The FSP Hungry Boards/Head Boards are low-maintenance, light weight, heavy duty, weather resistant, ultra durable, corrosion resistant UV stable and are an easy fiting modular design which makes them uniquely FSP.
• Cost effective. • Two styles available - vertical and horizontal fitments. • Horizontal systems aid in the prevention rocks/material from falling over the front and side of the body. • Vertical systems allows rocks/material to deflect off the front of the system. • Aids in the prevention of damage of handrails, radiator cowlings and access ladders/stairs from being damaged. • Require minimal labour to fit and replace. ADVANTAGES
OF OUR POLY PRODUCT The most glaring advantages with the FSP Head Boards is that they significantly aid in the reduction of damage by material being transported. Whilst the FSP Hungry Boards reduce weight dramatically compared to the traditional steel Hungry Boards thefore increasing payload and aid in the reduction of damage from overburden, FSP Head Boards and FSP Hungry Boards maximise the potential of your haul truck. The fitment of these head boards aid in dramatically reducing the damage caused by rocks or overburden falling over the cab of the haul truck and destroying such items as ladders, suppression systems and tyres etc. The Head Boards are manufactured from Hi Vis Yellow polyethylene hybrid and is UV stable and very robust. In the unlikely event of damage, only the damaged sections require replacement. Each section is field replaceable. Replacement can be executed by one person. No Hot Work Permit is required. Down time is minimal, as vehicle does not need to be transported from site.

IN-FIELD TRIALS TRIALS
We have recently trialed these head boards in the field at a major coal mine in northern QLD, three sets were fitted to Komatsu 930 E haul trucks, we deliberately used three as one could be a false impression, two the same but with three different vehicles with different operators we were confident of getting the correct information as to their application and durability. Initially the three trucks involved were trialled with overburden, which was a huge success, however, to be completely sure the same three trucks were then moved on to Blue Rock for an additional three month period to ascertain that our trial was pertinent to all types of materials. The performance of the Head Boards was extremely successfull so much so that the site has orderd a further 4 more sets of FSP Head Boards.
THE RESULTS TRIAL RESULTS
The feedback from operators was only positive and feedback received was in the operators own words “a good thing, stops rock roll off”, “better visibility at night, stops rock roll off, needed on all trucks”, “makes it easier to put a load on without spillage onto floor”, “good improvement”, “makes it safer to load”... This particular site had been experiencing consistent major damage to ladders, mirrors, tyres and suppression systems due to material falling over the front of their load, during the trial period no damage was recorded. Summing up, there is a cost involved to the customer of initially fitting headboards, but by reducing the damage alone caused to vehicles and the downtime required to repair, the overall savings justify the initial expenditure. Taking on board the operator comments this product provides better visibility during hours of darkness, aids in the prevention of rock roll off, assists in ease of loading and makes loading safer. In today’s competitive market, and with both safety and cost savings a major factor, we believe that the fitting of headboards alone will benefit our customers. Additionally these units may be fitted as Hungry Boards thus reducing the weight of current Hungry Boards and giving more pay load per vehicle. A WORD FROM THE COMPANY MAN
The durability of the head boards have been surprisingly strong, out of the 3 month period to this date none have been reported damaged or broken. The 3 trucks (Komatsu 930e) that are fitted with the poly headboards carry overburden which can be a mixture of soil and rocks. None have had any accident damage to the trucks within the 3 month trial. Previous to the trial RD145 had $27000 accident damage to hand rails, walkways and stairs. The frequency of use is 24/7 all year round except for when the truck is down for maintenance.
