Principal announces departure from Winterbourne International Academy

HE hasn’t been in the job for a year but the principal of Winterbourne International Academy (WIA) has announced his resignation from the post. Richard Haupt’s decision will involve another shake-up for the federation that runs the academy as it tries to get back on track after experiencing “turbulent times”. Those difficulties have included a poor Ofsted report for both WIA and its sister Yate International Academy, a strike by teachers at the Winterbourne campus and the departure after only eight months of chief executive principal of the federation, Beverley Martin. Her replacement, Adam Williams, is still settling into his role since arriving in February. Mr Haupt joined the academy to replace Rob Evans, who retired after more than 30 years at WIA and its predecessor, the Ridings High School. Mr Williams said Mr Haupt had led the academy “through
