Global Sport Management

This program consists of 12 credit hours of online course work. Four courses will provide students with advanced knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for coaching at a high level. The education gained and skills learned will provide the best preparation for coaching today’s athletes. Any of these classes can be taken separately without applying for the coaching certificate. These classes will cover the research and theory behind the various topics covered (classes are 3 credit hours): • Advanced Coaching (Fall) • Athlete Recruitment (Spring) • Motor Learning for Coaches (Summer) • Sport Psychology for Coaches (Summer)

Each summer a faculty member accompanies a group of students to Europe as part of the Global Sport Management program, offered through FSU International Programs. While most of the program is spent in London (students and faculty live at the FSU Study Center), participants also spend 3-4 days in Paris, France. While learning about the world of international sport participants have a chance to enjoy premiere sporting events such as Wimbledon, the British Open and the finish of the Tour de France in Paris. They also visit historic sport venues, along with many other attractions in the region. Among the sport venues visited are: • Roland Garros tennis stadium • Stade De France • Emirates Stadium (Arsenal soccer) • Stamford Bridge (Chelsea Soccer) • Lord’s Cricket Ground • Wembley Stadium

The Coaching Certificate can be earned in one year and courses are not required to be taken in sequence. Application into the Coaching Certificate program is allowed at any time.
