The Essentials Whether you’re riding your bike to that fun destination, or you’re giving it a break and keeping on

the trailer; there are things that you’re going to need to make sure your bike is safe and ready to ride. When trailering your motorcycle, it’s very important to make sure it’s not only tied down correctly, but the equipment you’re using is up to standard to keep your bike in place. One thing that will make your experience easier is a Cruiser Cradle Wheel Chock from HarleyDavidson. This thing can hold vehicles that weigh up to 3000lb so rest assured, it’s sturdy! The wheels chock can also support bike with a wide range of wheels sizes, anywhere from 14” to 22”. The Cruiser Cradle Trailer Adapter Kit is engineered to simplify installation if the Cruiser Cradle Wheel Chock on many trailers, you simply mount the low-profile kit to the floor of your trailer and the Cruiser Cradle can be attached in seconds without tools. Now the wheels chalk isn’t going to hold that bike alone. You need straps as well. There are a ton of straps in the market that are available, but we recommend a tried and true product. The Harley-Davidson 1.5” gradual release ratchet tie down straps give a whole new meaning to heavy-duty. These straps provide maximum tensioning power and a higher working load capacity with the benefit of being able to release the tension one click at a time. The strap also features heavy duty 6000 lbs abrasion resistant Nylon webbing, a builtin soft hook with vinyl coated full size “S” hook on the fized end and a large closed end carabiner hook on the adjustable end to keep it hooked securely during the tie-down process. If you’re worried about your bike getting scratched from tie-downs have no fear, the Harley-Davidson Fleece Soft Hooks are the product you need. The Soft Hooks are designed to keep ratchets, hooks and buckles away from delicate surfaces. One more thing for those of you who decide to trailer to your destination, if you have security system on your motorcycle, it is important to place it in transport mode before taking off. Otherwise you will show up to your destination with a dead battery. Simply placing your key fob on your motorcycle is not enough. If you need instructions on how to place your

It’s certainly been a rainy spring thus far. I’m looking forwards to more dry weather and great riding. The events have been happening everywhere and the attendance has been awesome. Historic Route 66 Bike Nights at Bobby’s Place in Valley Park have been great and we certainly appreciate all the support and riders that attend our weekly Bike Night. The Weds night event has grown to be the largest and best weekly Bike Night we have here in the St Louis Area. Big St Charles Bike Night finally got their Bike Night pulled off and had they had their usual huge crowd and the many things happening that they always have. The Calendar Girl Contest was a great crowd pleaser as always, with some of the best looking ladies in town competing for the title. That event happens the first Thursday of each month. We are excited to team up with Social House in Soulard to offer a new Bike Night this year on the second Thursday of each month. The season opener was a success and they offer drink and food specials, live music and of course the Gorgeous Social House Ladies to add to the fun. I hope everyone will make this month’s Bike Night on Thursday June 13th. These are just a few of the many great Bike Nights going on. Check our Crusin’ Calendar or follow us on Facebook for more on Bike Night dates and many other events.

motorcycle in transport mode, come on in to Doc’s Harley-Davidson and we will gladly show you how to do it. When you go on a long ride, you’re going to have luggage. HarleyDavidson offers quite a few options for you to keep that luggage tied down. Harley-Davidson’s Black Cargo Nets are something that every rider should keep with their bike. These Cargo Nets feature vinyl-coated attaching hooks to hold your items down securely. These are perfect to hold additional luggage, or the souvenirs you pick up along the ride. Not only do you need a way to hold your luggage down, but a place to put it as well. Harley-Davidson offers many different luggage racks for every Harley. If you have a touring bike and you think you’ll need more than a little extra room for luggage the Air Wing or King H-D Luggage Racks would be a great option for you. You are even able to add a little extra lightng to the Air Wing luggage rack; The LED light functions as a running and brake light, drawing even more attention to your bike to help you be seen. W

ell, Hello again. I’m baaaack….well, at least for this issue. It’s nice to pop in now and again to say hello to all of our Full Throttle fans, readers and family. I know a lot of you get to see Bob a lot more than me, so I like to take these opportunities to chat with you for a bit; if that’s OK by you. This has been one of the craziest springs we’ve had for a while. SOOO MUCH……RAIN! WTH MOTHER NATURE! I mean COME ON, SERIOUSLY; us bikers need a break. Not to mention everyone in and around the flood zone areas. All our friends up in Grafton are sitting there biting their nails and rubbing their necks with aggravation because they should be making money by now and can’t. I’m praying that the rain stops and the high waters recede very soon. Once this place dries up a bit, we can hop on our iron horse saddles and take off down the road. There is much to explore this year. Historic Route 66 Bike Night started out with a great deal of momentum. Having the first three Wednesday’s in April sporting some amazing weather, allowing for all our Bike Night family to come out and play for the evening. And we too felt the effects of those icky rainy days as we also got rained out a couple of times. It’s sure does put a damper on our fun….pun intended! But the rain aside, Historic Route 66 Bike Nights are always full of fun and entertainment. Come out and see us every Wednesday night at Bobby’s Place in Valley Park. St Charles Harley-Davidson FINALLY had their first Bike Night of the season. After postponing about three maybe four times they got to let loose and it was a crazy night. Everyone was laughing, cutting up and watched as the St Charles Motorsport Calendar Girl Search kicked off. Free food filled every ones belly and drink specials to quenched their thirst. And live entertainment to keep you coming back for more. Always a great time at St. Chuck’s Bike Nights the first Thursday of each month. The Social House in Soulard is also jumping on the band wagon of Bike Nights. Their Bike Nights are the SECOND Thursday of each month and they are featuring live entertainment and some AMAZING food. Their friendly wait staff is always there to serve you with a smile. Mark your calendars and take a ride on the wild side. Then we have our friends on the east side of the river in Illinois. Barstool Gypsy is hosting a Bike Night called “Metal On Main”. This event is going on every Thursday and is shaping up to be a awesome time. All throughout the riding season, there is always places to ride and people to see. Taking a ride Page 24

down the south western region to TJ Bar and Grill for live entertainment and great food. Terry and Sue are great people that take pride in their establishment. Up North off N. Hwy 94, there’s West Alton Bar and Grill that always offer food and drink specials during the Blues and Cardinals Games. Live entertainment and a beautiful view of the summer sunset helps set the mood. Next time you are that directions give Susan a big smile and a hello. Doc’s Harley-Davidson is having their 64th Anniversary Party June 22-23. Can you believe it. 64 Big Ones! Doc’s has been the mainstay of the biking community for such a long time. Bob’s own father was great friends with Doc himself. Even though Bob’s dad road Indian’s at the time and was always spouting off that someone needed to have reliable transportation when your Harley’s would break down. But times have changed haven’t they? Mungenast Motorsports is always there to lend support to all our Military and First Responders and enjoys hosting the annual event Bike and Badge Ride. Which is coming up soon; dates to follow. Bikers and charity events seem to go hand in hand. Bikers have such an generous spirit and enjoy the gift of giving. Especially if the event caters to children. There are several charity events happening this season such as the 9th annual Charity Raffle Run on June 29 with proceeds to benefit Cardinal Glennon and the Ronald McDonald House. There’s the Fuel and Fire Charity event happening June 15 with proceeds to benefit St. Judes. There will be live music, vendors and 50/50 drawings. October 12-13, Ride for Wishes will be kicking into high gear to make sure the a special little someone will be able to have a wish come true. This is a great organization that does such an amazing job to help raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. Henry Barchet was a huge part of Ride for Wishes and put his heart and soul into this organization and he will truly be missed. RIP! Our very own Mrs. Kim Graf took over some of the reins to make sure this event stays true to Henry’s dream. As you can see, there is so much stuff to do, see and experience. We hope you can make every event or at least a few. We hope you stop by and patronize all of different establishments around town. But first and foremost, be safe out there while you are on your bikes. There are so many distracted drivers, I wouldn’t want to hear of anyone else getting hurt. Lord knows there has already been so many just in the short time of the riding season. Stay safe! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

Written By Zach White

“115th An

How’s it going Full Throttle readers? Zach White here to give you the latest

and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. Spring has been a wet one for us but we finally kicked off our first bike night the 3rd week in May. Thank you all who made it out and looking forward to many more all summer. Hope everyone has stayed dry and out enjoying the sun as summer seems like its here already! This month I want to feature a bike we have been working on starting late winter into the spring. This is a 2018 115th Anniversary Street Glide Special and my favorite Anniversary paint that Harley has offered. Since the day it came out I’ve been waiting on a client that would let me run with ideas back and forth and really make this bike stand out even more. Well that happened late February when he came in and had one bike in mind, this one. Lucky for us we got one and the brain storming began. We went back and forth on ideas and new ones popped up and it ended up being an amazing finished machined. I want to touch on some of the many upgrades to this one of a kind Harley-Davidson. One of the first things that pops on this bike is the 23” front and 18” rear Inflictor wheels that set the tone for this stealth but eye catching Street Glide. To finish off the front end we went with the Arlen Ness Hot Legs. He wanted to be able to see while cruising the back roads so we installed the all new Daymaker Adaptive LED headlight. This headlight allows you to see in those banked corners where a tradition LED doesn’t shine. While he is cruising down the road he will be able to rock out to his favorite tunes with the Boom! Audio Stage II speakers and amp.

Now for some style and comfort for those long rides. You will see the LA Chopper Twin Peak handlebars. These bars give you that natural wrist position. For the saddle he wanted a low profile but comfortable ride. With that in mind we went with the Revere Journey Gravity seat made by Mustang. Later on in the build my client decided he wanted a electric center stand. It took some searching but I was able to get the right one without having to go with a 2 into 1 exhaust. With some rear air ride this bike is able to drop down and give it a great stance while parked.

Page 32

www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

nniversary” Moving on to the heart of the motorcycle. My client wanted something bigger then what HarleyDavidson offers. With that in mind I knew the perfect combination to get him what he wanted. We went with the S & S 124” Power Kit. I will say this bike wants to go with 131 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheel. With all that power we didn’t want to chance it with a Screamin’ Eagle clutch so we went with Barnett’s Scorpion Billet Clutch. This clutch allows you to twist the throttle and launch your bike without the worry of it slipping. To dress up the engine and really make it sparkle in the sunlight we sent the cylinders and heads out to get Diamond Cut. The list goes on and on with all the upgrades. It has been one of my favorite builds to do so far in the past 12 years in the business. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to make another clients dream bike come to life. It took some time and fine tuning but at the end of the build I had another very happy client that will get heads turning and smiles for many miles ahead. This month is a busy month at the shop. Bike night is June 6th and we will welcome back the “Wall of Death”. If you can’t make it out for bike night come out June 7th & 8th as the “Wall of Death” will still be doing shows. On June 15th we will have the Drag Specialties truck out to show off all the new product. We will have some of the top industry reps on site to talk about all the latest and greatest aftermarket product available for your Harley-Davidson. June 22nd is the annual KSHE Bike Show. Bring your build and show it off to hundreds and take the chance of bragging rights and bringing home and winner. THE BOSS They say, a picture is worth a thousand words; but not in this case. Just at first look, you are not getting the full story of this beast that Bill Bagby built from the ground up. He always told me, if you take every part and make it as nice as you possibly, can you will have a real winner. A winner is exactly what this car is. I remember at my first car show, I happened to be a Judge and I told the promoters “I know this “Boss” and it wouldn’t be fair for me to judge it.” At the end of the day and all of the points were in, Bill won BEST of everything, which is not an easy task. All of the Judges were determined to let Bill have them all so I suggested they give the Best Interior to someone else, at least that way no one would say it was rigged. But if you are the BOSS you are the best. This Mustang, a “BOSS” clone started life with more believable “Boss 428” emblems on the side which caused a lot of hurt feelings. Many would go to Bill and say, “you RUINED this car!!!” “How could you cut up such a rare car?” Bill would reply, “Look again, there is No Such thing as a “Boss 428”. Then the same people would be blown away to see how Perfect this car really was and it is very rare that I say “perfect”. Ok, it really wasn’t perfect but only Bill and I knew where the flaws were and we aren’t telling anyone. Besides the “Boss 428” emblems, Bill made up another really cool one-off eye catcher, the sail panel Pony badges. He took them Page 40

apart and made them light up. Some cars are built to be mannered and graceful, spending their lives collecting show trophies and others are forged from sheer brutality. This 1969 Mustang Boss also falls into the second category. With one twist of the key, the NOW 604ci V8 snarls to life and decimates any possible misconceptions about this being some show-only cruiser. What started as a true S-code 390-powered Mach 1, is now a street-legal thunderstorm ready to rain on every would-be competitor within driving distance. Engineered to every degree and topped with genuine Pro Stock pieces, this 740hp Mustang delivers Boss good looks and serious power with just enough manners to freely roam public roads. As I said before this Mustang is perfect top to bottom, Bill removed all of the rear suspension and cut out all of the sheet metal as per PIE, no idea of his real name but he built a Pro-Street back half and tied it all together. Maybe we should call it a Pro-Mod chassis because it was the best of the best. The underneath paint was as good as the top. Sadly the time came for the “Boss” to find a new home, Bill took a lot of photos and a really nice video to help sell the car. In my opinion, he priced it WAY too low, so many people called and kept asking what was wrong with it? The price is too low and it can’t be right. But finally, a wise Sheriff called and talked with Bill and told him he was getting prices to do a Back Half on a later model Mustang to race and it would be cheaper to just buy the “Boss” and take it racing. The Sheriff came to town with his trailer, looked at the car and quickly handed over the cash. After the car was loaded, Bill asked him when he was going to start racing the car? The sheriff reply, “are you insane, this car is way too nice to race!” After a few years went by the Sheriff decided that he still wanted to race so he sold the car and down the line of owners someone updated some things and put in the motor you see here. The one thing you don’t see any changes on is the car that Bill built, you don’t mess with Perfection. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com
