Green light for Coalpit Heath post office move
Tired legs, happy people
POST Office bosses have given the OK for the Nisa Store in Coalpit Heath to house the village post office, with a massive increase in opening times as a bonus. Customers had been concerned when the former post office in Church Lane closed in March after the postmaster resigned and the building was sold. For many, it meant travelling further to find alternative postal services. But Nisa shop proprietor Edwina Pennell offered to take on the business and after a period of consultation, she has now been told the move can go ahead. As her store in Woodend Road also has longer opening hours, it means people will be able to get postal services more easily. A total of 60 hours extra will be offered, including on Sundays. Now users just have to wait for a formal announcement of the date of the switch.
