ometimes, you just want to stand out and be yourself. When you look at this bike, the first thing you notice is the monster 26” Performance Machine Heathen front wheel. While several of the big wheel kits available require cutting the neck of the frame and welding on a new one, we wanted to give our customer the custom look but didn’t want to sacrifice the integrity of the frame. This is why we chose a bolt-on kit from American Suspension that would provide us with the necessary rake without any further frame modifications. We paired it with a custom-wrapped front fender and chin spoiler to set-off the front of the bike. When you get that rake just right, you want to have the flow continue through your bike. One way to create that flow is to create a fluid line from front fork to the tip of the back fender. Some feel that when they create a custom look, they want to “fill the gaps” and create a showstopping piece, where the eye moves seamlessly from front to back of the bike. To do this, we utilized a Baddad Competition Series stretched fuel tank shroud that extends to connect their matching Baddad stretched side cover and flows into the Baddad Summit rear fender, complete with LED rear lights and license plate mounts. Baddad competition mufflers fill out the rear fender, adding the final touch to the sleek profile. If you want to be noticed, you know that sound is a great weapon for that cause. Whether that is a loud engine or a killer sound system, you know that those are the tools of the trade for getting some attention. Our customer knew he wanted to hear his music as he cruised, so he chose to add a custom audio system, complete with saddlebag mounted speakers. Not only do they provide superior sound as you are rolling down the road, they add character to your bike’s aesthetic. Why stop there? The customer didn’t think we should, and we definitely agreed! We proceeded to black out key components to add a sinister look to the smooth Sand Camo paint. The contrast that resulted did not disappoint! We first blacked out the engine, with a few contrast cut pieces from the Burst Collection for interest, such as the derby cover, cam cover and air cleaner cover. Once we had done that, we felt we wanted to carry the look throughout the bike, so we added a few more contrast cut items for effect, including the fork slider covers, windshield trim and saddlebag latch covers. This helped the bike feel more cohesive and added a really polished, yet badass, look to the bike overall. No detail is too small and no idea is too big. That is what builds teach us time and time again. Without the rake, this would not be the bike the customer had envisioned. Without the contrast cut derby cover, this would not be the bike that the customer had envisioned. Every part, no matter the size, makes the bike unique. Every change you make changes the bike more and more- makes it more you. Don’t ever think your dream isn’t worth building, or that it can’t be done. No matter the changes, we want to help you make them here at Doc’s. We love making dream bikes! Stop by and see us and let’s get started! I’m Steve Scrafford, the Parts Manager, and I’m always here for you! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

Fall is officially underway and winter unfortunately is right around the corner. It’s been a great season for all of us bikers and with a little luck we will have another unseasonably warm winter with little to no snow. I personally ride year round like many of you and always look forward to those winter days that are warmer than normal and make a winter run very enjoyable. I’m not one who winterizes my bike because I use it all year long. But if you are the type that winterizes your bike the time for that is drawing closer. I want to thanks everyone who came out to the bike nights that Full Throttle Magazine sponsored this year and thank the three business partners we had for bike night for their great support of the biker community and for giving us awesome places to have bike night. The bike night this year were extremely successful thanks to you, the riders for your loyalty in coming out for these events. Again, our special thanks go out to the establishments that held the bike night. Bobby’s Place in Valley Park, One Eyed Willies in South County and Geo Wings in Belleville. We look forward to being back next year with even bigger and better Bike Nights so keep an eye out for the news of new things coming next year. The STL Motorcycle Show is coming back for the 4th annual show at the Dome in the America’s Center on January 13th and 14th. The show promises to be bigger and better than any year in the past. A couple of the great attractions will be over 75 custom and vintage bikes on display. Performances daily by Tim Dyson FMX Stunt team. Lots of Vendors, dealer and most major Motorcycle manufactures displaying their bikes and accessories. This year’s show is looking like a great weekend for bikes and a show you definitely want to attend. There are buy one get one free tickets available in Full Throttle Magazine this month and every month through January. All of us who help put Full Throttle Magazine together want to thank every business and all of you, the riders, readers and our fans who support our magazine and helped make this a great season. I also want to thank a few of our staff members, Andrew Blanton, Nick Gaines and Denis Niederhoffer for always giving the extra effort to make sure our magazine is the “Number One” Free Motorcycle Magazine in the Midwest. As always, ride safe my friends and see you on the road with Full Throttle Magazine. Bob

4Th Annual STL Hello again; yup, I’m in writing mode once more. I can’t believe we are already wrapping up 2017. November is here and plans are already in the works for Turkey Day, Christmas and New Years. Times sure flies when you are having fun. Today, I want to skip right over the turkey, Jolly Ole Saint Nick and Auld Lang Syne and head straight to what is going to be the best year event yet…..the 2018 4th Annual STL Motorcycle Show. Being held on January 13 and 14, 2018 in the Dome at the America’s Center, this event is sure to exceed years past. There will be over seventy-five custom and vintage motorcycles lined up all throughout the event for your viewing pleasure. Hundreds of new and used motorcycles featuring almost every major manufacturer and a wide variety of local dealers set up to answer any questions you might have. This year’s entertainment will keep you on the edge of your seat. The Tim Dyson FMX Stunt Team will be performing throughout both days. Many years ago St. Louis experience many different types of Motorcycle show events. Where all the different manufacturers, local dealers and a multitude of vendors can gather in one Page 26

Motorcycle Show place to show off their latest and greatest products. It eventually went away leaving this empty void. Four years ago, President of EpicSTL Productions, Joe Rusch wanted to bring life back into this type of show, pumping blood back into us all here in the Lou. He thought, “St. Louis still has The Car Show, The Boat Show and The RV show; why not bring back The Motorcycle Show!” Taking place during the “OffSeason”, this show is designed to get us out of our hibernation mode and excited about the upcoming riding season. Seeing faces that we may not have seen for a couple of months; visiting dealerships and vendors that you might not have patronized in a while or just saying hello to old friends. The STL Motorcycle show is the best place to do just that! All of us at Full Throttle Magazine Midwest will also be there covering this event as one of their Media Sponsors. Our camera will be clicking away so we can capture all your smiling faces. Make sure your stop by our booth or track us down as we make our way through the crowds. We hope to see you all there for the 4th Annual Motorcycle Show. For ticket information, check out their ad in this month’s issue or go to www.stlmotorcycleshow.com www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

“LIGHT” O W

elcome back Full Throttle readers and riders! Fall is officially in full swing with all its colors, bon fires and cooler weather. All the guys and ghouls have had their Halloween fun and ole Tom Turkey is well on his way to making it to the dinner for the family gatherings. Unbeknownst to our friend Tom, he is on the menu and not on the guest list. Dig in folks the holidays are upon us! As the trees turn and the pumpkin spiced everything hit the shelves we notice the cooler temps and the skies getting much darker much sooner. But as all of us know the colder weather and beautiful dusk fall evenings aren’t gonna stop us from squeezing those last couple of miles in before some of us start tucking the bike in for its winters nap. I have covered proper lighting a few times before but again the market keeps improving and is ever changing. Most of our 2018 Harley-Davidson models are now coming equipped with L.E.D lighting straight from the factory floor and this is a great thing! But not everyone is in the market for a new 2018 redesigned Softail not the mention that can be an expensive price tag to just get some better lighting onto the road. Makes that five hundred dollar Harley-Davidson Day Maker head lamp seem affordable. Yet still some folks aren’t in the market or have the budget to work in a light with that kind of price tag. With that being said nothing in my personal opinion compares to the Harley Day Maker lighting systems. It’s what I run on my Road King and I love it and can’t emphasize enough how amazing this light is. These Harley projection style L.E.D set ups have even themselves been improved from the first generation of lights. They now cast more light further down the road as well into some of the “dark spots” at the far lower left and right of the head lamp. Not only will you see everything in front of you but you will also be seen at night and as well as at high noon day light as the lamps are a brilliant bright white that is hard to miss. These lights can run from about $399.95 all the way up to $900 dollars depending on how many lights you need and the size and again this is a Page 30

ON FUNDS hefty price tag but I can attest well worth the money spent and carry a one year warranty. Now if that’s not in your budget that doesn’t mean you have to suffer in the dark ages with that H4 bulb that was debuted somewhere around 1971. It’s time to see the light without breaking the budget! As I said the market is fluid and constantly changing and with those changes come more affordable options for your bike. There are two L.E.D replacement headlight bulbs that we have had much success in selling. The first being Cyrons replacement bulb unit for $64.95 that fits most headlamps and burns at about 2800 lumens and has a rated burn life of about 20,000 hours and features a one year warranty. They also offer replacement passing lamp bulbs for $69.95 a pair to complete the look and effectiveness of your lighting system should you have passing lamps. Your second option is one that I tend to favor and that’s the Rivco bulb. This L.E.D burns a little brighter at 3000 lumens which is twice as much as your standard H4 bulb and is also rated at 20,000 burn hours. The second reason I tend to lean towards Rivco is their industry leading warranty at two years. Again they carry options for your passing lamps at $79.95 should you have them. Both companies feature internal ballasts and active heat management systems to cool the lamp and mother board itself. We have a great Rivco display on the sales floor as well as in our service department to show you first hand the effectiveness of this particular product. For a price tag under $200 bucks why wouldn’t you take the time and money to protect yourself and your investment? Keep in mind you can also upgrade your turn signals and brake lights to L.E.D’s to complete the overall function. Again these products are not just for seeing the things that go bump in the night they will also help you be seen during the day. Come on by St Charles Harley-Davidson and check out all the options we have to offer. If you have questions we’ve got answers! Thanks for stopping by and y’all enjoy the ride www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

“REDRUM”

ow’s it going Full Throttle readers, Zach White here to give you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles HarleyDavidson. Hope you all are enjoying this Fall riding season as the leaf’s are changing and the cool morning and evenings are back. Winter is approaching us and the leather’s and heated gear will be coming out full time. That is unless you are putting your bike away and waiting for the limited nice days we will see. This month I want to feature one of our salesmans new Road King Special and man is it murdered out. The Hard Candy Hot Red Flake Road King Special stands out just from the factory with its complete blacked out look from front to back. It is rocking the Milwakee Eight engine to give you the power you need. Another great feature right from the factory is the Stretched Saddlebags. These really give it that low stance in the rear. As always though you can’t just keep in stock and be riding around seeing your exact bike parked next to you. So we got together and really tried some new product for the shop and changed it up just the way he wanted it. Starting at the front and the biggest change to the bike is the completely black 23” Big Fatty wheel. This was made by SMT Machining a company we have never used before so was really looking forward to seeing hands on the quilty. It came out perfect and we will be using them in the future. To accompany the wheel we got a matching 13” rotor. To finish up the front end and really make the right side open up we went with a HHI black front end and 6 piston caliper. To keep everything open and exposed we used the wrap around fender from HHI as well. Moving to the middle of the bike you will see another first install from us and what really keeps the lines low are the Misfit 8” black handlebars. The bars give you that drag bar feel Page 34

but at a comfortable height. To give the bike some rumble and some more throttle response we installed Cobra’s powerport headers and mixed it up for the slip-on and went with Two Brothers slip-on. The sound with the header and slip-on combination is the best we have all heard coming out the end of the all new Milwaukee Eight motor. To finish off the rear end of the motorcycle and really finish off the already factory stretched saddlebags we installed the CVO stretched rear fender.

The list goes on and on so come up and check it out at the dealership. Thanks again for taking the time to read this and please come into St. Charles Harley-Davidson and ask for me, Zach White or give me a call @ 636-946-6487 and also by email, zach@stcharlesharleydavidson. com to set a consultation with me! I’m here to make all your Harley-Davidson dreams come true!
