Blessings in a Backpack
Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack strives to ensure children do not go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action. The Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation has worked closely with Blessings in a Backpack for over 10 years, supplying meals each Friday for many students over the school year. Over 75,000 meals a year have been provided to students in Duval and St. John’s county schools through the First Coast Blessings in a Backpack program. The foundation has adopted schools in Duval County and provides funding for the children to receive meals every weekend. As a supplement to the support given to Blessings in a Backpack, Constellation will also be supporting First Book by providing 500 books to be included in the backpacks for students in Jacksonville. Constellation will be mirroring the donation of 500 books to longstanding partner, the Crossroads School in Baltimore, for a total of 1,000 books.
