From Nuts and Bolts to Ink and a Gun Mike Czerniewski and Leon Rogers have been successful fulfilling their dreams being the new owners of Jammer Joint Motorcycle Repair. They’ve accomplished so much, from complete customs build to a simple oil change. Once they got their feet on the ground and shooting for the stars, they wanted more. What better things to pair up with cool custom bikes, none other than TATTOO’S? Mike and Leon made the decision to build on to their existing repair shop to add a cool custom tattoo parlor. After the agreement was struck the plans were set in motion. First was to find that ever so important element of a tattoo parlor….The Artist! Lucky for them, Leon has a very good friend whose son was a tattoo artist; a gentleman by the name of Mike Rose. Having years of experience under him, he owned a tattoo shop in Kansas and worked there for many years. After a long while, he decided to close up and move back to Missouri. Leon heard about this and started researching his work. He contacted Mike and asked him if he could tattoo the Jammer Joint logo on his back. He agreed and his work commenced. Leon was so please on how well it turned out, he offered Mike the job of being their tattoo artist. Wanted to get back to what he loves, Mike happily accepted the offer. Now that the artist was found all they had to do was construct the parlor. Fortunately, this did not take very long and JAMMER JOINT TATTOO is up and operational. A woman and a man are involved in a car accident. Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt. Ashley Custom Chopper Built by Jammer Joint
Tedly Rateliff was a man with a vision; he had a dream to have a custom chopper built from the frame up. Knowing he was battling cancer, he didn’t give up the dream or the fight. He approached Mike Czerniewski, the owner of Jammer Joint, entrusting him with his vision. Unfortunately, Tedly passed away before he could see his dream completely. His best friend, Terry Keene, knew that Tedly would have wanted this chopper to be finished. So he purchased the bike from Tedly’s wife and had the guys at Jammer Joint finish the chopper exactly how Tedly would have wanted it. Mike says it best...........
Every once in a while you meet someone that makes a hug impact in your life. We consider all of our customers “FRIENDS”, BUT Tedly became more to us. When he approached us about building his chopper, and then telling us “I trust you guys; I’ll leave it up to you. You decide what we need and how we need to do it.”, it shows us we were more like family. Not many bikers will turn someone else loose on their dream! We find it humbling to hear that when you came out of surgery, you asked many times how the bike looked. I’m glad we got your ideas together to build your dream. We are deeply saddened to hear that we didn’t make your dream a reality before your fight came to an end. Please know that we LOVE YOU and are gonna make your proud when this bike is complete. You told us you wanted something special, and believe me, Leon and myself will do everything we can to see your dream come true!!! I have never met someone that was so upbeat and strong when facing adversity. You will truly be missed!!! The Screamin’ Sporty How’s it going full throttle readers, Zach
white here from St. Charles Harley-Davidson to give you the latest and greatest info from St Charles Harley-Davidson Hope you enjoy this and looking forward to many more to come each month! This month I want to feature a build that I was lucky to be a part of. I got to see what Harley-Davidson and Screamin’ Eagle had to offer on what me and so many others start off on, the Sportster! I loved and miss my sportster and to know what can be done on these fun and light weight machines might help you to stop and think about being your first, second or only machine I want in my garage! A new customer of mine came in and wanted to buy his first Harley-Davidson, an Iron but wanted to make sure it wasn’t some stock 883 sportster! I smiled from ear to ear knowing at the 2016 Harley-Davidson dealer show they had recently released an amazing stage IV kit! This kit has so much power it will leave you hanging on to the grips as tight as possible with a huge smile of excitement knowing you are the one in control! After putting everything together and insuring him nothing but smiles we started into the motor! The magic began as Kyle Brooks, one of our lead technicians started the big surgery on this soon to be beast! He disassembled the top end and cam box and began getting everything ready to build a strong motor! He started off with putting in the new Screamin’ Eagle Pro XL Performance II cams. Once that was ready he started assembling the Screamin’ Eagle 1200cc Forged Hi-Compression 10.5:1 pistons. After the rings were set and everything looked good he slid the 1200cc Black Non-Highlighted Cylinders over the pistons! Then comes the buttoning up of the CNC-Ported Factory Cylinder Heads with Performance Valve Springs and making sure all the specs are correct! Assemble the rocker box covers and ready for the final touches. The motor is complete and time to put the Screamin’ Eagle 58mm Throttle Body and intake manifold on, this is the first year for this and the sportster performance family and the icing on the cake. Keep in mind this is the same size throttle body that the big twins have been using in the past! Now the the motor is complete and the fuel tank is on we installed Vance & Hines Big Radius Exhaust and the Screamin’ Eagle Written By Zach White

Heavy Breather Air cleaner and Super Tuner to get more air and fuel in! After everything is complete the bike is ready to fire up and take for its first shake down test ride. Everything came back good and it was now ready to be fine tuned on our new and amazing new DYNO. The DynaJet 250IX with WINPEP 8 software. Dave Dodson is one of our talented techs who decided to step up and take on the Dyno tech position and put this machine to work and he produced some amazing results just as we had predicted! After fine tuning this stage IV Screamin’ Eagle Sportster for 5 hours and seeing the amazing numbers of 92.39 HP and 80.65 TQ it was a great day in the shop! I’d like to give a big thanks to the techs and our client here at St. Charles Harley-Davidson for making this machine come to life. Looking forward to next month and the newest creation. Welcome back Full Throttle readers and riders! Fall is here and in full
swing and it just so happens to be one of my favorite times of year to ride!! The weather is cool and brisk! The sunsets happen earlier, yet get prettier. The trees along the rolling hills are changing to their brilliant colors and my fiancees favorite thing of all..pumpkin spiced everything. Mainly the beer but yep its that time of year again. Halloween, hay rides, bon fires, hunting and fall rides! As we wind down the riding season some of our time in the saddle goes from plentiful to non-existent. Some good habits can be forgotten and old bad habits can resurface. As there are less and less bikes on the road the “cagers” aka cars, see us less and become more lax in their situational awareness. So as always be aware of the cars and traffic around you as they my not be aware of you, no matter how loud your bike is. Run down your check list and make sure the bike is fully functional before your fall ride. Some of us put a ton of miles on during the season and don’t realize how much wear and tear we really do. Even those who just go out once in a while should do the same. A bike that sits tends to sometimes have more issues than ones that don’t. Low tire pressure, low fluid levels, dead batteries, etc. And as always be sure to check the blinker fluid too, it may just save your life. Yes, that was a joke but it got your attention! Check those bulbs all round. We work hard at maintaining our motorcycles, we also need to perform maintenance on our riding habits. These are all things we have talked about and it can get old to go over and over but that’s how good habits are formed. So lets talk about the things we don’t think about. This time of year seems to produce some higher than normal wreck reports involving two wheels. This is contributed to many factors. All summer we have nice days and clean roads. In the fall we have leaves on the road, morning dew, heavy rain fall that brings road scat and gravel into the Page 34 www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

As the leaves start to fall and collect in the most inopportune places and the cool dewy air sets in it really can be a peacefully disaster. Wet slick leaves can cause both front and rear end to wash out as can gravel. The best thing to remember here is a few pointers I took from one of our MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) instructors here at Big St Charles Motorsports with our Beginners Riding Safety Class, Mr. Charlie Brown. I started by asking him what his best advice is on deer strike situations. His answer was; well not what I was expecting. He said “well don’t hit the deer...” I gave him a blank stare and he replied “if you are using the SEE method you shouldn’t have an issue.” What is the SEE method? 1:Search = search means to scan aggressively for potential factors and hazards. 2: Evaluate = to evaluate means to anticipate problems. 3: Execute = three action steps make up the execute phase A: adjust speed B: adjust position C: communicate your intentions. What all this really boils down to is watch what is going on ahead of you as well as around you. Be sure not to fall victim to the “fixation” factor. As an issue comes up we have tendency to “track” said issue. Always remember that where the head and eyes go the bike and body follow. So if you focus on an impending issue your chances of hitting it are damn near 100% so always follow through your turns passed any issues. Now deer can be another issue, they have minds of there own, never seem to do what you think they are gonna do and also don’t come with hi beams, reflectors, horns or blinkers. So what to do? Me myself I tend to stay outta the wooded areas around dusk and around this time of year. The bottom line is its a wild animal there is no predicting what it is going to do so the best bet is to be aware yourself. Scan for eye shine in the turns and straights, most times they will freeze but be mindful they could dart at any time. Just be mindful of whats going on. As riders its a leisure trip for us to hop on the bike but as we relax we must also stay alert. On November 5th, 2015 the legendary Kustom Car builder George Barris left the world his legacy at the age of 89 years old.
George Salapatas was born on Nov. 20, 1925, in Chicago to Greek immigrant parents. His mother died when he was 3, and his father sent him and his brother Sam to be raised by relatives in Roseville, CA, a suburb of Sacramento. The Barris name was fashioned from Salapatas and another family name, Badacardes. The brothers were car crazy. In their early teens, they customized a 1925 Buick sedan that their father had given them; applying orange and blue stripes, and fitting it with hubcaps and metal trim fashioned from Woolworth pots and pans. While in high school, George worked part time at local body shops with the opportunity to work under Harry Westergard, a legendary car customizer, and completing his first full custom job on his own 1936 Ford roadster. In 1942 after moving to Los Angeles, he found work with Jones’s Body, Fender and Paint Shop, where he became foreman. When his brother returned after the war in 1944, they moved to the suburb of Bell in Los Angeles and opened their own shop known to all as BARRIS KUSTOM. George also formed “Kustoms of Los Angeles,” which was initially restricted to Barris customers and later became “Kustoms of America.” The group grew out of weekend custom runs which George helped put together. Kustoms of America is still a major club today that has a major cruise in Paso Robles. The shop became known in the industry of accentuating mass production cars beyond their design limits. This fact came to major recognition in 1948 with the first of a series of prize winning customized autos, a 1941 Buick, earning the top prize at the first Hot Rod Exposition at the Los Angeles Armory. The next milestone in the brothers’ career was with one car in particular sealing their fate; the 1951 Hirohata Merc. This car is named after its owner, Bob Hirohata. Bob brought his car to them with the intent to build a full one of a kind custom ride. One of the first ideas was to lower the roof with a 4” chop in the front and 7” on the rear, and then drop the chassis to within a few inches of the ground. Next they removed the chrome trim and beltline was reshaped by extending the front and rear fenders to flow with ’52 Buick side trim. Custom rear fender skirts were made and the wheel openings were flared out all around. They contoured into the fenders frenched headlights and taillights from a ‘52 Lincoln, a fashioned new grille from three ‘51 Fords, and topped it off painting it sea-foam green with dark green panels and a finishing touch of a pinstriped dashboard by Von Dutch. The drivetrain was replaced by Lyon Engineering, using a Cadillac motor, with a clutch from a Ford and a

flywheel from an Oldsmobile. The Hirohata Merc landed the General Motors 1952 Motorama show in Los Angeles where its popularity over shadowed the best work of top designers and became a superstar after it appeared on the cover of Motor Trend Magazine. Rod and Custom also documented Mr. Hirohata’s journey as he drove the car on Route 66 to the Indianapolis Custom Show, where it took first prize. . The Mercury established a basis for Kustom car design. BATMOBILE The most famous recognizable of Barris’s creations is the BATMOBILE. The1955 Lincoln Futura concept car was first in the 1959 movie It Started with a Kiss that he customized for the 1960’s TV series “Batman”. Ford Motor Company sold it to Barris for a mere $1.00 on December 21, 1965. He built it to have a Ford 390 V8 and a B&M Hydro 3-speed automatic tranny. The exterior paint “Velvet Bat-Fuzz Black” from Metalflake, Inc. and interior paint 3/4” Fluorescent Cerise. Tires are 15” Firestone Wide-Oval, Mickey Thompson and US Royal Laredo with15x7 single rib Rader cast-alloy five spoke. Aluminum bats were screwed to the Rader rims’ hubs. And the 2 Deist parachute packs with 10 ft in diameter parachutes really did work! Significant characteristics for a believable crime fighting tools are the rocket launcher, escape tools, a Detect-a-scope, laser gun controls, sound and weapon systems, Bat-Ray Projector and an automatic tire inflating system. The car sold at Barrett-Jackson auto auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 2013, for $4.62 million. MUNSTER MODEL T KOACH The Koach custom designed hearse body was made from 3 Model T fiberglass bodies at 18ft long, 7ft high, and 133” handmade frame, with the driver’s seat up front for Herman and Lily, a center laboratory for Grandpa, and a rear overhanging couch for Eddie and Marilyn. It is finely detailed by hand formed brass fenders, brass tombstone-shaped radiator, antique spiderweb-laced carriage headlamps, landau bars, coffin handles, parlor curtains, and the family crest on the doors for a creepier look. Then add Anson Astro wheels with Mickey Thompson rear slicks, 4 spd manual tranny and power rear end, drop axel front end, spit radius rods and T spring. Blood red velvet interior and Gloss Black Pearl paint to further create a dark gothic touch.

It has a wild intake system on a 289ci Cobra with 300hp. Jabns high compression pistons, 10 chrome plated Stromberg carb, and Iskey cam, Bobby Barr racing headers. The 10 carbs and intake were fake and sat over the single carb, but had linkage and fuel lines hooked up to look functional. The façade was to make it look solid during filming. You may read elsewhere that it was bored to a 427ci, but not likely. If you think about it, there’s no way a 4” or more stroke would even fit into a 289 crank case. Not to mention the rod length, piston pin height, and just the angularity itself. Ford did separately produce a 427 top oiler and a 427 side oiler. But they are a completely different block. DRAG-U-LA DRAGSTER One of my favorite Musters episodes is “Hot Rod Herman”. Believing that his father is the greatest driver in the world, Eddie volunteers Herman and his car, the Munster Koach, for a drag race. Herman lost and pissed Lily off to no end. So Grandpa built the coffin incorporated Drag-u-la to win the family car back. The front of the vehicle sports a marble gravestone, and mounted antique lamps on the front and rear. The radiator is hidden with the coffin, and Grandpa sits in the rear behind the engine under a plastic bubble. Rear tires are 10.50 in Firestone racing slicks, mounted on custom 10 in Rader aluminum and steel wheels. Hubcaps decorated with a large silver spider. The front has 4in Italian tires on Speedsport English buggy wire wheels. The dragster features a 4 spd stick shift. It has two four-barrel carburetors mounted on a Mickey Thompson Ram-Thrust manifold, and four organ pipes on each side that look like Zoomie style headers. The block was painted to match the purple coffin liner seat and the 289ci engine had been worked over with dual quad manifold and high-compression pistons so it produced about 300hp. For whatever reason some people claim the dragster was built in 1966, but that’s not possible because the episode first aired May 27, 1965. The fiberglass car was actually built in 1964. Some may also tell you that it had a 302 Windsor in it, but that’s not possible either. Not to sound all kinda like Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny again, but…. Ford didn’t offer a 302 displacement until 1968 when the 289 small block was stroked to 3.0 in. (Not to be confused with the 302 Boss that came out in 1969.)
