Changes Present Challenges and Opportunities

By Theresa Harvey, President and CEO

As we begin the New Year, change is certain for businesses large and small. Immediately apparent are the changes in the tax code and revisions to employment law. But other changes may be more subtle.

In this issue, we review some of the laws passed by the California State Legislature during 2017, and highlight how these updates will affect your business. In addition, as this publication goes to print the long awaited tax reform act is in final review. These changes will likely impact businesses across the country.

Whether you support or oppose the changes, the North Orange County Chamber (NOCC) encourages you to use your voice and let your opinions be known to decision makers throughout the region. To aid you in your efforts, the Chamber is gathering interested individuals for a trip to Sacramento to learn about the legislative process and meet with those entrusted to make decisions on your behalf. Be a part of this adventure by joining us in May.

Finally, keeping up with trends affecting the region can be challenging. NOCC is hosting programs this spring designed to inform and inspire. State of North Orange County and the S.H.E. – Women of Influence Conference, both taking place this spring, provide platforms for you to learn more about your community, society and the world.

We look forward to continuing to engage with you through our programs and to having you join us as we advocate for a business friendly environment in our communities.
