Step #1- Layering Fins & Tubes In the first step, we stack the layers of fins and tubes, one on top of the other one, alternatively. The number of layers that have to be added depends on the radiator dimensions. While an automotive radiator needs around 50 sets of tubes and fins, an industrial radiator needs more.

Step #2- Attach the Headers The headers secure the fins and tubes at their place and also provide to be amounting pint for the radiator tanks. A rubber mallet and metal blocks are used for tapping the headers in their place and the tubes are extended into the headers. To make sure that the coolant flows through the tube without any problem, a roller is used for opening the ends of the tube.

Step #3- Soldering the Core This is the final step in the core construction and depends on the material of the radiator. A copperbrass core is soldered by a layer (an alloy of tin or lead) that is placed at the end of the each tube for sealing the joints.

On the other hand, an aluminum core is brazed together by aluminum itself, thus creating a 100% aluminum core. Unlike soldering, brazing is done at a higher temperature and uses an aluminum alloy.
