The original We don’t need a map exhibition was the result of a partnership between Fremantle Arts Centre, Martumili Artists, Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa and BHP Billiton. “My time at FAC granted me much more than I could have imagined. Though I was here only one month, I was given the encouragement, resources and support that granted me with a truly unique experience - One that will continue to elevate my art practice even after I return to the US. Not to mention that, by being here, I was fortunate enough to become acquainted with such wonderful artists and amazing artworks / art practices and people who support art with sincere passion. I hope to stay in touch with all of you and offer my support to the Art Centre in the years to come. This residency and how it is run / what it offers has set the bar quite high.�

“The unusual collaboration between a pop singer, beatboxer and jazz arranger is what audiences have come to expect from the Soft Soft Loud concert series, thanks to the vision of artistic director Matthew Hoy who prioritises the collaborative nature of chamber music above the restrictions of “genre”. The breadth and purity of sound quality ... was something a producer in a recording studio might spend hours trying to manufacture. And we were experiencing it live, with the emotional resonance that happens between audience and performers when chamber music is at its best.”

Each Sunday has been a major part of summer for my husband and myself, along with friends, as we all look forward to the amazingly talented and varied musicians playing their own unique styles of music in your magnificent front garden. It’s a perfect Sunday afternoon in a beautiful setting with fantastic music.
