Pearland Cart Use Automated Service FAQ’s • When will the new service start? Frontier Waste will begin service
for residents on Friday, October 1st.
• Will I have to pay for the new cart? No. The new recycling and
trash carts will be delivered without additional cost. The capacity of the new cart should be sufficient for the average household, considering it will be serviced twice per week, along with once per week recycle services. If the 95 gal cart is not sufficient, an additional cart may be requested for an additional monthly rate.
• Is my service day changing?
For the majority of Pearland residents, service dates will remain the same. Less than 10% of addresses will see a day change. Check out the detailed service map on pages 11 & 12. Residents can also check for updated service maps via Pearland’s website (& entering your address), the Frontier Waste App, or Frontier’s website.
• What will happen if my service day falls on a holiday? Frontier
will observe two (2) holidays - Thanksgiving and Christmas day. Scheduled service that falls on one of these two holidays will be serviced the next scheduled service day. (Ex: Residents scheduled for trash service on Thanksgiving Thursday will be serviced on the following Monday. Scheduled recycling or bulk/ green waste will be serviced the following Thursday.) Again, all service days and holidays can be found via page 10 or from the links above.
• Is there a different truck for recycling?
Yes, the recycling truck will be a different unit, but both trucks will operate in the “SideLoad” mechanical arm function.
• How should the carts be set out on my service days? Carts
should be placed with the lid opening facing the street and the wheels closest to the curb. Each cart should be a minimum of 4 ft from any objects including mailboxes, fire hydrants, cars, other carts, etc.
13
• Does my trash need to be bagged? To prevent any future
problems, we ask that you bag any waste being placed in the gray and green Frontier Trash cart to help minimize loose trash/ debris on street during service, odors, and the need to wash carts frequently. Any accepted recycle can be placed loosely in the provided green and yellow Frontier Recycle cart.
• Who do I call for service questions? You can call Frontier Waste
Solutions: 936-258-9035 – and be sure to mention you are a Pearland resident. You may also call the City of Pearland at 281652-1900.
• Who do I call for billing or administrative inquiries? The City of
Pearland: 281-652-1603.
• What if I have more trash than can fit into the cart? On
occasion, residents may have more trash than usual. There are multiple options available to residents:
° A -pink tag- can be purchased via the Frontier Waste App or by
contacting Frontier for $0.65/tag. Once purchased, place tag on extra bags at curb and driver will collect.
° Residents can arrange with Frontier for a special pick-up for
debris more than two (2) yards for an additional cost. A Frontier representative will provide the cost estimate prior to servicing.
° An additional cart can be obtained for $9.26/month additional,
plus taxes, if trash volume is consistantly more than what fits in cart.
14
• What should I do with the Green Recycle cart I have now?
The Recycle Cart you currently have is the property of Waste Management. This cart will be removed and returned to Waste Management as the new Frontier Recycle Cart and Trash Cart are delivered to residents beginning in September. Waste Management will continue to service recycling from Frontier’s cart until September 30, 2021. The new Recycle Cart will also be green with a yellow lid to differentiate between the trash cart that is all gray with a green lid. Trash carts will not be serviced by Waste Management. Trash carts will be serviced beginning October 1, 2021, by Frontier Waste Solutions.
• What do I do with my old trash cans that I have used for
placing trash out? The City does not permit the use of personal
trash cans for trash service. If using a personal trash can/cart that will no longer be used there are numerous environmental uses for the can/cart: Use as extra storage for tools, soil, mulch Rain barrel Animal feed storage DIY potato/carrot planter Collect recyclables prior to dumping in recycle cart Recycle old can; contact Frontier or Stella Roberts Recycling Center for more information • Have a great recycling idea? Share it with Keep Pearland Beautiful at admin@mykpb.org. • If recycling is not an option, toss with heavy trash, and note “Please Discard” • • • • • •
• What day are brush/bulk/green waste collected? Beginning
October 1, 2021, Frontier will collect bulk/heavy trash and brush/ green waste together, once a week. There will not be separate green waste collection. Refer to the maps on pages 11&12 for route schedules. As well, residents can check route schedule, for all trash services, by visiting pearlandtx.gov/gis and typing in address or via the Frontier Waste App and website. Refer to page 9 for acceptable and unacceptable bulk and brush collection. Bagged green waste is accepted in trash cart if space allows and cart lid can close completely. Otherwise, green waste placed on curb shall be in clear bags or brown bags for collection, so the driver recognizes this as green waste. NOTE: green waste in dark bags placed on curb will not be serviced, as drivers will not open bags to determine contents.
15
• Are there any items that I can’t get rid of through regular or
bulky trash days? Unacceptable Wastes are those that are classified as Hazardous or Special Waste and might violate or endanger any person, party, permit, condition, legal or regulatory requirement, substantial damage to equipment or facilities, or present a danger to the health or safety of the public or employees. These include, but are not limited to: •
