It's b e e n man y ye ar s since we had our fir st look at the r iver and I ' v e s e e n a l l po ssi bl e fi sh i ng conditions on the year s since, but I can ho nes tl y s a y t h e r e is n o fi ne r fi shi ng anywher e in the west than ther e is r igh t now o n t h e Bi g horn. T h e r i v e r h a s ma tu red tha n ks to the cooper ation of the folks up at the dam , t h e a n g l e r s, ran ch e rs, an d b o ater s: and as long as M other Natur e does n't t h r o w a n y curve b a l l s, i t l o o ks good for cur r ent conditions to continue. Gone a r e t h e 5 0 - fi sh da ys w i th ma n y fish in the 10- 13 inch class. A good day now is h a l f a s man y fi sh, o r l e ss, but they will all be heavy, big, and beauti ful f i s h . T h e r e w a s a ti me w h e n a 20" was a big fish on the ' Hor n—today w e'l l s e e m a n y fi sh ove r 2 0 " —an d we' ll see our backing alm ost ever yday. What to expect T h e Bi g h o rn R i ve r Lo d ge is ideally located about 13 m iles d o w n s trea m o f the A fte rbay. The lodge’s pr ivate takeout will spoi l a n g l e rs si n ce a coo l d ri n k and lounge chair can be had on the dec k w i t h i n mi n u te s o f g e tti ng out of the boat at the end of the day. And i f y o u w an t to w et a l i n e after dinner, walk about a m inute fr om the l o d g e you ’ l l be a t o n e o f the best pools in the r iver – you m ay wan t t o f o r ge t you r w ad e rs a n d just take your r od for a walk. Or you m ay b e t e m pte d to w e t a l i ne i n the pr ivate bass pond liter ally thr ee feet f r o m the l ow er de ck o r engage in a fr iendly gam e of poker at their cu stom m ade poker table.

Week 1 ITINERARY AUG 22, Travel to lodge Arrive at the Billings Logan Airport. Uppon your arrival at the Billings Airport, please claim your bags and proceed to the waiting area by the Visitor's Information Booth. Barry will meet and transfer you to the lodge (approximately a 90-minute drive). You will depart the airport no later than 2:30 p.m. Note: Please plan on stopping along the way for any libations (beer/wine/hard alcohol) you may wish to have during your stay, as the lodge does not provide any alcoholic beverages. At the lodge, you will be shown to your accommodations and given a brief orientation. After dinner, enjoy your first night at Bighorn River Lodge. Cell Phone & Internet Service: There is some cell phone service at the lodge. Bighorn River Lodge has a computer and printer in their business center for guest use during your stay, and WiFi is available throughout the lodge.

AUG 23-28, six full days of fishing Enjoy six full days of fly fishing on the Bighorn River. Breakfast is provided each morning with lunch served streamside daily. Upon completion of fishing each day, dinner will be served. Enjoy continued overnight accommodations at Bighorn River Lodge.

AUG 29, Depart Bighorn River Lodge After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the Billings Logan Airport to check in for your return flight. You'll need to book a returning flight after 11:30 AM in order to make your flight on time.
