Academy principal remains in place after decision to leave is put on hold AMID all the changes at Winterbourne International Academy, one is being put on ice - at least temporarily. Richard Haupt, the school’s principal, had been set to leave at the end of August after putting in his resignation in the spring. But he has now agreed to stay on, probably until the end of the year, while his replacement is found. The academy (WIA) had not immediately advertised the post due to some areas of the organisation being “restructured” and as a result, it was thought unlikely that a suitable candidate would be able to join until January. With the current leadership model considered “very effective”, Mr Haupt was asked to delay his departure. He said he had “gladly agreed” and that it would be “a pleasure” to continue to serve the academy, its students and staff. Mr Haupt only joined WIA
