What to expect

The Limay River Lodge is uniquely and privately situated downriver from the town of Piedra del Águila on the southern bank of the middle Limay River. Targeting larger-than-average rainbows and browns, along with migratory brown trout, the Limay offers a blend of big-water drift fishing and ample walk and wade opportunities. The Limay River Lodge holds the unique distinction of being the only destination on the south bank strategically located at the prime spot of this tailwater, providing exclusive boat put-ins and access to 10 breathtaking beats.

Near Junín de los Andes courses arguably the most famous river in the region, the Malleo, and Hosteria San Huberto. Notorious for her inexhaustible and diverse hatches, this spring creek like freestone is synonymous with dry fly fishing and Patagonia.

The Olsen family’s 25,000-acre property shelters 16 miles of premium pools and runs which are known to be the best and most densely trout populated in the entire river length. With Swiss-watch efficiency, Carmen and Ronnie offer premium attention in a comfortable family atmosphere.

The Limay is Patagonia’s finest tailwater. A freestone-like river featuring gravel flats, braids, riffles, and sheer cliff walls, the Limay is optimally targeted by a fleet of modern drift boats on 10 beats offered by Patagonia Outfitters.

ITINERARY

FEB 28, Depart USA

Depart U.S.A. via overnight commercial flight service to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

MAR 1, Arrive in buenos aires

Arrive Buenos Aires, Ezeiza International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met by a Frontiers arranged guide, who will provide your transfer to the hotel of your choice in the lovely city of Buenos Aires. Hotel accommodations can be arranged on your behalf for one night. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

MAR 2, journey to Hosteria San Huberto

At a prearranged time, you will be met by a Frontiers arranged guide, who will provide your transfer from the hotel to the J. Newbery Domestic Airport and check in for your flight to the San Martin de los Andes Airport. Depart Buenos Aires via commercial flight service to San Martin de los Andes.

Arrive San Martin de los Andes where you will be met by a Patagonia Outfitters representative and transferred to the Hosteria San Huberto. Once there, you will be welcomed to the lodge by your hosts, Carmen and Ronnie Olsen. A meal will be served followed by fishing this afternoon or evening on the renowned Río Malleo. At the conclusion of fishing, return to the lodge for cocktails, dinner and overnight accommodations at San Huberto.

Note: Due to the nature of air travel within Argentina, every effort will be made to fish upon the day of arrival.

MAR 3-7, FIVE full days of fishing

Five full fishing days on the Malleo. With twenty miles of some of the best match-the-hatch river fishing flowing through the ranch, there are plenty of runs, riffles and pools flowing through the estancia that hold ample brown and rainbow trout. Fish both morning and evening, with lunch at the lodge. Return to the lodge each evening for cocktails, dinner and overnight accommodations.

MAR 8, Transfer to Limay River Lodge

After breakfast and time for packing, your guide will transfer you to Limay River Lodge.

Once there, you will be welcomed by the lodge staff and fishing guides. Begin fishing the Limay River this afternoon. At the end of your fishing day you will return to the inviting atmosphere of the lodge and relax with fine Argentine wines and delicious chef-prepared cuisine. The lodge features seven bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The comfortable living room is a great place to unwind after a day on the river.

MAR 9-12, FOUR FULL DAYS OF FISHING

Four full days fishing the program of Limay River Lodge. The massive river has many side channels that can be worked and often there are spots where you can get out and wade the productive drop offs and seams in the current. Lunch is served on the river bank or one of the many islands in the river. You may opt to take a short siesta after lunch followed a return to the river to fish the afternoon and evening hatch. Return to the lodge at dusk for dinner and overnight accommodations.

MAR 13, Depart Argentina

After breakfast and time for packing, your guide will transfer you to the Bariloche Airport.

Depart Bariloche via commercial flight service to Buenos Aires. Arrive Buenos Aires, J. Newbery Domestic Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met by a Frontiers arranged guide who will provide your transfer to Ezeiza International Airport and check in for your international flight home.

Depart Buenos Aires via commercial flight service to U.S.A.

MAR 14, arrive in usa

Arrive USA. Clear immigrations, collect luggage and clear customs.

DEPOSIT REFUND POLICY:

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the land cost is due at time of reservation. Balance payable at time of final land package invoicing. Final / full payment is also non-refundable unless client replacement is provided.
