Welcome to Sara Park Welcome to our 21st Annual Sara Park Angus Sale. It is fantastic to see our clients experiencing success in the marketplace, and the beef industry doing so well. The EYCI has been at record levels this year and it is great to see our clients being rewarded for their hard work. We extend our appreciation to our clients and repeat buyers for their continued confidence in our cattle over many years. Our aim is to produce bulls that perform well in commercial herds, and it is a testament from our repeat buyers that progeny of our stud bulls deliver well in the commercial market, consistently topping weaner sales in their districts. Our 2022 draft presents new genetics, and we believe our new AI reference sires Millah Murrah Klooney K42, Farrer N9 and GAR Inertia are great herd improvers. We are extremely pleased with the power, depth and softness they are producing in our cattle. Reference Sires also include Sara Park Profit P29, Eaglehawk Double Vision M208 and Heart Ten Million M11. With our own commercial herd in operation, we are very mindful of producing sires with confirmation, depth, growth and doing ability that will improve your herd. This year, the bulls have been prepared on oats and are ready for work. With such a solid presentation we have no doubt there is a bull in the catalogue to suit you. Previously, Jeff & Kathryn have sold bulls under the Sara Park brand. This year will be their first year offering bulls from their new stud Duddy Angus. Bulls offered will be embryo brothers by the highly regarded Musgrave 316 Stunner. Jeff & Kathryn would like to acknowledge Herb for his many years of dedication in developing Sara Park Angus and thank him for his support as they’ve established their own stud over time. Sale Information WARRANTY The vendor warrants that: 1. Bulls are fertile and capable of natural service within 6 months of date of sale to the purchaser (“Warranty Period”); and 2. Bulls are of the parentage catalogued.
GST GST is to be added to the purchase price at the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer. You will be invoiced the purchase price plus GST. REBATE A 2% rebate will be offered to outside agents introducing buyers in writing 24 hours prior to the sale & settling within seven (7) days of invoicing.
With the return of the bull the vendor will either: 1. Provide a satisfactory replacement; or

2. Provide a credit for use at the next Sara Park Angus bull sale equal to the purchase price (excluding any costs and expenses of the purchaser in taking delivery) minus salvage value: Where: 1. The purchaser claims a bull is infertile, upon purchaser submitting a veterinary report after the expiration of the Warranty Period stating that the bull is infertile or incapable of natural service and a Statutory Declaration by the purchaser to the effect that the substance of the report is true and correct. The veterinarian must state that in his/her opinion there is no evidence that the bull has suffered any injury or illness during the Warranty Period which could have affected his breeding ability. The veterinary report and Statutory Declaration must be forwarded to the seller within 14 days of the Warranty Period expiring. 2. The purchaser claims the bull is not of the parentage catalogued, upon purchaser submitting a DNA test or blood test within the Warranty Period indicating that the animal is not of the stated parentage. The purchaser acknowledges that the purchaser does not rely and it is unreasonable for the purchaser to rely on the skill or judgement of the seller as to whether the bulls supplied are reasonably fit for any purpose for which they are being acquired. To the extent permitted by law all other conditions and warranties implied by law in respect of the state, quality and condition of the bulls which may apart from this clause be binding on the Seller are excluded. The seller has no liability (including liability in negligence) to any person for any loss or damage consequential or otherwise suffered or incurred by that person arising from the sale of the bulls to the purchaser.
FERTILITY All sale bulls have passed a thorough fertility examination carried out by Alan Post from the Glen Innes Veterinary Hospital. This examination includes semen viability, palpation of the reproductive organs and inspection of the penis and scrotum. Their scrotal circumference has also been measured by Alan Post. BULL PREPARATION The sale bulls have been prepared on oats and rye since mid May. Prior to that they had been on pasture grass. These bulls will present in excellent working condition. INSPECTION Bulls may be inspected prior to the Sale by contacting the vendor or selling agents. Cattle will be available for inspection from 10am on sale day. HANDLING At Sara Park, we handle our cattle quietly and confidently, we always give our cattle respect, and our cattle respect us. We use a 4-wheel motor bike and a ute, with controlled use of dogs. The bulls have not been handled with horses. REFRESHMENTS A light luncheon will be provided on sale day – gold coin donation to Wellingrove Progress Association. ADDITIONAL DATA Raw data including scan measurement, weights and other information will be supplied on sale day. INSURANCE There is no vendor insurance on sale bulls. It will be the responsibility of the buyer to insure their purchases. Representatives from insurance companies will be in attendance and can offer insurance terms on sale bulls.

Delivery of Your New Bull To help your new bull or bulls settle into their new home as well as possible, we recommend the following: All Sara Park bulls have been run in large mobs all their life, so they have had plenty of mates around, and have never been alone. It is a good idea to have some of your own cattle in the yard when your new bull or bulls arrive, a handful of steers or some PTIC cows or even an old bull, just something to keep them company, whilst they survey their new surroundings. At Sara Park, we handle our cattle quietly and confidently, we always give our cattle respect, and our cattle respect us. We use a 4-wheel motorbike and a ute, with controlled use of dogs. The bulls have not been handled with horses. Handle your new bull or bulls quietly and with respect and he will settle into his new home well and will be easy to handle when the need arises. The bulls are in good joining condition at point of sale, but it is imperative to ensure good nutrition for the bull during the joining period. You should check the bulls regularly to see they are working especially in the early stages of joining when the majority of problems occur and early intervention can minimise the damage to the bull and to conception rates. When joining is complete, bulls should be drenched and placed on good pasture to get back into first grade health without being allowed to get to over fat or too poor condition.
Sale Day Safety All the sale bulls have been screened for temperament and are quiet to handle under normal circumstances. However, there are inherent risks associated with cattle handling. Visitors Enter the cattle pens at their own risk. Children must not enter the yards. People entering the yards are at risk of injury. Be especially alert for bulls fighting and if one is playful with you, do not respond by patting his head. What a bull considers a playful nudge can break human legs! We do not expect the bulls to be aggressive with humans, but sale day places extraordinary pressure on them as they experience an entirely foreign environment. Remember the quietest bull is in fact an unpredictable animal. Do not crowd the bulls or loiter inside the pens. We cannot cover every example of the dangers of cattle handling, so please use common sense and be alert at all times. Don’t enter the pens unnecessarily. If you feel threatened whatsover, please do not act hardy. The stigma of a person screaming as he dives over a fence is a preferable option to a broken body resulting from “standing up to” an unfamiliar beast. Please call upon any of the agents for an escort through the bulls if required. The days of bravado with stock have passed under current OH&S legislation.

Each Auction can then be viewed by clicking “Live Auction” logo on the Elite Livestock Auctions website.
Click on the “Sign Up” page / link
Create a bidding profile using the bidder registration page. (You can either register as a livestock agent, company or private buyer)
Once you receive email notification that your account has been created please go to the sale you wish to bid at and click “Request to Bid”
Agree to the Elite Livestock Auctions Terms & Conditions and the Selling Agents Sale Terms & Conditions as printed in the official Sale Catalogue
The sale will then approve your application to bid and on the sale catalogue you will see "üBid Request Approved”
Click “Register”
On Sale day simply login, click “Enter Auction” on the catalogue page and you can start bidding. (There is no need for software download)

recessive genetic conditions This is information for bull buyers about the recessive genetic conditions, Arthrogryposis Multiplex (AM), Hydrocephalus (NH), Contractural Arachnodactyly (CA) and Developmental Duplications (DD).
Putting undesirable Genetic Recessive Conditions in perspective
If animals tested free of the undesirable gene are mated to carrier animals the condition will not be expressed at all. All calves will appear normal, but approximately half (50%) could be expected to be carriers.
All animals, including humans, carry single copies (alleles) of undesirable or “broken” genes. In single copy form, these undesirable alleles usually cause no harm to the individual. But when animals carry 2 copies of certain undesirable or “broken” alleles it often results in bad consequences. Advances in genomics have facilitated the development of accurate diagnostic tests to enable the identification and management of numerous undesirable or “broken” genes. Angus Australia is proactive in providing its members and their clients with relevant tools and information to assist them in the management of known undesirable genes and our members are leading the industry in their use of this technology.
How is the genetic status of animals reported? DNA-based diagnostic tests have been developed which can be used to determine whether an individual animal is either a carrier or free of the alleles resulting in AM, NH, CA or DD. Angus Australia uses advanced software to calculate the probability of (untested) animals to being carriers of AM, NH, CA or DD. The software uses the test results of any relatives in the calculations and the probabilities may change as new results for additional animals become available. The genetic status of animals is being reported using five categories:
What are AM, NH, CA and DD? AM, NH, CA and DD are all recessive conditions caused by “broken” alleles within the DNA of individual animals. When a calf inherits 2 copies of the AM or NH alleles their development is so adversely affected that they will be still-born. In other cases, such as CA and DD, calves carrying 2 copies of the broken allele may reach full-term. In such cases the animal may either appear relatively normal, or show physical symptoms that affect their health and/or performance.

This information is displayed on the animal details page and can be accessed by conducting an “Database Search” from the Angus Australia website or looking up individual animals listed in a sale catalogue.
How are the conditions inherited? Research in the U.S. and Australia indicates that AM, NH, CA and DD are simply inherited recessive conditions. This means that a single gene (or pair of alleles) controls the condition. For this mode of inheritance two copies of the undesirable allele need to be present before the condition is seen; in which case you may get an abnormal calf. A more common example of a trait with a simple recessive pattern of inheritance is black and red coat colour. Animals with only one copy of the undesirable allele (and one copy of the normal form of the allele) appear normal and are known as “carriers”.
Implications for Commercial Producers Your decision on the importance of the genetic condition status of replacement bulls should depend on the genetics of your cow herd (which bulls you previously used) and whether some female progeny will be retained or sold as breeders. Most Angus breeders are proactive and transparent in managing known genetic conditions, endeavouring to provide the best information available. The greatest risk to the commercial sector from undesirable genetic recessive conditions comes from unregistered bulls with unknown genetic background. The genetic condition testing that Angus Australia seedstock producers are investing in provides buyers of registered Angus bulls with unmatched quality assurance.
What happens when carriers are mated to other animals? Carriers, will on average, pass the undesirable allele to a random half (50 %) of their progeny. When a carrier bull and carrier cow is mated, there is a 25% chance that the resultant calf will inherit two normal alleles, a 50% chance that the mating will result in a carrier (i.e. with just 1 copy of the undesirable allele, and a 25% chance that the calf will inherit two copies of the undesirable gene.
