Webster Hall Named after former Headmaster Daniel Webster, Webster Hall, built in 1853, is today referred to as the main building.

The embodiment of the Academy’s rich traditions and history, the main building houses most administrative offices, as well as many classrooms.

Bion R. Cram Library Opened in 2003, named for Bion R. Cram, Class of 1933, the library is the academic heart of the campus. The building includes a spacious library, four classrooms, computer labs, private study areas and a climate-controlled archival room.

In the archives one can view the school charter, signed in 1792 by John Hancock and other founding fathers, as well as Daniel Webster’s desk.

Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center Opened in January 2009, the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center at Fryeburg Academy provides our award-winning music and theater programs with a beautiful new home. The center contains a 400 seat theater, two art galleries, and a seminar classroom. With state-ofthe-art technology and outstanding acoustics, the center hosts a variety of student shows, professional performances, guest speakers and class meetings. The center is named after Leura Hill Eastman, Class of 1927, through the generosity of her daughter Diane Eastman Powell, Class of 1953, and her husband Monte.

Harvey Dow Gibson Recreation Center & Ada Cram Wadsworth Arena The Harvey Dow Gibson Recreation Center and Ada Cram Wadsworth Arena opened in 2007. The complex is one of the finest athletic facilities in the state of Maine. It contains three full sized basketball courts, a modern fitness center, eight locker rooms, a large wrestling room, a trainer’s room, athletics offices and a conference room. All-school assemblies, sporting events, practices, school dances, and physical educational classes are examples of the events held in the arena.

The recreation center is named after Harvey Dow Gibson – alumnus, benefactor and former President of the Board of Trustees. His legacy continues because of the generous donation of his niece, Mrs. Evelyn Woodbury. The arena is named for Ada Cram Wadsworth, sister of Bion R. Cram.

Gibson Music Center Built in 1924 as the original Gibson Gym, in 1996 this building became the Gibson Music Hall. A recording studio, several practice rooms, and a large rehearsal and performance area are a few of the modern features of this building. The building’s design gives it excellent acoustics.

Eastman Science Center The Eastman Science Center houses six classrooms and the science office. All classrooms have modern lab stations and are equipped with modern technology.

This facility allows our highly qualified science faculty to incorporate experiments, demonstrations, field trips and hands-on projects into their courses. The Eastman Science center is named after former trustee Harry K. Eastman, Class of 1921.

Chase Hall Located in the center of campus, Chase Hall is currently the home of the Center for International Students and the foreign language department. Built for use as a girl’s dormitory, Chase Hall was dedicated on June 10, 1956 in memory of Leah Barker Chase, Fryeburg Academy alumna.

Dining Hall The Mr. and Mrs. LaCasce Dining Hall, connected to the main building, was built in the mid-1980’s to accommodate the Academy’s growing population. Our wonderful kitchen staff serves a wide variety of food to our students and faculty. The homemade desserts, weekend brunch, large salad bar, and the monthly dress dinner are just a few of the highlights.

Athletic fields Fryeburg Academy has beautiful athletic fields surrounded by the foothills of western Maine.

Football, lacrosse, field hockey, softball, baseball, track, and soccer are all played on campus.

Dormitories All dormitories at Fryeburg Academy have two live-in faculty dorm parents, a common room with a flat screen T.V., washers and dryers, and high speed wireless internet. We have three boys’ dormitories and one larger girls’ dormitory. Most rooms in the dormitories are doubles; there are also a few singles, and a couple of triples.
