But while your there don’t miss the Secret pool, which is really an old quarr y works.

There are some great pubs at Widecombe in the Moor to tr y on your way to or fro.... or both!

4 R IVER SWIM M ING AT C ADOVER Per fect for a hot day. We often go there for a swim and picnic brunch.

If cycling is more your thing, there’s nowhere better than the Drakes Trail. It connects South and Nor th Devon and is easily accessible via a mile of countr y lane.

5 BUR R ATOR RESER VOIR Burrator is one of many reser voirs on Dar tmoor. Other great examples are Avon Dam and Venford.

EDEN PR O JEC T The Eden Project is great for kids and adults alike, there’s even a 660 metre zip-wire that reaches speeds of up to 60mph for the more adventurous types.

15 T I NTAGEL C A STL E, H OME OF KIN G AR THUR Tintagel Castle is most definitely wor th the drive. Visit the bronze statue, walk the spectacular Tintagel bridge, delve in Merlins cave and admire the water fall and of course the incredible views.

NATIONAL MARINE AQUARIUM The National Marine Aquarium is run by the Ocean Conser vation Trust and is the largest aquarium in the UK.

17 P LYMO U T H The water front city of Plymouth, has loads of activities on offer including: cinema, bowling, ice skating, theatre, clay ar t, clip and climb, swimming, harbour tours, a gin distiller y, soft play, the Mayflower museum, a trampoline park and a vir tual reality centre.

18 F UR THE R AF IE L D For those willing to travel the extra mile, why not take a tour of Exeter ’s medieval subterranean passageways, visit the Beer Quarr y Caves, go fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, or enjoy a day of family fun at Crealy Adventure Park.
