MODEL DIARIES

Her name is Ariana Rosado

and she’s from East Chicago, IN. She always thought it would be cool to be a dancer, however she had a bit of a different dance journey than most. She didn’t start taking dance seriously until she went to college. She played sports and acted in high school and wanted to be a broadcast journalist. But, once she got to college she double majored in mass communication and business marketing and tried out for the college dance team. It was then that her focus shifted to dance as she fell more and more in love with performing.

14/F-STYLE CHICAGO /

She started getting into personal training after she began competing in NPC competitions. She loves being able to work with clients and see them transform. She hopefully will continue to spread knowledge and help people build confidence and strength mentally and physically.

Her first big audition was for Beyonce on Oprah’s last airing of her show on ABC. She and her team didn’t have to have any specific dance routine prepared but during the competition there was a small freestyle section. It was after booking that gig that she knew she wanted to continue dance and audition for an NBA team. 15/F-STYLE CHICAGO

When she got the position on the NBA team they started having scheduled practices about 2 times a week. Yet, of course to be great at anything there must be constant practice. So, she does a lot of outside training to make sure she can perform at her absolute best. Her family was very excited for her when they found out that she was selected to be one of the dancers’ for an NBA team. They saw a lot of her training and preparation that went into her getting ready for the auditions. She worked hard and they were happy to see that all her hard work and determination paid off. Their continual support is always what keeps her going. No matter what new ventures she picks up, they are always by her side and are her biggest supporters.

“There isn’t much motivation needed to keep dancing for the NBA. It is an amazing experience so every year I am excited to see what the new season brings”

18/F-STYLE CHICAGO /

The most eventful game was when she was performing and mid performance the other dancers broke out into a separate routine. She didn’t know about it but it was done so that her boyfriend at the time could propose to her. They aren’t together anymore but the memory will always be something she holds near and dear to her heart as many people came together to make the experience special for me. There isn’t much motivation needed to keep dancing for the NBA. It is an amazing experience so every year I am excited to see what the new season brings. I’ve gotten the chance to perform with Artists throughout halftime performances, travel to places like Canada, China, and Taiwan, and go to NBA All- Star games. It’s been an incredible opportunity.

Hobbies and Fun Questions She doesn’t have much free time with 3 jobs and side gigs that she frequently picks up. But when she does get time she enjoys working out, trying new restaurants and traveling to new places. If she could be a superhero her superpower would be to travel through time. To go back and forth through time and see how history has changed and meet people she otherwise would never get a chance to learn from. Find her on Social Media @ She predominately uses Instagram (@Arirosado) and Facebook, but she also has twitter (rosado_Ari) and youtube (Ariana Rosado).

Anita Nicole Brown is from Chicago IL! She is making headlines and positively impacting her community! In growing up she wrote a lot of poetry. It wasn’t until she was in college that she entertained the idea of writing short stories. She hopes to one day get her short stories published. Anita brown

When it comes to her work and projects she has a diverse audience. She is mostly an actress with a background in marketing and fashion. But the other thing that others may or may not know is that, she is also a Type One Diabetic. So in as many films as she can she brings awareness to show

other T1Ds’ that they can do anything they wish. They are her main audience! Yet, in this industry, she finds that she runs across too many producers and even directors who wish to hide anything related with her being a Type One Diabetic so it’s a “hard line to walk sometimes” she adds. 29/F-STYLE CHICAGO

So far in her productive and influential time as an actress, she has completed about 30-40 short and feature films! As a producer The Gag Date will be her third! But hands down her favorite and most memorable film she completed is entitled: Crisis Function! That was a film in which the writer/director wrote the lead character (who she played) as a Type One Diabetic! Furthermore; it was an action film with lots of fight choreography and a few stunts! So, for her to be able to do that project with her insulin pump and her being a Type One Diabetic being used as part of the storyline made her so proud and she still is very proud of that film and the strength it helped to give the Type One Diabetic community!

30/F-STYLE CHICAGO /

She has a few upcoming projects that she is working on and ones that everyone should be on the lookout for such as: Crisis Function: Awakening which is scheduled to come out this year and she plays the female lead! The other the Wages of Sin: Special Tactics is also scheduled to be released this year as well and again she plays the female lead! Then follows is: Scar Lake is scheduled to finish with filming around late summer and she plays one of the supporting female characters! Then the 12 Angry Women which is also scheduled to finish with filming around late spring! And yes she does play one of the 12 angry women!! And, of course, The Gag Date is set to finish filming by the end of June 2018 (at the latest!) Then once she and her team wrap up they will have a better idea of when it will be released!

31/F-STYLE CHICAGO

A Goal to Achieve If she could work with any major director?!?!?!?! Well she would have to say Chad Stahelski because she’s an action film kind of girl and his work with Keanu on the John Wick movies makes her wish she could do just ONE action film with him! Other Creative Talents & Where to Contact Her She has a BA degree in fashion design but she is also a trained ballroom dancer and recently she’s been teaching ballroom dancing to 5th and 6th grade students across Chicago! So, how can her fans get in contact with her? As of now, the easiest way to get a hold of her is through The Gag Date via the Facebook page: https://www. facebook.com/TheGagDate/ Check out the link and show your love and support!

7 ways to

Producit Here are seven ways you can further your career, even if you don’t have an agent or manager championing your talent: 1. Create your own work wherever possible. Find like-minded artistic collaborators and put on a play; create a short film; do a web series. Many actors of whom I’m a passionate believer go this route, and I admire them for it. Actors, you will gain the attention of casting directors and other industry professionals if you put together well-crafted, intelligent work. It need not be costly or have tremendous production values. It just needs to be compelling. 2. Read Backstage and other publications geared toward actors and those in the entertainment business. There are many listed auditions for theatrical productions, student films, larger films, etc. An actor need not have representation in order to submit himself. Similarly, the Actors Access website is another valuable tool: Actors can read breakdowns and submit themselves. Be certain your headshot and résumé are as realistically appealing/accurate as possible. The SAG Foundation and the Actors Fund are also excellent resources for actors, as is Playbill.com. 3. Contact student filmmakers and student theater directors and let them know you are available and eager to work with excellent collaborators. There are highly accomplished student films being made—some of which go on to win Student Academy Awards. With my AMPAS colleagues, I participate in the judging of these films every year, and am floored by the high bar they set. 4. Attend EPAs if you’re trained to do theater and are passionate about it. I have auditioned, and subsequently hired, brilliant actors whom I’ve met at these auditions. One sees both represented and unrepresented actors in attendance. 5. Reach out to casting directors, directors, and producers whose work you admire. I can’t empha60/F-STYLE CHICAGO /

ACTING

ivity size enough how a thoughtful, personalized note to those whose work moves you will make an impression. You must be impeccable in your crafting of this kind of note, but if it is sincere, it will make an impact. You may not hear back from everyone, but you will hear back from some of the people you contact. This is a business of relationships. You don’t want to deluge people or hound them, of course, but if you are talented, and truly prepared and hardworking, asking for an audition or a meeting can yield rewards. If you are in a play or have other performance work to show, invite industry colleagues to see your work—especially when you are truly proud of it. 6. Beware of having a chip on your shoulder if you haven’t worked in a while. I often meet actors who, most likely out of fear and insecurity, radiate unhappiness and are eager to launch into a litany of complaints about former agents, why they can’t get an agent, or how they came this close to getting a role. Everyone, of course, can relate to feeling vulnerable and unwanted, but try to let go of bitterness and counterproductive attitudes which can sabotage your chances of getting work now. 7. Be generous about recommending talented friends and colleagues for work, even if there is no work for you. We are all here to extend a hand to each other. It is gratifying to speak generously about another person’s talent. And, chances are, you will be repaid in kind. New York actors are, I’ve found, particularly collegial, always willing to inform others of work opportunities and auditions. Actors, know that the enormous changes in the entertainment business over the past few years have affected each of us. No one can sit back and rely on others to get them work. We all have to create our own opportunities, our own luck. Strengthen your craft as much as you can, and then find ways to showcase your talent. Do monologues and scenes; create a brief reel for yourself. Brainstorm with other actors, writers, directors, and producers. Educate yourselves about material, venues, and opportunities. Become your own best representative. No one will take your career as seriously as you will, so use your intelligence and passion to show yourself off to your best advantage. 61/F-STYLE CHICAGO
