This publication was produced for the six-match qualifying series between New Zealand, Australia and Taiwan as they strove to reach the 1978 FIFA World Cup finals in Argentina. New Zealand beat Taiwan 6-0 at Auckland's Newmarket Park with goals from Keith Nelson (3), Clive Campbell, Dave Taylor and Kevin Weymouth. Four days later, a Steve Sumner hat-trick led the Kiwis to another easy win against Taiwan. But Australia took the series with a 3-1 victory in Sydney and a 1-1 draw at Newmarket Park.
