Buenas perspectivas para Top Seeds

casa de semillas promociona sus últimas variedades, Varane y Arkane, mientras prepara el lanzamiento de otra novedad en California rojo para ciclo temprano y medio nes de producción, ofrece mucha calidad y producción desde el principio con frutos pesados y con calibre.

Arkane, por su parte, tiene un entrenudo medio-largo. Los frutos viran rápidamente de color y, como en el caso de Varane, son pesados, de alta calidad, y con mucho recorrido. “La planta llega a final de ciclo sin problema, con mucho cuaje arriba”.

Cabe destacar también la facilidad de manejo en ambas. “Son muy plásticas y ofrecen muy buen rendimiento de cara al agricultor. Con ellas vas a lo seguro”.

La genética de Top Seeds, con pimientos pesados y de calibre, sigue dando sus frutos. Este año, el ‘plato fuerte’ será una nueva variedad de California rojo para siembras tempranas y medias. De forma paralela, siguen promocionando otras dos opciones ganadoras de su gama R€npimiento que se encuentran en el primer año comercial: Varane, para siembras tempranas (junio), que se enmarca en el segmento de Arnon; y para ciclo medio, coincidiendo con Galiano, Arkane (julio). Ambas tienen resistencias a oídio, L4 y spotted y forman parte de una nueva generación. Pero no se presentan como sustitutas, sino como alternativa. “Hay gente fiel, agricultores incondicionales que seguirán con las anteriores, Arnon y Galiano, mientras que otros productores demandan resistencias según la zona, terreno...”, explica Melchor Guzmán, técnico comercial de Top Seeds Ibérica.

Otras ventajas agronómicas de Varane y Arkane son su buen cuaje con calor y una gran calidad de principio a fin del cultivo, sin problemas de peseta.

En este primer año comercial, Varane ha tenido muy buena aceptación en Adra y Berja. “Ha dado la talla. La semilla se agotó rápidamente”. Y con Arkane las perspectivas son muy buenas, algo que se podrá constatar pronto. Tras varios años en desarrollo han podido constatar que “eran justo lo que andábamos buscando”.

The genetics used by Top Seeds, with heavy, large peppers, continues to give impressive results. This year, the pièce de résistance will be a new variety of red California for early and medium sowing. Simultaneously, they continue promoting another two winning options from their ‘R€npimiento’ range that are in their first commercial year: Varane, for early sowing (June), within the Arnon segment; and for medium cycle, coinciding with Galiano, there is Arkane (July). Both have resistance to powdery mildew, L4 and spotted, and they form part of a new generation. But they are not being presented as replacements, but rather as alternatives. “There are loyal farmers, who unconditionally will continue with the previous varieties, Arnon and Galiano, whilst other producers are demanding resistances according to the region, soil…,” explains Melchor Guzmán, a trade specialist from Top Seeds Ibérica.

Lo nuevo de Top Seeds sigue el patrón de calidad de variedades anteriores: muy fuertes de raíz, con mucho vigor y frutos de calibre G y 70% GG, en línea con la demanda de la cadena. “El mercado pide más tamaño en los primeros cuajes, y con estas variedades consigues calibre desde el principio”.

The latest developments from Top Seeds have a similar quality compared to the previous varieties: very strong roots, with great hardiness and fruit with calibre G and 70% GG, in line with the demands made by the chain. “The market is asking for larger sizes in the first sets, and with these varieties, there is good calibre from the very beginning.”

Other agronomical advantages of Varane and Arkane are their good setting in hot weather with great quality from beginning to end of the crop, without any problems with blossom end rot.

The differences between the two are very subtle. Varane has medium internodes, with no production halts; it offers high quality and production from the beginning, with heavy, large fruit.

Arkane, on the other hand, has medium-long internodes. The fruit change colour quickly and, as in the case of Varane, they are heavy, high quality and with a long production period. “The plant reaches the end of the cycle without any problems, with important setting in the upper part.”

The ease of handling in both cases is also worth mentioning. “They are very plastic and they offer a very good yield for farmers. They are a safe bet.”

In this first commercial year, Varane has been accepted very well in Adra and Berja. “It has risen to the challenge. The seeds ran out quickly.” And with Arkane, the prospects are very good, a point that may be verified very soon. After several years in development, the company has have been able to confirm that “they were just what we were looking for.”
