EDITOR’s NOTE If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve started thinking about the upcoming season. After a few months away from racing, it’s time to dust off the gear, knock the cobwebs off your riding skills, and remember that being in “race shape” and thinking you’re in race shape are two completely different things. Like a lot of you, I’ve been trying to get back into it. I recently picked up a “new-to-me” bike and have managed to get out for a few rides. So far, the bike has been great. The rider... well, he’s still a work in progress. Between figuring out a different machine and trying to survive the Florida heat, every ride has felt like a fitness test. Whoever says riding isn’t exercise has obviously never ridden in Florida in July. That pretty much sums up the theme of this issue, “The Grind”. It isn’t always glamorous. It’s sweating through your gear before you even unload the bike, trying to remember where you put that one tool you need, and convincing yourself that “just one more lap” is a good idea. It’s the work that happens long before the first gate drops or the green flag waves. Those hot summer motos, evenings in the garage, and workouts that nobody sees are what make the racing season so rewarding.
experience of taking his son to the KTM Junior Supercross in Denver and what it was like to be part of such an incredible event. MotoPT tackles the topic of peptides and discusses how they may become more accessible in the future. FTR President David Hall also reflects on his summer break, including a visit to the Fuel Ministries camp and the impact it continues to have on young riders and their families. Even though we’re in the off-season, the FTR community never really slows down. Someone is rebuilding a bike, someone is chasing that one part that’s been backordered for months, and someone is already convinced this is finally going to be their year. That’s one of the things I love about FTR. The racing may take a break, but the passion never does. Thanks for picking up another issue of the FTR Magazine. I hope you enjoy it, find a little motivation to keep grinding through the summer, and maybe even get a few laughs along the way. Drink plenty of water, keep the shiny side up, and I’ll see you at the races. Hopefully when the weather is a little less interested in cooking us alive. See you at the races, Kurt Lucas Editor, FTR Magazine

Through the Trees Here we are, rolling into the dog days of summer with about three months to go before we all line up at the starting line again. Even though we're all enjoying our summer activities, I'm sure many of us still get the urge to break out the scooter and take a quick rip through the woods, or maybe just down to the mailbox and back, just to make sure we still know how to ride. Well, let me tell you what a scoop tire does to a freshly mowed 1/8-mile driveway when you're "just checking to see if the 350 still runs." Yeah...I know better. But since I do all the maintenance around here, I'm counting that as a wash! Speaking of getting to do some fun things, my compadre and I had the opportunity to spend a day helping out at the Fuel Ministries Summer Camp. What an incredible experience it was. It was great to see so many FTR families together, enjoying the activities, building friendships, and appreciating the many blessings we have. Along with Mark, Rodney, and Dani from Fuel Minis-
tries, many of our FTR officials volunteered their time to mentor our youth and set positive examples of how to handle everyday challenges. And did I mention the kids got to ride their dirt bikes? Absolutely! Each morning included trail riding on more than a dozen different loops, giving everyone plenty of seat time. We were fortunate to get rain the night before, making the trail conditions absolutely epic. But honestly, it wouldn't have mattered. The smiles on everyone's faces made it clear they were having a great time regardless of the conditions. Great job, Fuel Ministries! As I've mentioned before, there's a lot happening behind the scenes at FTR, even during the summer break. Many of you have probably heard the rumors about returning to the Ona property. I'm happy to say the venue has been secured, and we'll be back there this October. There are other exciting opportunities on the horizon as well. Recently, I spent an afternoon meeting with a very positive landowner in DeSoto County. That meeting came about thanks to one of those "someone knows some-
one" connections. A contact was shared with an FTR member, who then passed it along. That's exactly how new opportunities begin. We also have another promising lead that we'll be pursuing in the near future. Every one of these opportunities is the direct result of FTR members and leadership being proactive, building relationships, pursuing new venues, and reaching out to landowners who are willing to have a conversation with us. Maintaining FTR's outstanding reputation has never been more important. Landowners don't just talk over breakfast anymore. Today, conversations, and impressions, travel with the click of a button. Every member plays a role in protecting our image. Whether it's how we conduct ourselves on race weekends or what appears in videos and social media posts, our actions matter. The way we represent FTR today can have a direct impact on our ability to secure new venues tomorrow. Thanks for listening. Randy Faul

KTM Junior Supercross…..More Than Just a Race
same dream again, this time with our youngest son, Carter.
There are certain memories in racing that never fade. For me, one of those was standing outside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis years ago with our older son, Austin, as snowflakes drifted through the air. It was his opportunity to compete in the KTM Junior Supercross, an experience that every young dirt bike rider dreams about.
We had applied last year, but he wasn't selected. Like many opportunities in life, all you can do is put your best foot forward and hope for the call. We spent extra time putting together his application video this year, and as the Supercross season rolled along, I started wondering if we'd missed our chance. Then, in the middle of March, the email finally came. Carter had been selected for the Denver round.
It was so cold that the clutches on the little 50cc race bikes wouldn't freewheel. To keep the event organized, the dads were responsible for pushing the riders and their motorcycles in and out of the stadium. The only problem was that the rear wheels wouldn't turn. So instead of pushing them, we found ourselves carrying the back of the bikes while the kids scooted all the way forward on the seats. Looking back, it sounds almost comical, but somehow those unexpected moments are often the ones that become lifelong memories. Years later, we found ourselves chasing that
Suddenly, we were scrambling to book flights, reserve a hotel, and make plans for another family adventure. From the moment we arrived in Denver, it became obvious that KTM wasn't simply putting on a race. They were creating an experience. Saturday morning, we arrived early and were greeted by Jennifer and the entire KTM staff, who immediately made every rider and family feel welcome. The kids were outfitted like factory racers with brand new Fly Racing gear, Leatt protective equipment, and prod
ucts from sponsors like Nihilo Concepts, Seat Concepts, ASV, and many others who helped make the day unforgettable. Every detail, down to the minute, had been carefully planned. What impressed me most wasn't the motorcycles or the stadium. It was the people. The KTM staff treated every child like they belonged there. It didn't matter where they came from, how fast they were, or how many races they'd won. For one incredible
day, every one of those kids was the star of the show. Watching Carter walk through the professional pits, meet factory riders, high five, and sign autographs for other kids, and eventually line up under the lights in front of thousands of Supercross fans was something I'll never forget. As parents, we spend so much time focusing on lap times, championships, and results that we sometimes lose sight of what really matters.
floridatrailriders.com The memories. Watching the kids interact with one another in Denver reminded me of something we experience every weekend in FTR. It didn't take long before children from opposite sides of the country were laughing together like they'd been racing together for years. Different hometowns. Different backgrounds. Different skill levels. It didn't matter. Motorcycles have a unique way of creating friendships that ignore all those differences. I realize that, while very few kids will ever have the opportunity to race inside a Supercross stadium, every FTR weekend offers something just as valuable. Every hare scramble is another chance for a child to build confidence. Another opportunity to learn sportsmanship. Another weekend spent in a pasture with family and friends. Another memory that will still bring a smile to their face years from now. Whether the starting line is tucked away in a grassy Florida field or stretched across the floor of a professional sports stadium, the reason we keep coming back is the same. The motorcycles are simply what bring us together. Austin still talks about me carrying that frozen motorcycle through the snow in Indianapolis. I have no doubt Carter will remember hearing the roar of the crowd in Denver as he rolled onto
the track. Neither one of those memories has anything to do with where they finished. As parents, that's an important reminder. Years from now, our kids probably won't remember every trophy they won or every championship point they earned. They'll remember the road trips, the friendships, the laughter in the pits, the people who believed in them, and the experiences that made them feel like they belonged. That's what makes this sport so special. Whether it's a local FTR hare scramble or the KTM Junior Supercross, we're all chasing the same thing. Different pasture. Same friends.
