive information, and fulfil my responsibilities. Thanks to my long-term experience as a class president, I feel qualified enough to be representing Flinders. Furthermore, being a resident at the university hall, has cultivated a sense of community in me, helping me improve my abilities to communicate and understand people. I feel confident to represent this acclaimed university as I personally stand for it’s values of integrity, courage, innovation, and excellence.

Public speaking is something I often engage in, whether it entails talking in front of a 100 people or just talking to one of my fellow peers. It is a skill which I have developed owing to my incessant curiosity and am enthusiastic to attend all the committees and events that a student president gets to. I resolve to treat this role as a passion, rather than as a job. I will work in close collaboration with the Student Council and the staff to make sure, that I keep the students' opinions at the foremost of my discussions to ensure fair representation of FUSA.

GENERAL SECRETARY Breeana Jones My name is Breeana Jones (she/her) and I am running for General Secretary with FIRE-UP. FIRE-UP is a team of driven students, who will ignite progressive change at Flinders University for the benefit of all students. We care about doing the things that matter the most to everyday students.

FIRE-UP stands for: - Expanding financial support for students during the cost-of-living crisis - A thriving campus culture for all students - Creating a safe and accessible campus for everyone - Continuing to expand support for student clubs As a regional student who moved to Adelaide to study Law and International Relations/Political Science at University, it was a big and intimidating change. Yet, Flinders University and FUSA enabled me to embrace this change and cease this opportunity with both hands.

I want to give back to Flinders and represent students who have changed their life for higher education. I plan to do this through my role as General Secretary.

I want to advocate for those from regional and remote areas by further investing in our on-campus accommodation (Flinders Uni Hall and Village). I want to support clubs on recruitment and increase participation because these clubs are the foundation for meeting new people, forming friendships, and making new cities feel like home.

Having lived at on-campus accommodation (Uni Hall) and being the Residents Club 2025 Secretary and Event Safety Officer, I am well knowledgeable of the events and culture created on campus and wish to develop this further.

I have strong administrative skills and experience and plan to use my knowledge to streamline and improve student advocacy, so that it is not limited to those elected to FUSA, but for every student at Flinders University.

GENERAL SECRETARY Nikshaay Hey everyone, it's Nikshay.

I'm running for General Secretary because I believe that behind every great student community is a well-oiled machine that keeps things running smoothly. I'm that person who actually likes organising things, taking clear notes, and making sure everyone is on the same page. If you want a Secretary who’s efficient, transparent, and will keep the gears turning so everyone else can focus on the big ideas I'm your guy.

GENERAL SECRETARY Urvi Elliah I am inspired by the principles of integrity, courage and excellence that shape the culture at Flinders University. Guided by its values and the university’s ethos of prioritising students’ needs and well-being, I am eager to nominate myself for the position of General Secretary to bring my contribution to that vision. As a first-year Clinical Science/Doctor of Medicine student here, I have had the privilege to serve as Topic Representative since my first semester- an experience that taught me the value and responsibility of representing students’ voices.

This role strengthened my leadership, organisational, communication and problem-solving abilities, as I liaise with teaching staff to support my peers. I also had the opportunity of learning how to balance other commitments alongside working to meet academic deadlines and effectively managing my time and resources. In addition to this, my diverse experiences as hospital intern and Deals Advisory intern at an auditing company back home have developed my professional communication and writing - skills that I believe are suited to the role of FUSA’s General Secretary.

GENERAL SECRETARY Praful Hi, I am Praful, and I am studying Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) at Flinders University. I am currently a Student Representative for two courses. As an international student, I also understand the challenges faced by students in balancing their studies, wellbeing and opportunities to grow.

The reason why I choose for General Secretary because I want to make ensure that every students voice must be heard. I believe in building a strong and inclusive student community where decisions are transparent and students feels empowered.

If I am elected, I will improve communication between students and FUSA, so everyone will get to know how to access support and opportunities.

GENERAL SECRETARY Rishi I am proud to nominate myself for the position of General Secretary in the upcoming FUSA election.

As a committed and engaged student at Flinders University, I am passionate about strengthening student life, promoting transparency, and ensuring that every student feels heard, valued, and represented.

Additionally, I am committed to creating an inclusive, respectful environment where all students feel welcome to share their ideas and participate in decision-making. I will campaign for clearer and more accessible channels for student feedback and proposals, helping turn ideas into real outcomes that benefit the entire Flinders community.

If elected, I will take on the key responsibilities of the General Secretary role with focus and dedication. EDUCATION OFFICER Russell Burton Do you have trouble understanding what your lecturer is saying, and the transcription tool can’t understand either?

Were your high school teachers much better at explaining things than your university teachers?

Do your tutors complain that ‘they only got the stuff last night’ when you ask them about how to do a prac?

Do you get some of your work back weeks (or even months) after you submitted them?

Are some (or most) of your assignments missing assessment rubrics?

I am a (very) mature-age student who has retired from teaching, and I am now in my second year of an Engineering degree. I have been a high school teacher for over 30 years, so I know how task setting and assessment should work and how things can go wrong. I have trained other teachers as part of my leadership role at the schools that I taught and have also been a Master of Education course tutor at the University of Adelaide for a semester, so I have experience both as a student and as an educator at university level.

If I sound like a person who might be able to fix the problems you are experiencing, then please, Vote for Russell Burton for Education Officer!

Are your lecturers super defensive (sometimes aggressive) when you try to talk to them about a problem?

These are some of the issues I have encountered, and I want to fix them! I believe I have solutions to most of the issues listed above, and I would like to promote them as part of the Education Officer’s role. EDUCATION OFFICER Raghav Chauhan I am a first-year medical science student and am applying for the position of education officer at Flinders University. Education is a right to all, and Flinders supports this strongly. I back this claim, and support that every student at this university deserves planned education that is carefully designed with the utmost care, to foster a workforce with a sense of compassion. I have had earlier experiences in roles of leadership in my high school and have learned to communicate and exercises my duties with care, which helped me sustain my role for almost 3 years. I understand that this role can include sacrificing some of my time, but I will be privileged to serve the students of this institution, to conceivably better the already good education systems set up here. I have been exposed to speaking in big audiences and one thing I have picked up is that all conversations, whether with 100 people or 1 person should flow naturally, and ideas must be kept concise to deliver clear ideas. I am confident in my skills in being the voice of the students and representing that in committees, to always keep their grievances at the forefront of my arguments.

EDUCATION OFFICER Hope Chilstone My name is Hope Chilstone, and I am a first-year Tourism and Events Management student in the School of Business. I am passionate about ensuring every student has the support and resources they need to succeed academically.

My commitment to educational advocacy stems from my five years on the Department for Child Protection Youth Council, where I developed strong skills in policy advocacy and learned how to amplify student voices at the institutional level. Having entered the child protection system at age five and experienced significant change and upheaval throughout my childhood, including changing carers and schools, I understand first hand how crucial stable, supportive educational environments are for student success.

As an active member of the Business Students Association, I've seen firsthand the challenges Flinders students face and the power of collective representation. I've successfully organised networking events connecting students across Adelaide's three universities, demonstrating my ability to create opportunities that enhance the educational experience beyond the lecture theatre.

EDUCATION OFFICER Dhruvil Sonara I am running for Education Officer with Fair Dinkums because I care deeply about how we, as students, experience our education. As an international student pursuing a Master of Information Technology, I understand the challenges of adapting to a new environment, balancing study with life, and ensuring that our voices are heard.

If elected, I will work to place students at the centre of every decision that affects our learning. By chairing the Student Representation Network, I will support representatives to confidently raise concerns and advocate for meaningful changes that benefit us all. I will also champion student welfare initiatives, because when we stand together, we can create a fairer and more inclusive education experience.

WOMEN’S OFFICER Hope Chilstone My name is Hope Chilstone, and I am a first-year Tourism and Events Management student in the School of Business. I am standing for Women's Officer because I believe in creating a university environment where women and gender diverse students can thrive without barriers.

My advocacy background runs deep. Through five years on the Department for Child Protection Youth Council, I've developed expertise in representing diverse voices and fighting for systemic change. Having entered the child protection system at age five and experienced significant upheaval, I understand the unique vulnerabilities that many women and gender diverse students face, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

WOMEN’S OFFICER Lauren Hepworth Hi, I’m Lauren! I am nominating myself for the position of Women’s Officer because I believe every woman and gender-diverse student on our campus deserves to feel not only safe, but truly valued and celebrated. Safety is the minimum standard. What I want to help create is a culture where women feel respected, empowered, and confident in their place within our university community.

Too often in educational spaces, women’s voices can be overlooked or dismissed. I want to challenge that norm and help shift our culture so that being a woman here is recognised as powerful, worthy, and something to be proud of. I am passionate about women’s rights and wellbeing, and I believe that creating an inclusive and supportive environment benefits everyone.

I am confident in my ability to balance the different aspects of this role: from meetings and organising community events and representing women’s perspectives in council discussions. I know when to listen, when to collaborate, and when to raise my voice.

WOMEN’S OFFICER Faria I am running for Women’s Officer with Team Fair Dinkums to champion fairness and equality for women at Flinders University. As both a woman and an international student studying Psychological Science, I understand the unique challenges women face in university life. My experiences have shown me that gender equality is not just about awareness —it’s about taking real action. Women from different cultural backgrounds often face additional barriers, while issues like discrimination and safety remain pressing concerns on campus. As your Women’s Officer, I will focus on creating a campus where women feel supported, connected, and confident. I will work to establish peer networks and mentorship opportunities, improve access to health and wellbeing resources, and support initiatives that make daily student life easier, including addressing period poverty. WOMEN’S OFFICER Afsana Afrose Hi, I’m Afsana Afrose, and I’m running to be your next Women’s Officer!

Work to create safe, inclusive spaces where women can connect and support one another.

I’m currently studying for a Master of Public Health at Flinders University, and I’m passionate about empowering women, breaking down barriers, and making sure every woman on campus feels supported, respected, and heard.

Build strong peer-support networks so no woman feels alone on her journey at Flinders.

Through my research and community work, I’ve focused on women’s health, reproductive health, and mental wellbeing. I’ve led awareness sessions on reproductive health, worked on projects tackling endometriosis and diabetes, and actively engaged in mental health advocacy. These experiences taught me how important it is to create safe spaces where women can share, learn, and support each other.

But this role is more than just health—it's about representation and action. As your Women’s Officer, I will:

My application for Women's Officer is grounded in my lived experience as a women, and my commitment to the values of equality, diversity and inclusion. As a woman in an educational setting, I have unfortunately experienced gender inequality first-hand. For instance, in the classroom I observed causal misogyny in speech, witnessed unequal opportunities for participation and seen how gendered expectations affected degree decisions.

This represents a broader societal issue, where pervasive gendered stereotypes and stigmas influence not only the educational sector but society at large.

It is also pertinent to recognise the intersectionality of race, sexuality, class etc., in addition to gender.

Therefore, it it is my goal to advocate for women collectively.

Additionally, I recognise this position as a great responsibility and time commitment. I want to reassure that I am both motivated and able to fulfil the time requirements of this role. I have decided that during my final year of undergrad (next year), I will step back from my work commitments to focus fully on my Uni endeavours.

FIRST NATIONS STUDENTS OFFICER* Joshua Andersen-Ward My name is Joshua Andersen-Ward, a Yanvuwa and Gangalidda man, lawyer, and committed advocate for public integrity, environmental stewardship, and social reform. I am nominating for First Nations Student Officer because I believe representation matters, and Flinders needs strong voices who bring both lived experience and professional skills to support and advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

I am currently studying a Master’s in Accounting and Finance at Flinders. Returning to study after a wide-ranging career gives me a unique perspective: I understand the challenges of balancing academic, financial, and cultural responsibilities, and I know how important it is to have strong representation within the university community.

Over the past two decades I have worked across many sectors—corporate and Aboriginal legal practice, state utilities, science and infrastructure, university governance, and federal oversight. I’ve also taught business law, cooked in restaurant kitchens, and worked FIFO in remote WA. This breadth of experience has grounded me in the realities faced by people from all walks of life and strengthened my resolve to advocate for fairness, integrity, and community empowerment. fusa.edu.au/elections

My professional journey has included roles with the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement, CSIRO, SA Water, and the Commonwealth Ombudsman. In each role, I have fought to dismantle systemic barriers, ensure accountability, and amplify voices often excluded from decision-making. As an Aboriginal man in law and government, I’ve too often been the only First Nations voice in the room.

This has reinforced my commitment to creating spaces where our perspectives are not only heard but centred.

WELFARE OFFICER Hope Chilstone My name is Hope Chilstone, and I am a first-year Tourism and Events Management student in the School of Business. I am passionate about supporting student welfare and wellbeing because I believe every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and able to thrive during their university experience.

My commitment to welfare advocacy is deeply rooted in my five-year involvement with the Department for Child Protection Youth Council, where I learned how crucial it is to identify and address the diverse needs of young people. Having entered the child protection system at age five and experienced significant change and upheaval, I understand intimately how important stable, compassionate support systems are for young people facing challenges. This lived experience has given me unique insight into how support services can genuinely help or inadvertently create additional barriers.

As a member of the Business Students Association, I've organised events that bring students together, helping to combat isolation and build supportive networks. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS OFFICER Urvi Elliah I am inspired by the principles of integrity, courage and excellence that shape the culture at Flinders University. Guided by its values of inclusivity and the university’s ethos of prioritising student wellbeing, I am keen to nominate myself as FUSA’s International Students Officer. Studying abroad comes with many opportunities as well as its challenges. As an international student, I have experienced many challenges but also the incredible support here at Flinders. It motivates me to be part of being able to foster that support and inclusion to other international students. My experiences as Topic Representative have taught me the value and responsibility of representing students’ voices and what it means to feel heard in a new environment, especially being an international student myself.

As an international student studying Maritime Archaeology, I understand the importance of protecting both cultural and natural environments, and I am passionate about building a sustainable future for all. I believe students have a vital role to play in addressing the environmental challenges of our time, and I want to ensure that Flinders leads by example.

If elected, I will advocate strongly for sustainable practices across campus, from reducing waste and improving recycling systems to expanding renewable energy initiatives.
