Together, We End Polio Together, We End Polio

On the 24th of October every year, Rotary members around the globe come together to commemorate World Polio Day, honoring the monumental work Rotary has done to combat polio In 2023, this day served as a powerful emblem of unity and support for Rotarians worldwide. Members took part in various activities such as illuminating local landmarks, planting purple crocuses, and proudly wearing End Polio Now shirts, all in honor of this significant occasion. Their collective efforts showcased a shared commitment and purpose

For close to four decades, Rotary has remained steadfast in its mission to eradicate polio, contributing over US$21 billion and countless volunteer hours to the cause. The impact of Rotary's efforts has been felt globally, with their work reaching every corner of the world In 1985, Rotary International made history by launching PolioPlus, the largest internationally coordinated privatesector support of a public health initiative This pioneering initiative continues to serve as a source of inspiration, guiding efforts to eradicate polio.

Since then, Rotary's contributions have led to a remarkable 99.9% reduction in the number of wild poliovirus cases per year, with only 8 cases of polio recorded in 2023 The celebrations in 2023 were a testament to the dedication of Rotarians and their allies, demonstrating the impactful strides made in the fight against polio.

For 2023, D3790 spun wheels, danced feet, and harmonious beats - ALL FOR A CAUSE! The 'Keep Polio at Zero: Ride Music Dance The charity event on October 23, 2023, held at Remy Field Subic Bay Freeport Zone, was an incredible event where Rotarians from District 3790 collaborated to work towards a world free from polio

End Polio Activities End Polio Activities

RC Narvacan proudly joined the global community in celebrating World Polio Day As part of the club's polio eradication initiative, they conducted a World End Polio awareness motorcade that started in Sulvec and ended at the RHU building in Brgy. Marga-ay Narvacan, Ilocos Sur The Rotarians of RC Narvacan, along with other volunteers, donned striking red shirts and carried banners with the End Polio Now campaign to raise awareness about the debilitating disease.

The motorcade was not just a display of support but also a powerful tool to educate the community The Rotarians and volunteers worked tirelessly to reach every corner of the town, informing people about the dangers of polio and the importance of vaccination

In line with the initiative, RC Narvacan, in collaboration with the employees of RHU Narvacan, conducted an anti-polio vaccination campaign The campaign aimed to boost immunization coverage by providing free doses of the oral polio vaccine to children under five years of age.

RC Narvacan's efforts are a testament to the club's unwavering commitment to eradicating polio and protecting the community against the disease. The world is on the brink of eradicating polio, and initiatives like this are vital to achieve that goal

Support to End Polio Fund Support to End Polio Fund

The Rotary, along with its partners, has made significant strides in the fight against polio over the years Since the launch of its first vaccination project in the Philippines in 1979, the organization has managed to reduce polio cases by an astonishing 999 percent worldwide This remarkable effort has resulted in the immunization of over 25 billion children across 122 countries, effectively protecting them from this debilitating disease for just $300 per child

Despite the Rotary Club of Narvacan's modest club size, its members have shown unwavering support for this crucial cause. Their collective donations of 10 USD each have earned the club the distinction of being an ALL-polio fundgiving club for the RY 2023-2024 period

Additionally, three of its members, namely Pres. Carlos Valera, PP Edwin Concepcion Jr., and PP Gigi Tesoro-Ramos have been dedicated Polio Plus Society Members, consistently contributing 100 USD annually to the global efforts aimed at eradicating polio.

On August 7, 2023, the Rotary Club of Narvacan held its Child Nutrition Assistance Project, distributing free nutritious food items and vitamins to needy children This meaningful endeavor occurred as part of the National Hospital Week Celebration 2023, a significant event held by the Ilocos Sur District HospitalNarvacan Ilocos Sur The hospital has been a valuable partner in supporting and implementing the Rotary Club's diverse projects, allowing for impactful and collaborative community outreach.

On September 13, 2023, a crucial blood donation drive took place at Paratong Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, organized by RC Narvacan and PGIS Theprimaryobjectiveofthiseventwastoprocureadiverse range of blood products to support the medical needs of patients at the Ilocos Sur District Hospital-Narvacan, particularly those requiring urgent transfusions Recognizing the significance of this initiative, the Rotarians not only actively contributed by donating blood themselves but also proactively engaged the wider community, rallying various groups to participate in this life-saving endeavor. This collaborative effort aimed to amplify the impact of the bloodletting activity and underscore the importance of collectivesupportforsuchnoblehumanitariancauses.
