Dear Friends.
Maureen and I are so happy to be here tonight to celebrate Friends Academy at Springtime with Friends, our Annual Dinner and Auction. This special evening reflects the generosity, care, and shared purpose that sustain this community.
We are deeply grateful to our chairs, Karen and Michael Keats and Jennifer and Michael Ross, for their leadership, as well as to our dinner sponsors, Elizabeth and Frank Ingrassia. Thank you also to the many families, alumni, colleagues, and businesses who have contributed through sponsorships, journal ads, donations, and volunteer time. Your generosity makes this evening, and so much more, possible.
As Maureen and I prepare to conclude our time at Friends Academy, we do so with full hearts and deep gratitude. Serving as Head of School over the past three years has been a profound honor. We are especially thankful for the partnership of our dedicated colleagues and the Board of Trustees, whose wisdom and care have guided the school and ensure its continued strength.
Grounded in its mission, Friends Academy is strong, supported by an engaged community, and well prepared for the future. We often talk about “stewardship” in the Quaker tradition, and tonight is the ultimate act of it. By being here, you are not just bidding on experiences or supporting a budget; you are tending the soil for the next generation of Friends Academy students. You are ensuring that our 150-year-old promise—to provide an education that honors both the mind and the spirit— remains unbroken.
This evening also serves as a beautiful opportunity to both celebrate our heritage, and illuminate the horizon for our school’s next chapter when Rik Dugan, my friend and successor, becomes the 26th Head of School. I have seen the vibrancy and vision he brings, and I am confident that under his leadership, Friends Academy will shine brighter than ever. To support this auction is to invest in that transition—to give our new Head of School the resources to dream as boldly as those who founded this school in 1876.
The theme Springtime with Friends feels especially fitting. It reminds us of renewal, growth, and the promise of what lies ahead—qualities that are deeply rooted in this community and reflected in the lives of our students.
As we begin our own next chapter—retiring to our home on Cape Cod, spending time with family, and embracing new adventures—I am reminded of the words of W.B. Yeats, who captured the essence of a life spent in community so perfectly:
“Think where man’s glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.”
My glory, and a great privilege of my career, has been the friendship of this community. Let us celebrate tonight with joy, bid with open hearts, and look forward together to the next 150 years. In friendship,

Dear Friends,
On the eve of our 150th Anniversary year, it has been our profound honor to serve as co-chairs of the Friends Academy Dinner and Auction — Springtime with Friends. To be part of the patchwork quilt of this beautiful Quaker institution and this amazing community is truly humbling.
Like most good things, bringing an event of this magnitude to fruition takes hard work and dogged commitment - this is where the Advancement team comes in. Without them, we truly would not be here. Laurie, Diane, Marilyn, Joan and the rest of the team, we are in awe of their dedication. If you see them tonight, please share your gratitude; they are amazing.
The Chairs would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the Auction Committee, Parent Council, the Friends Academy faculty, staff, and students, and all of our valued sponsors and donors.
We would be remiss not to mention tonight’s dinner sponsors, Elizabeth McCaul and Frank Ingrassia. Their steadfast leadership and generosity are a shining example for us all. Their philanthropy evidences deep commitment to this community, the sciences and perhaps most impactfully, to our children. We are forever in their debt.
To Paul Stellato, our Head of School — thank you, and Maureen, for coming to Friends Academy and stitching your own unique corner of our quilt with the knowledge built on a lifetime of service to education.

A heartfelt thank you to our Performing Arts Department and the many talented student performers who bring such joy and spirit to this evening. We are especially grateful for the beautiful musical collaboration you will experience tonight, featuring live student performances alongside a video showcasing voices from every division of Friends Academy, set to “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars—a true reflection of community, connection, and care. This special moment would not have been possible without the creativity and dedication
of our Communications team—Andrea Miller, Alvin Caal, Matt Gagne, Margaret Pegno Schwartz, and our Performing Arts faculty— Andrew Geha, Laura Backley, Tim Doran, James Liverani, and Colby Myers. Their collaboration with Laurie Hindley and our Advancement Office has brought this evening’s theme to life in a meaningful and memorable way, celebrating the power of student voices.
We are deeply grateful for the time, talent, and heart that each of you has shared with our community.

By bidding in Friends Academy’s silent auction, each bidder agrees to these terms and conditions:
1. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds unless otherwise noted. All items are “as is.” Friends has attempted to describe and catalog items correctly, but neither warrants nor represents and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. No statement made in the online catalog, or made orally at the auction or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability.
2. The auction item value listed is an estimate of fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless so noted. The amount you pay above this fair market value estimate is normally tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax adviser to clarify the amount of deduction.
3. Restaurant certificates do not include alcohol, tax, or gratuities unless specified.
4. Payment for items purchased must be made in full on the night of the auction. Friends Academy accepts American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or a check made payable to Friends Academy.
5. You will be emailed a receipt with pick-up instructions. The purchaser must pick up all items at Friends Academy located at 270 Duck Pond Road, unless special arrangements are made (see pick up instructions on the next page). Any item left unclaimed, without prior arrangements, will be sold and proceeds will go to Friends Academy.
6. Friends Academy reserves the right to add or withdraw items, without notice, to or from the auction.
7. Unless otherwise specified, all auction gift certificates must be used within one year of the date of the auction.
8. Each person bidding assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability (including liability arising indirectly) Friends Academy, its elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer, the auction company and its agents and employees, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction.
We are pleased to once again include an interactive wireless automated silent auction bidding process. With OneCause, you can bid anytime, from anywhere at the event using your smartphone. You can bid on items, watch items, and be instantaneously alerted when you have been outbid. At the end of the auction, you know exactly what you have won. No more running back and forth to the bidding tables.
Live
Each participant will receive an assigned bidding number. Please raise your paddle with the bid number in plain view of the auctioneer to be recognized. “Spotters” will be present in the ballroom to assist in recognizing bidders.
The auctioneer will have sole and final discretion to determine the highest/successful bidder. Any item not reaching its minimum bid may be withdrawn at the option of the auctioneer. All sales are final
Payment & Checkout
A credit card is required to participate in bidding. You may swipe your card in advance or upon arrival to enable express checkout. If you are the winning bidder, your card will automatically be charged for the total amount of your purchases. Please check your account to view your final charges. If you do not win any items, your card will not be charged.
Item Distribution & Pickup
All winning bidders must pick up their items at Friends Academy from Tuesday, April 28 through Friday, May 1, between 8:15–10:00 a.m. and 2:30–3:30 p.m., in the Advancement Office located on the 2nd floor of the Withington House (adjacent to the Frost Hall parking lot.)
Gift certificates will be distributed at pickup and will not be mailed. Please note that we are unable to ship items, particularly large or bulky pieces.
