“Sirènes” is a recital in the form of a chant, a fierce ode to unbridled femininity, to all those female characters feared, adored or hated in our tales, literature and mythologies. Fierce, amorous, jealous and bored women populate this ocean of sounds. We meet Marguerite, who makes a pact with Satan for love, Ulysses’ Sirens, Carmen the femme fatale, Rusalka the nymph who sympathizes with a witch, and Walt Disney and Honneger’s Little Mermaid, well known to today’s children. So many women’s voices singing from different paths, genres, styles and centuries, tragic journeys and terrible battles, reflections of ancestral societies yet still echoing so deeply, and to which the two musicians lend the voices of their instruments, for the time of a whirlwind recital. All that’s left for the listener to do is to dive in and join them!
