Welcome to our September Issue of Full Throttle Magazine. Even as the season begins to unwind there are still some great events going on this month. Hard to believe I was just writing that spring is approaching and now we have fall right around the corner. Cindy and I just got back from another GREAT year at Sturgis. The crowd was much, much smaller than last year which makes getting around much simpler and jumping into a Page 10-12 Historic Route 66 Bike Night® restaurant to eat much quicker. If you have never been to Sturgis, it should definitely be put on your bucket list. Page 17: Crack Up’s It is a great place to see the most motorcycles you’ll Page 18: Reminicing ever see in one place and a great place to people watch. REMINICING

Hey, everybody! Phillip Bruno, here! With Summer giving way to fall, I wanted to reminisce. As we all go back to the swing of things with school and work, let’s look back at those ride memories that get bring a smile to our face! My favorite ride was going through Yellowstone National Park. This place was on my list of places to go since I was a child, and it met all of my expectations. My first experience was riding through the Northwest Entrance of the park. Covered with construction and mud roads, we had some fun really being able to test out our riding ability. I was soaking it all in, and laughing due to all the excitement on what is waiting for us on the other side. After going through the construction, I saw was some of the tallest Redwoods I have ever seen. As far as I could see was grass, trees, water, and elk. Those elk sure were friendly, wandering all over the roads! As we rode through, my dad and I wanted to see some of the sites. We went the long way to the Old Faithful Inn. The top three places that we hit were the waterfalls of Yellowstone, Midland Geyser, and Old Faithful. Being on two wheels, I was able to take in the sites by not only visual, but feel and smell as well. As we rode closer to the waterfalls, I could smell the area around me going from the scents of Redwoods to the fresh scent of running water. Just amazing!!! If it was not for being on two wheels, I would have never experienced that in my life. Even better was the ride from the waterfall to the geyser. Going from running water to the scent of sulfur, it was unbelievable! I know the smell of sulfur is not great, but I enjoyed it because of the anticipation of what I was about to see. The Midland Geyser is something you can only see in magazines I thought, but once I got there, my emotion from the sight of it was exactly what National Geographic described. Beauty and Awe!!!Then you have Old Faithful... there aren’t really words.... we just soaked in the moment. Breathtaking. Our riding time was supposed to be a quick two hour ride, but with all the sights and enjoyment of the area, we were able to ride for 8 hours that day. That is a moment that I will share with that group for ever. Not only I was able to see something I have been dreaming of since I was a child, but I was able to do this on two wheels with my dad. That will be a memory that will never be forgotten. On motorcycle you always find a way to take a long way home, and this part of the trip was exactly that. As we all ride our motorcycles, make sure you find the time to look around at your accomplishments. As a motorcyclist, I find myself not taking as much for granted and going out of my way to enjoy every moment that I get in life. Let us make sure that you get that gift, and I will help you on your journey and this amazing new lifestyle you want to be a part of. Come on in, we want to hear your stories and help you make new ones! See you soon!

Wild Mustang

Written By, Dee Rock

ashville’s own Dee Rock has been very busy with some really cool projects as well as recently releasing his new single Wild Mustang which was written, produced & performed by Dee Rock. The meaning of the song; letting your spirit be as free as the wild mustang. Running wild, running free has truly been embraced with listeners saying its a one of a kind song.Dee called up a few friends and amazing musicians to play on his song such as Larry Rolens on pedal steel, who has toured with the Bellamy Brothers for over 10 years and played with Gretchen Wilson. Tramp, on fiddle, formerly of the band Bonepony and the Cactus Brothers, and is also Dee Rock’s fellow cast member on the upcoming westernTV series Big Sky. Special guest Victor Gage is Cherokee and Lakota Sioux. Victor’s amazing Native American vocal chant which starts Wild Mustang, stirs your soul right from the beginning. Victor is well known from his days spent acting on Walker Texas Ranger. His new tv series is called Lore and is also another fellow cast member on the upcoming western TV series Big Sky. One of the projects Dee is proud to be associated with is the Forgotten soldiers project. This project is a collaboration with Home Front Equestrians, as a way of honoring military children and helping them while their parents are deployed fighting for our freedom and liberty. Dee wrote a great song called Forgotten Soldiers (you will never be) with a large portion of the song proceeds being donated to help our military kids Nashville will be rocking on September 18th. Dee Rock and Indie artists from around the world will gather in Music City for the Josie Awards being held at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. This is Dee Rock’s second year in a row being nominated for his music. Dee will take the stage this year at the award show and perform his latest release Wild Mustang! Dee was recently asked to be a part of a compilation CD for the valkyrie initiative giving back to our soldiers who suffer from PTSD. This CD has some great songs from some amazing artists who have served our country. On September 24th in Battleground Alabama, Dee will be peforming at the Valkyrie Initiative Launch party along with Navy corpsman and former Madison Rising singer Dave Bray and Blackhawk helicopter pilot, now country artist Ryan Weaver. On Dee’s journey he’s met some amazing people and Timothy White and Gina white are certainly two of those people. They are the founders of Helping Heroes, an organization that gives back to those who have risked everything to save a person’s life and have been severely injured in the process, whether it be in the military, a First Responder or an everyday citizen. He proud to be an ambassador for Helping Heroes and I support the work they do for our American Heroes. We started off by saying Dee’s been busy with some cool projects and his new upcoming CD which he is currently recording is going to be a Rockin Rodeo. For this CD Dee is saying no limits and by that he means no cookie cutter music but getting back to the days when an artist took chances and didn’t just give you the same record as before with a different album cover. Expect some really great songs in this new collection and just push play! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

A Name You Can Trust Hi Full Throttle readers. Who has heard of Gene’s Gallery in Springfield, MO. Well, if you haven’t, you definitely need to go and check them out. Owner Greg Mcnabb just recently relocated to an 8,500 square foot shop in there 39th year of business, and trust me it is awesome. Being in business for those 39 years, he has earned a lot of biker’s trust. Which if you don’t know any bikers, it can be a little tricky to earn their trust when it comes to working on their motorcycles. He has also earned the Top 100 Dealer of the Year in 2014 and the Top USA R-18 Dealer of the Year in 2014. Greg Mcnabb bought the company in 1989 from Gene and Peggy Webb, then, located in a 900 square foot building. Gregg has done a great job at growing his business, and the most important element to his business is, their customers always come FIRST. You never have to worry about your bike or trike when you leave it with them because any repairs or installs will be done right the first time. They pride themselves by utilizing Honda and Harley trained service technicians. There techs can do anything from a simple oil or tire change, to building your dream trike. Specializing in building Honda and Harley Davidson trikes, they have many kits to choose from, such as Champion, Motortrike, Hannigan, and Roadsmith. They even carry the Honda R-18 reverse trike kit, which looks a lot like the Can-Am Spyder. Genes Gallery offers a great sales team providing you with a vast knowledge of their pre-owned bikes and trikes. Having a large service and parts department, and lots of unique accessories, should allow you to customize your bike or trike any way you choose. For those hard to find Honda Goldwing parts and accessories Genes Gallery is the only shop in the Midwest that have these parts available. You may not even be able to find these parts at a certified Honda motorcycle dealership. If they don’t have a part you need they will order it for you. It’s very important to maintain your trike and/or motorcycle, they will make sure that your ride will run for years. If it is having problems, they will diagnose and repair it; all at a very reasonable price. I don’t know too many motorcycle dealerships/service centers’ that will go that extra mile to insure a high quality of customer service. So for those of you that live in the Springfield area, and have never heard of Gene’s Gallery, you better go and check them out. CVO Pro Stree How’s it going Full Throttle readers, Zach White here to give you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. Hope you enjoy this article and looking forward to many more! The summer is coming to an end and The 2017 Harley-Davidson are going to be hitting the streets. We have two more bike nights left 9/1 & 9/22. If you haven’t made it out to the biggest bike night in the area make sure you do for one of the last! This month I want to feature the newest CVO (custom vehicle operation) motorycle that HarleyDavidson released ½ way through the year, the Pro Street Softail Breakout. They really blacked out this bike right from the factory. Also the custom paint gives it that simple but amazing race stance that this bike brings to the road. From front to back this bike really has an aggressive look and feel to get you from stop light to stop light as well as off the line with out any hesitation. Let’s get started with some of the many key features that really sets this bike apart from the standard Softail Breakout. As you all can see, your eyes go to the front end first with the all new blacked out 43mm inverted front forks and dual disc front brakes. The suspension will give you what you need to get off the line and stick as well as hitting a corner and coming out with all the worries behind. With the ABS dual disc front brakes the fear of not being able to slow down fast enough is no longer a problem! Now to what this bike is rolling on. The blacked out Aggressor 5 spoke front and rear wheels give it the attitude this bike needs. As we move on back the bike you will see the speed screen cowl around the LED Daymaker Headlight and down the frame the chin spoiler. Both of these to features just Page 34

eet Breakout really finish the pro street look up front. Now for the heart of this motorcycle you will see some big changes that might not stand out at first but the more you look the more it does. Not only do you have the Screamin’ Eagle 110” B motor with 112 ft lbs torque to get you where you need to be. This year Harley-Davidson for the first time has a NEW smoked satin chrome and WOW does it look great. From the Handlebars to all the engine components it really puts a new look on the blacked out stealth theme we have seen. To help with getting everything out of the motor the clutch has been upgraded to a high performance assist & slip hydraulic clutch. Also for your seat it has a race inspired look that will make sure you are stuck in the saddle and not moving back. Another great feature for the long road in front of you is the electric cruise control that will give you the relaxed feel just cruising down the highway. Last another awesome feature is the key less ignition with security and siren. So when you walk up with your fob it is ready to fire up and then when you park to go inside you know that your investment is protected. This new CVO has so many features and technology into it that you will have to just see for yourself, so come on in and see it up close before its gone. We are looking forward to what the 2017 model year brings to us and to you. Thanks again for taking the time to read this and please come into St. Charles Harley-Davidson and ask for me, Zach White or give me a call @ 636-946-6487 and also by email, zach@ stcharlesharleydavidson.com to set up a consultation with me! TUNING OU Welcome back Full Throttle readers and riders! Most of y’all are coming back from Sturgis or maybe just a nice long Sunday ride and it’s no doubt summer has been good to us! But it seems as though fall is peeking right around the corner and it’s time to head back to the drawing boards to start on whatever project you may have in mind. There is always a long list of wants and needs for the bike but these days it seems that list has gotten a bit shorter due to our friendly neighborhood government appointed EPA officials.

was able to rebound a bit. Beyond the loss of revenue, we have the loss of freedom to modify ones motorcycle. Now I’m not trying to sound greedy but this is a VERY LARGE portion of our daily business. I mean, ask yourself why you bought that beautiful piece of V-Twin history. For the feel and the sound! Nothing else on the planet sounds like our Harleys and now the Government is looking to take that right away from us. What gives them the right? Why would the government do this? What will the future hold? Well let’s start with As most of us have the facts. The race tuner has seen our beloved Motor Company is under the been sold for almost two decades with the latest media microscope once again. For once I would updated product being the “EFI Screaming have welcomed another recall announcement. Eagle Super tuner” from 2008. This product Yep, you’ve seen it, the nice little news article allows a skilled tuner to change the properties plastered on every major website that read and parameters of the ECM on bike, the result “Harley-Davidson pays $15M to settle EPA’s is a much faster bike but also a bike that is emissions claims”. When I opened the article now outside of EPA and DOT compliance. my heart stopped As a manufacturer Harley is held to higher and my mind standers, and expected to follow EPA and DOT started to race, I was regulations. Aftermarket companies such as literally watching DynaJet aka Power Commander can dodge money fly out of this much like Harley has in past declaring the the factories, the product a “race application only” or clearly dealers, as well marked as “off road product only”, well that as my hands. As I is until now. So the problem does come down read on more and to the fact that motorcycles do in fact burn more dollar signs just spilled off the computer raw fuel in comparison to a full size SUV. The screen and on to the floor. The stock itself EPA use a form of measurement called PPM took a heavy hit upon this announcement but or Parts per million. PPM is commonly used Page 38

www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

UT THE BULL! as a measure of small levels of pollutants in air, water, etc. For example a Ford Excursion puts out something like .094 PPM where most Harleys burn up two to three times that. And that brings us to the “WHY”. Well we have our good ole friends in Germany at Volkswagen to thank for that, yes that whole debacle in regards to tampering with ECM and emissions output has put everyone on the evil empire that is the EPA’s radar. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not all for nuking the hump back whales or clubbing all the baby seals or am I fan of littering or destroying the planet and I’m not a conspiracy theorist who doesn’t believe global warming is a thing. But I do ask why are they go after the weekend warriors who ride on the weekends and maybe one or two yearly trips across this great nation. We are talking about an agency that “accidently” ruined a river in Colorado by spilling one million gallons of waste including lead, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum and copper in to a river turning the water itself into a brownish yellow color and forcing state officials to close the river

to public access. Or let’s talk about a situation a little closer to home, our wonderful nuclear landfill fire burning in Earth city. EPA has that under control right? Wrong, so they move on to easier targets like Harley and the Aftermarket business and move to hold those accountable. But who holds them to the same standard?

“The installation of Non-Harley-Davidson performance parts put the OEM warranty on the powertrain at RISK”

As for myself and others in the same industry, hell those in the same city working as competition are all kinda in shock? Where do we go from here? There will be a replacement tuner with limited applications and there is always the aftermarket, but Harley has made it very clear that the factory will not tolerate any aftermarket products to the motor as “the installation of non-Harley-Davidson performance parts put the OEM warranty on the powertrain at risk”. This has been the case in the past but Harley has turned a blind eye for the most part away from the mild applications. That day is gone. We will be watched and face the consequences. As for those with 2016 and older bikes there are still plenty of options to choose from to tune your bike, but the real question is, for how long? Thanks for stopping by and y’all enjoy the ride! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

MID AMERICA HARLEY-DAVIDSON In June of 2016 Steve and Laura Pecoraro made a huge step in their life’s new adventure. They became the proud new owners of Mid-America Harley-Davidson in Columbia, MO. They had been working so hard for months to try and buy the dealership, about 8 months to be exact. To say the least, Steve and Laura were ecstatic when they finally closed and became the proud new owners of Mid-America Harley-Davidson. The Pecoraro family is a true HARLEY family; caring about their Harley customers, their Brand, and all the fun and excitement that comes with having that title. Prior to owning the dealership, Steve had owned and operated a large transportation company in St. Louis for several years. His wife, Laura, spent 25 plus years as a managing partner in her family’s manufacturing business. But they were both looking for a new life venture. They wanted to do something that they both had a huge passion for. So, they sold their companies and started looking for that next big adventure. When they heard that a Harley-Davidson dealer was for sale in Missouri they got very excited. But, they had to check it out for themselves and see if this rumor was true; sure enough it was true. They started working on trying to buy the dealership. Steve has been an avid rider and motorcycle enthusiast since he was very young, and over the years he and wife have made so many great memories riding his Harley-Davidson. They knew with the Harley-Davidson brand and reputation, that this was the ideal opportunity, and they made their dream a reality!

plan that Sunday ride. Page 46

Since Steve and Laura bought the dealership they have made some huge changes and a lot more to come in the future. One of the first major changes at MidAmerica Harley-Davidson is, they will now be open on Sunday’s. Which was a smart move on their part, because there are a lot more bikers that have the time to

- NEW OWNERSHIP, BIG CHANGES

Their entire goal is to make the dealership into a destination place. Not only do you have a place to ride and check out the latest Harley-Davidson Motorcycle models and motorclothes (Which, by the way, you need to check out their shirt wall. It’s awesome) but, they want to make you feel at home when you arrive. You can drink a cup of coffee, eat a bag of popcorn, and check out all that Harley-Davidson has to offer. One of the greatest things they do at Mid-America is how they make their customers feel like family. You don’t have to purchase a bike from them to become part of the family. They will make every customer feel welcome and always put their needs FIRST. The moment you walk into their dealership you will feel at ease and want to stay for a while. In this world of chaos, Steve and Laura try promote equality among the motorcycle world. There are so many different people that own Harley’s. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. You could be a retired multimillionaire or a blue collar worker, but when you are all together at an event or just on a weekend ride nobody cares what you do or who you are. Everyone is treated equally and with respect. When you are riding, you are just part of the family. They also truly enjoy all of the different interesting people they get to meet. Some of them live in the area or some are on a ride from out of state. No matter who you are, what you do, or where you’re from make sure you ride out to Mid-America Harley-Davidson. So whether you are in the area or just want to take a nice ride, you need to stop in and meet Steve and Laura and the Mid-America Harley-Davidson family. Then you can say you are part of the family. They are awesome down to earth people who truly care about their customers, making them happy and feeling like you’re at home when you visit.

She’s so rock steady and she’s always ready. Whoa, Black Betty. MEET BETTY. She’s a 2014 Ultra Classic and my third Harley Davidson motorcycle. Awhile back, I stopped by Mid-America Harley Davidson to get a quart of oil for my old 2009 Ultra Classic. When I walked in, Betty was sitting on the show room floor and it was love at first sight. Of course, as I was gaping at her beauty, they told me to take her for a test drive. It was game over after that. From that day on, Betty has always been ready to hit the open road with me. She’s my dream ride.

I STARTED RIDING when I got my first bike at 13 for a Christmas present. I bought my first Harley motorcycle in

1978 and have been hooked ever since. I’ve ridden Harleys in France, Italy, Germany, England and Brazil. I’ve traveled thousands of miles by motorcycle. The longest ride I’ve taken was from D.C. to California – 3,000 miles of just me and my bike. There’s nothing like it – riding with Betty is exhilarating. The sound of the wind is like music and the unobstructed view of the scenery is incredible.

WHEN IT’S BETTY AND I getting lost on the road, I’m not just riding a motorcycle. It’s so much more. You won’t understand why until you ride a Harley. It’s kind of like “Oh, Black Betty. BAM-BA-LAM.”

CYCLE HOUSE

Are you looking for a great shop for service, repairs, performance upgrades, powder coating, dyno tuning and even vapor blasting? Then you need to go see Jerry Pesek, owner of Cycle House Performance, conveniently located in Crestwood, MO Near highway 270, HWY 44, and HWY 55. Jerry has been in the motorcycle industry for a little over 45 years. He takes pride in every project that he does and all of his work is done in house. Having so many years of experience, he truly knows what he’s doing.

Jerry has always liked being his own boss and owning his own business. Aspiring to be a true entrepreneur, he was only 22 years old when he started his first business: MPC, Motorcycle Performance Center, located in Florissant Mo. That’s when he really figured out he liked working for himself.

Being the boss comes with a lot more freedom, but what most people don’t understand is the headache and responsibility that also comes with that title. It’s definitely not an easy job. A lot of people have tried it and failed. But not Jerry, MPC was there for 14 years; which is pretty amazing for your first business.

Jerry ended up having to close down the shop forcing him to work for other people. But that didn’t last too long, he didn’t like not being in charge. In 2010 he found the location in Crestwood where he wanted to open a new performance shop, Cycle House Performance. That was a great location for him because it was close to a lot of major highways and got a lot of traffic. So he decided to open up a new shop. What makes Cycle House Performance stand out from a lot of other repair shop is the capability of working on a wide variety of motorcycles, anything from sport bikes to the v-twin’s. Specializing is Dyno Turning, they have the ability to properly diagnosis any issues or ailments your bike may be experiencing. On top of Jerry employing some of the best technicians in the business, he has a Race Tech Certified Technician on staff for any suspension work you might need. One of his main goals is to get the customer back on their bikes happier than they were when they dropped it off. Once you go there and talk to him

or any of his staff, you will be a lifetime customer. They will treat you with respect and give you the honest answers, even if it’s not what you want to hear. But, as the saying goes; “You can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time.” Either way, always know that you and your bike will be in the best possible care. Are you restoring a bike? Or may have some old dirty parts you want clean up? You need to go check out this new Vapor Blasting at Cycle House. To be honestly, when I called Jerry to interview him I had never even heard of Vapor Blasting. This process is very neat and very effective. It is very similar to sand blasting or glass bead blasting, but more effective. It is a whole new process that uses very small glass beads, mixed with water and high pressure. It will clean an old part no matter how dirty it is and make it look factory new. Power Coating has been around for a long time; but what I didn’t realize was, how cool the process. Cycle House Performance proudly offers a full powder coating service. First they will sand blast all your parts down to bare metal before applying the powder. Then they tape off and plug any necessary passages along with pulling bearings and dismount tires. All you have to do is Not the Biggest, Just the BEST bring them your parts or your whole bike and tell 314-270-3312 them what you want done. Specializing Powder coating can be applied to almost any in Dyno Tuning metal or aluminum surface. It is anti-corrosive, long lasting, and looks great. Colors and effects are much AND easier and cost effective to create when compared to paint. It is more durable and less likely to scratch as Powder Coating well as being eco-friendly and cures much quicker. Finishes include gloss, texture, mirror, translucent, candy, matte, and many more. Powder coating is one of the easiest ways to customize your ride. They NOW OFFERING VAPOR BLASTING stock almost 100 colors and if they don’t have it, After they can get it, fast! If it fits in their walk in oven (6’x4’x3.5’), they can powder coat it for you.

Cycle House Performance

So if you need anything at all done to your bike, ANYTHING, you need to go and talk to the staff at Cycle House Performance. They are great people who truly care about their customers. They won’t let you down.
