When we reflect on the 136-year legacy of First United Methodist Church Richardson, it’s easy to see the buildings, programs, and events. Let us never forget the people - those who came before us charting a path to where we are today. Through community growth, periods of uncertainty, and cultural changes, they were steadfast in their commitment to this growing family of faith.

As we begin 2023, we take the time to consider where we have been, to express gratitude in the present, and to celebrate in the hope for the future.

We invite you to prayerfully consider your upcoming commitment to the Annual Campaign. Please know that all gifts of all amounts matter. We may make small differences individually, but together we truly can make life-changing impacts. We look forward with great anticipation to the tomorrows that begin today!

today we welcome all

We’re blessed to be a family of faith who welcomes everyone. Always.

today we build connections

Whether they’re connections for a season or for a lifetime, we were made to walk alongside one another in community. As we face the mountains and valleys life may bring, we’re surrounded by the loving care of others. It’s a resounding hope that FUMCR is a place where anyone may “find their people.”

today we worship together

Our time worshiping together is one of the strongest ties that bind us. From Belton, TX, to Hoschton, GA, to Manitoba, Canada, our family of faith gathers to worship each week both in person and on screens. We’ve been reminded that our worship extends far beyond the walls of the church and sometimes far beyond Sunday morning.

today we serve together

John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, challenged many to “do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can.…” We continue to live out those words today. While passionately serving people with Christ, we aspire to make a positive impact on the lives of our neighbors while building strong relationships along the way.

today we grow in our faith

Learning is for a lifetime! We believe in the power of asking questions, seeking experiences, and learning from one another. From our youngest children to our senior adults, we’re blessed by the opportunities to grow deeper in our faith.

today we celebrate together

Our celebrations come in packages both big and small - a child receiving their first Bible, a bride walking down the aisle of the sanctuary, or even a very first Easter egg hunt. We celebrate these moments together that are deeply rooted in a love for God and a love for one another.
