Covering five of the seven continents, we have escorted clients on trout fishing trips in Montana, Argentina, Chile, Spain and New Zealand; saltwater fishing trips to Christmas Island, Bahamas, Belize and Mexico; followed Africa’s majestic animal populations on a photographic safari and participated in the occasional cast and blast in Alaska. If fly fishing and wingshooting are not high on your list, we also offer an array of exclusive leisure activities each year. Past trips included The Galapagos Islands, India, Myanmar (Burma), Chile, Egypt and the Asian Subcontinent. All of our trips are escorted by industry experts including Barry & Cathy Beck, and Frontiers own Mike and Kristene Fitzgerald, Mollie Fitzgerald and Tarquin Millington-Drake. Elegant Journeys in Iceland The Land of Fire & Ice In addition to world-class sport-fishing, Iceland offers an infinite number of other compelling reasons to visit, and the experts at Frontiers are well positioned to assist with this process. We have outstanding partnerships with professional guides, and we can customize extensions to fishing trips and standalone holidays in Iceland. Frontiers Suggests the Following Extensions •

Equestrian Pursuits: The Icelandic horse is docile and sure-footed. It is known for its small stature and unique gait, the tolt (similar to that of a Tennessee walker). The tolt makes these ponies comfortable to ride for hours at a time.

Bird Watching: The puffin, a small pelagic sea bird, is an iconic symbol of Iceland. The largest colony of puffins in the world nests in the Westmann Islands, just off the coast of Iceland. Day trips from Reykjavik are available.

Cruise around Iceland: Unpack once and explore Iceland’s diverse perimeter by sea. Several top smallship adventure cruise companies now offer “Circumnavigation of Iceland” departures with zodiac landings and naturalist guides

Super Jeep Safari: The best way to explore Iceland’s interior terrain is via “Super Jeep” – specially equipped, 4x4 SUVs which are mounted on extra wide tires. Air pressure is released to soften the bumps in “off-road conditions.” We recommend the Central Highlands or Porsmork.

Whale Watching: Minke whales, humpback whales, and fin whales are found in the fertile waters around Iceland. It is possible to join whale watching excursions from Reykjavik in the south. The best sightings – some with 98% success – are in the north from Husavik.

Geothermal pools and hot springs: A dip in the Blue Lagoon is a must! It is a large outdoor geothermal pool with an otherworldly setting in an ancient lava field. Open year round and close to the international airport, its milky-blue, mineral-rich waters are thought to have therapeutic properties. The Blue Lagoon is named by National Geographic as one of the “25 Wonders of the World.” There are hot springs bubbling up all over the country!

Proposed Itinerary for Iceland Trout Fishing June 11 - 19, 2015 Thursday, June 11 Depart the United States for Iceland. Friday, June 12 Arrive Keflavik International Airport. You will be met by Kristjan Pall Rafnsson of Fish Partner, who will be identified with a sign that says “Beck Party” on it. The group will be transferred to the Hotel Ion, where accommodations will have been confirmed on your behalf for one night. Settle in and relax in this fine hotel and enjoy the beauty of Iceland from within this luxury hotel. Saturday, June 13 - Sunday, June 14 Fish two days for brown trout in the clear waters of Lake Thingvallavatn. Each morning you will be met by Kristjan and his guides and you will fish the shores and bays of Lake Thingvallavatn. The lake is considered to be approximately 12,000 years old and home to prehistoric strains of brown trout and arctic char. The brown trout in Thingvallavatn average in the 4-10 pound range, but much larger fish, sometimes up to 25 pounds, are not uncommon. There is an abundance of arctic char as well, but these fish are more common in July. You will work the shores of the lake with floating lines and will throw streamers, nymphs and dry flies for cruising trout. Continued overnight at the Hotel Ion. Monday, June 15 After breakfast, your guides will transfer you to the Hotel Highland (about a 1.5 hour drive). Settle in to the Hotel Highland and fish in the afternoon. Hotel Highland, a three-star hotel is situated at the edge of Iceland’s most beautiful and active volcanic area. From this hotel it is only a short distance to many beautiful attractions in the Icelandic highlands. The vastness of the region and lack of human impact make this area truly one of the last places in Europe where natural beauty and solitude combine for a breathtaking and memorable experience. Tuesday, June 16 - Thursday, June 18 Three full days fishing the Highland program. Rivers fished are the Upper and Lower Tungnaa & Kaldakvisl and the lakes Tinda and “Volcano”. Lunch will be taken on the river. Depart at the end of your fishing day back to the Highland Hotel. Fishing hours are from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday, June 19 After breakfast you will be transferred back to the Keflavik International Airport for your return flight home, a 2.5 hour drive. Depart Keflavik International Airport for the United States.
