No Name Lodge, Puerto Rico

February 15-21, 2026

HOST: BARRY BECK

FROM YOUR HOST

When you hear that guides from south Florida are traveling to a tarpon destination, it tends to grab your attention. It hits differently. Located on the Southwest corner of the island of Puerto Rico, the village of Boqueron is home to a few thousand residents, countless hungry tarpon, and No Name Lodge.

The fishing here is centered on two outstanding species, with tarpon and permit both found in great numbers. Anglers of all skill levels will enjoy the variety of fishing at No Name Lodge, with plentiful shots at aggressive, mid-size tarpon being the main attraction, and the options of technical wade-fishing for tailing permit or chasing large migratory tarpon being available for those with the skills and nerve to take them on.

On top of thrilling fishing, there is an ease and convenience to this program that makes it especially interesting to many of us U.S.-based anglers. No passport is required for US citizens to travel to Puerto Rico and no customs to deal with on the outbound or return. For guests that may not have the full array of big game tackle, the lodge provides top-shelf equipment for guest use. You can hop on a flight with little more than a change of clothes, driver’s license, sunglasses, hat and sunscreen, and they will make sure you are outfitted for success on the flats.

What to expect

No Name Fly Lodge primarily targets tarpon and permit. Guests can expect a fun, free-flowing program that consists of seldom-fished waters and nights full of island culture and cuisine. This program consistently produces excellent opportunities to fish for hungry tarpon with experienced guides. Our anglers love the number of shots they get at unpressured juvenile and adult tarpon, as well as the opportunity for shots at tailing permit on the flats. The lodge is located in Boquerón, PR, a small village on the southwest corner of the island, with colorful architecture and an exciting downtown to explore after days on the water. Travel is easy, and because Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory, there are no passports needed and no customs to clear.

No Name Lodge has some of the best Tarpon fishing in the world. Thesefish face less angling pressure than most other destinations, making for more cooperative, fly-friendly fish.

This program offers a wide variety of settings for a range of angler skill andweather conditions. There are mangrove areas that are protected from the wind as well as open flats similar to those in the Keys.

Permit fishing is often done on foot in the surf, while tarpon fishing is mostly done from the skiffs.

One of the highlights of your stay is exploring the vibrant local food scene, only steps away from the lodge's front door in downtown Boquerón, where you can explore hidden gems and go-to spots with sea food and authentic Puerto Rican dishes. This unique arragnement affords an authentic taste of the region, and a memorable dining experience immersed in the local beach town culture.

NOTE – while No Name Lodge doesn’t offer scheduled nightly dinners at the house, they do occasionally offer a specialty in house dinner on the third-floor balcony, courtesy of the lodge and guides.
