Tuesday March 1

Arrive Seville. You will be met upon arrival by a staff member from Los Melonares and transferred to the Lodge. Transfer time is approximately 45 minutes. Welcome to Los Melonares. The group will be shown to their rooms to relax and unpack. Los Melonares reminds us the most of a UK shoot with the thicker bush, greener hues and more acute valleys. The shooting is excellent and one cannot help but feel at home at the wonderful house with its orange tree-lined courtyards, large outside sitting areas and display of trophies from times gone by. A collection that your host's father, the first ever Weatherby Trophy to be won by a Spaniard. The family is very hands on beginning with your hostess/owner Pachi, a keen shot herself and a bundle of energy for whom nothing is too much trouble. Her charming, relaxed No 2 is Gerónimo, what a team! Guests will be staying for three nights at Los Melonares, a magnificent and unique Andalusian “Hacienda” with 12 double rooms, fountains and gardens, library, several reception rooms, and the famous Madariaga Worldwide Trophy Room. The hacienda is located in the heart of the estate and provides most comfortable accommodations and excellent Andalusian cuisine, complemented by courteous and friendly service. Los Melonares, which is in the heart of “Sierra Norte de Sevilla,” is owned and run by the family of Valentin de Madariaga. Sevilla Region offers a very pleasant weather during the whole hunting season, with average temperatures between 10 ºC to 20 ºC. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be followed by dinner at the estate

Wednesday March 2

Arise and prepare for your first morning of shooting in Spain. Non-shooters will join in the field. Enjoy a full day of shooting with the Los Melonares team. “Los Melonares” shoot includes 1,500 hectares of very undulated landscape, with stunning views over Sierra Norte. Estate vegetation is mainly evergreen oaks, brooms, “palmitos”, olive trees, pasture and arable land, with two permanent water courses. Access to every drive and pegs is an easy walk. Los Melonares shows excellent high birds driven from distance thus having time to lift across the valleys. There is plenty of variety too with their signature drive, El Muro, an example. Guns are tight to a valley bank and birds are launched high off the top so there is little time to shoot. In an effort to preserve tradition, the hunters and their companions are offered “the taco” at mid-morning. An aperitif with personality in the middle of the field, which is served with the utmost care taken over every detail. Taco and lunch are taken outside under canvas overlooking the house or some of the other stunning views. Following your shoot, return to the Hacienda for dinner and overnight.
