GENERAL INFORMATION

C O M M U N I T Y S E R V I C E S D E PA R T M E N T S DIRECTORY

All of the City of Fort Morgan’s youth sport leagues are ran by volunteer coaches. This keeps the cost affordable for families so children can play and have fun. Even if you have no coaching experience, please apply! We have the necessary tools to help you provide a great experience for your team. We often do not have enough coaches which delays game schedules and affects the experience for the kids. As a coach, we ask you to focus on three teachings: teach them how to play the game, teach them excellent sportsmanship, and teach them to have fun! Applicants are subject to a background check and a simple concussion training course before coaching. As a perk, each successful season completed as a volunteer coach results in a $35 credit to your account which can be used for future recreation programs. If interested, please let the receptionist know when you are registering your child for a sport or contact us at (970) 542-3921.

FORT MORGAN YOUTH SPORTS POLICIES & RECREATION & INFORMATION

2021—Quarter 2

YOUT H SPORTS POLICIES UNIFORMS/T-SHIRTS

INCLEMENT WEATHER

If a program fee includes a uniform for any specific program, sizes will be placed on size given. If the size given and ordered is not satisfactory, and the order was at no fault to the City of Fort Morgan Recreation Department, the individual will be responsible for paying for a different size.

If fields present an unsafe environment, we will postpone or cancel practices or games. Staff is instructed to error on the side of caution when determining inclement weather. Call the Recreation Hotline for news on weather cancellation at (970) 542-3928.

ONE REQUEST The Recreation Department strives to create fun and challenging opportunities for our youth. To maintain a fair playing field, we only permit one pairing request per individual. If both participants request each other to be on the same team, we will do our best to honor that request. We recommend this request system is used for individuals who may have limited transportation to practices and/or games. This request cannot be for a specific coach! Coaches will be able to coach their child(ren), but not request several friends. This is to avoid unbalanced or “stacked” teams. Please note that requests are not guarantees. We will do our best to honor such requests.

PLAYING UP If the parent would like to consider their child playing up ONE age/grade level, please contact Kolby Wahlert at kolby.wahlert@cityoffortmorgan.com. Please allow one week to process and respond. Players are not allowed to play down an age/ grade level. Special circumstances will be considered. Please contact Kolby Wahlert at kolby.wahlert@cityoffortmorgan.com. Please allow one week to process and respond.

WAITING LIST Waiting lists are a source of contact and do not guarantee you will receive a call back. We will contact you if a space becomes available.

COMBINING AGE DIVSIONS SPORTSMANSHIP We strive to create memorable and positive experiences for our participants through our sports programs. We remind parents, coaches, players, and spectators that their actions, both positive and negative, have an impact on kids during these activities. Please be mindful to focus on the positive. Also acknowledge that our staff is prone to make the occasional mistake, as we all are. We are here for the kids! Let’s make sure they have fun playing these wonderful sports! 10

We reserve the right to combine age divisions for any programming dependent on the number of registrations.

AGE/GRADE DETERMINATIONS The age/grade at the start of the season determines the age/grade bracket for the program. Baseball will use what grade your child will be in the Fall.

REFUNDS Please see our refund policy on page 8.
