Frik De Meyere is a Belize-based real estate entrepreneur with over 20 years of international business experience. He is originally from Belgium and has spent over two decades building businesses across Europe and Central America Frik is the founder of Prime Belize Real Estate and has closed some of the highest-value property sales in Belize, including private islands and beachfront estates.
Background and Education
Frik was born and raised in a small farming village in Belgium near the Dutch border. He completed his early education in Ghent and Antwerp with degrees in information technology and emergency medical services Later, he earned an MBA from Flanders Business School and completed a second MBA at the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.
Before moving to Belize, Frik worked in several industries across Europe These included real estate development, information systems, cosmetics, food production, and construction. Over
the course of more than a decade, he led and invested in over 20 startups Several of these businesses were later sold or merged into larger firms. He also completed the construction and sale of more than 100 residential units during that time
Arrival in Belize and Real Estate Growth
Frik first visited Belize in 2004 during a business scouting trip with his partner Ilse Van Keer He saw opportunities in the real estate sector and began acquiring properties. In 2011, he relocated with his family and joined the BMA real estate firm in Placencia
At that time, the company had three employees and managed a small volume of transactions Over the following decade, Frik helped build the operation into one of Belize's most successful real estate firms. Annual transactions increased from fewer than 15 to over 100. The team expanded to more than 20 professionals, and the range of listings grew to include high-value homes and islands.
Frik’s leadership helped the company gain recognition in international real estate circles Clients from North America and Europe began to view Placencia as a serious investment location. In mid-2023, Frik De Meyere decided to take a new direction He stepped away from BMA Real Estate and created Prime Belize Real Estate. The new company was formed with former colleagues and experienced local agents. Together, they introduced a modernized structure, allowing quicker response times, flexible scheduling, and improved listing visibility

Prime Belize Real Estate opened in January 2024. Frik continues to lead sales, manage strategy, and guide business development Listings range from vacant land parcels to beachfront villas and fully developed private islands
Frik has also remained active across several business ventures in Belize He created 501properties com, a real estate classifieds platform that simplifies professional and individual listings. He also built Placencia Storage, now the largest storage rental facility in the country. Both businesses operate independently and support the broader infrastructure for property investors and residents
He and Ilse also founded Chillpoint, a coffee shop, ice cream bar, and wine lounge in Placencia Frik directly influenced the business's planning, construction, and promotion. Chillpoint opened with local interest and continues to operate as a profitable and popular space for residents and visitors.
Civic Contributions and Community Support
Frik has continued to be loyal to his adopted home He became a naturalized Belizean citizen and was appointed a Justice of the Peace He served on the board of AREBB, the national real estate association in Belize, and continues to support real estate professionalism in the region.
His community involvement is consistent. He helped found a private school in Placencia and contributed funding to various education and youth programs He has supported the local fire department, school teams, regattas, and sports leagues. He has also participated in neighborhood watch programs and helped with housing for educators He and Ilse fostered children on weekends and holidays and later adopted a daughter from Belize
