Michelle J lives in the Snowy Mountains region of NSW, Australia. She loves the rugged county and its inhabitants, spending timing photographing wild Snowy Mountains Brumbies and the wildlife that live in this cool, alpine wilderness wonderland.

It was early morning. The storm had passed. The sun was rising. The brumbies were full of beans, and oh what a joy it is to encounter such nature.

The lead stallion had been watching me for some time and I had no idea. Here I am thinking I was being so clever and stealthy NOT !! God love him.
Of all the peaks in the Great Dividing Range, the Snowy Mountains contains the tallest of them, including Mt Kosciuszko, the highest mountain in Australia at 2228 metres above sea level.

In the early morning I sit and wait, softly letting out my own howl. And then…a young dingo replies. Just wonderful.

The Stallion we call Paleface was on the move but didn't realise I was in his path. He saw he was on a collision course, casually sidetracked and ran straight past. Just wild!
There are very few regions in Australia that experience pronounced seasonal changes. The Snowy Mountains is one of them. In Winter you are advised to prepare well and consult local authorities and forecasts before venturing out.

A mob of wild horses crossed in front of us. I feel blessed to be able to visit these wonderful creatures, and the wide open plains of the Snowy Mountains where they roam.
