SUMMER FUN FACTS Did you know summer time is known for many interesting things? The first modern Olympic Games were held in the summer in 1896 in Athens, Greece. June is Pride Month to celebrate the LGBTQ community. July is Parks and Recreation month! A great month to be outdoors and more healthy and active with your family! June 19 is Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. June 20 is Father’s Day this year. Don't forget about Dad! In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month. We celebrate Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year.

Won't you come adventuring with us? Alameda County Library is inviting people of all ages and abilities to come along for our 2021 Summer Adventure! From June 15 to August 15, take part in this year’s theme - A World of Stories. We believe that we can all relate to each other because we live in a world of stories. We have our own stories that can be expressed through storytelling, and we can learn about others by reading, listening, and connecting through stories told by someone else. By sharing stories, we can achieve a deeper understanding of the world we all live in. Adventure Guide booklets will be available at our AC Library Locations starting June 15 and will include plenty of activities for all to enjoy. We’ll have book gifts and prizes, too! Summer Adventure is the reimagined Summer Reading Game.
