World Fringe

World Fringe is the international Fringe Festival association set up to serve the global Fringe community, including artists, venues, audiences and all those involved in the creative process. It is made up of more than 300 fringe festivals from across the globe, from Edinburgh to Adelaide, and from Montreal to Singapore.

The World Fringe Congress brought individuals and organisations from the Fringe sector together for the first time under one roof. By creating a platform for global connectivity, these meetings have helped to strengthen the sector as a whole. Fringe Festivals are important for cultural ecology as a platform for creativity and innovation. They enable emerging artists to present their work without the traditional restraints of commercial theatre spaces. Fringe provides an opportunity for exchange and a community between different countries and cultures, a place for freedom of exploration, and diverse voices to be heard and celebrated. Fringe Festivals foster collaboration between different artistic disciplines creating a vibrant cultural landscape that encourages creativity and expression.

The Toronto Fringe has always been a front runner in innovation and connectivity. The team are passionate and work hard to enable sparks to fly and stars to be made. They optimize the Fringe ethos of ‘If you want to do it you can… Fringes offer an alternative!’
