Jambili, Athlone and Kildare South Devon Studs would like to warmly welcome you to this, our second annual Production Sale. We are offering a selection of Purebred Registered South Devon Bulls, South Devon Infused Bulls, South Devon Females, and an offering of potential led steer and heifers suitable for the 2024 Show Season.
These 3 studs have been working together breeding and exhibiting their pure and infused South Devon Cattle for a combined total in excess of 50 years. All 3 studs have experienced extensive success at Royal and Local Shows, Farming field days and carcass competitions.
Jambili Stud, located at Jandowae, Qld; is owned and operated by the McUtchen Family. Their initial introduction to the South Devon breed was purchasing a commercial bull to use to breed South Devon infused led steers. After years of success, they made the decision to begin their own stud in 2015 and haven’t looked back since. Originally located on the South Burnett at Windera, the McUtchens’ made the decision to relocate their herd to clean country in 2016 to their current location. They enjoy breeding their South Devon and Belgian Blue infused cattle which have proven themselves time and time again in the sale and show ring.
Athlone South Devon Stud, Carmila, North Qld, is owned and operated by Graham and Heather Lindsay. Athlone made the move from Kupunn near Dalby on the Darling Downs to North Queensland region of Carmila in 2019. Since their move Graham and Heather have been relishing the opportunity to introduce Northern Queensland to the benefits and diversity of the South Devon Breed.
Their bull, Casino River, purchased from Casino High has caused interest in the North Qld Show Circuit. His size, softness and temperament has proved to be favourable amongst the other exhibitors. This interest has encouraged Athlone to make the decision to collect River, and his semen will be available in the near future.
Kildare South Devon Stud, Upper Horton NSW, arguably one of the East Coasts most well-known Studs, is owned and operated by ASDS Life Members Rick and Sue McDouall. Rick and Sue are enthusiastic advocates for the South Devon breed and are happy to chat about the breeds merits to anyone who will listen. Kildare supply cattle to many markets, most notably Meat on Maitland butchers and online butchers Our Cow. Our Cow has been a great platform for promoting South Devon Beef to the general public as each cut is labelled with the breed and details of the cattle producer. Rick and Sue produce both Red and Black pure South Devon cattle, and their genetics feature in the herds of a large number of our countries top beef producers.
We thank you for taking the time to consider our selection of cattle available for sale, and we are happy to answer any questions which you might have.

The McUtchen family’s name has been synonymous with Led Steer and carcass competitions throughout the past 31 years. They have won Grand Champion Carcass at Callide Dawson Beef Carcass Competition three times, multiple Champion and Reserve Champions on Hoof and Hook at the Royal Queensland Show and many local Led Steer competitions. One award has remained elusive for the family until recently, that is a Grand Champion Ribbon for the Led Steer Competition at Ekka.
The McUtchen Family won their first Grand Champion Ribbon for the Led Steer Competition this year with their steer #308, a South Devon x steer known as ‘Noodles’.
‘Noodles’ scored 96 out of a possible 100, his EMA measured 102cm which was the largest in the lightweight classes. Noodles’ full brother, ‘Dude’ was named Champion Lightweight Steer on Hoof in 2018 and was sold to the Bracken Ridge Tavern. Dude’s full brother ‘Doodles’ hung up as Res. Heavy Weight Carcass Champion too.
‘Noodles’ failed in his quest to win a ribbon on hoof and was sold directly to Nolan’s Meats for the grid price. Nolans later sold the Carcass to the ‘Breakfast Creek Hotel’, we look forward to attending their Champions Luncheon in October.

Bell is a small town with a population of approximately 500 people. There is accommodation available at the Bell Caravan Park, Bellview Hotel or camping facilities at the Bell Showgrounds.
There are also a number of motels available in Dalby available for those wishing to stay a day or two.
Parking is located by staying on the left track when you enter the Bell Showgrounds, follow this track around and it will take you to the Prime Yards which is where the Sale is located.
The Jandowae Jillaroos Junior Netball Club will be hosting a Canteen again this year in the Bookies’ Shed, access is by taking the right-hand track when you enter the showgrounds and from there you can walk across the racetrack to the Sale.
Thank you for selecting one of our Sires. To ensure that he is at peak performance upon meeting your herd, we ask that when he arrives at his new home that he is left to settle into his surrounds preferably in a set of cattle yards with some female company for a day or two.
All of our bulls on offer today have been vaccinated with Vibiro, 3 Day, 7-in-1 and have been blooded. All have passed their semen tests. We do however recommend that you take the time to insure your purchase for at least 12 months. Aussie Land and Livestock will be able to assist you with this arrangement.
