In 1928, he listed three accomplishments that gave him “more satisfaction than any other contributionstoRotary” andlaunching the Foundation wasn’t among them Instead, he emphasized his pivotal role in writing Rotary’s Constitution in 1915, a document that not only established the framework for the organization but also gave Rotary International its first centralized power and made all the Objects and fundamentals of Rotary universal He also took pride in establishing attendance reports and being the first to insist on founding a Rotary International European branch office
KlumphwasborninthesmalltownofConneautville,Pennsylvania,USA,on6 June 1869 When he was a child, his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he would become a founding member of the Rotary Club of Cleveland in 1911. As club president in 1913, he foresaw the need for the club to build a reserve that would ensure its means to do future good work. This idea wouldstaywithhimashemovedontoserveRotaryinotherroles.
Five years after he became a Rotarian, Klumph was elected to serve as Rotary’s president for 1916-17. Near the end of his term, at the 1917 Rotary Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, he passionately reminded Rotarians that “Rotary is at the present time entering a new era, demanding improved methods in administrative machinery, with which to carry out the splendid principles which have been laid down heretofore” He defined six points of action, including the establishment of an endowment, which would later becomeTheRotaryFoundation:
“Carrying on, as we are, a miscellaneous community service, it seems eminently proper that we should accept endowments for the purpose of doing good in the world, in charitable, educational or other avenues of communityprogress,orsuchfundscouldbewellusedforextensionwork”
Through Klumph’s simple yet profound statement, the Rotary Endowment Fundwasborn Thiswasnotasimpletask,butonethatrequiredthesupport and dedication of many Rotarians In 1928, the name formally changed to The Rotary Foundation, and a Board of Trustees was established Klumph served as the first trustee chair from 1928 to 1935 Even after stepping down as chair, he remained dedicated to educating Rotary leaders and members about the importance of the Foundation and encouraging contributions

RC Narvacan's influence reaches far beyond their local community, as they actively participate in Rotary projects worldwide Their dual approach of engaging in hands-on projects and providing essential financial support exemplifies the depth of their dedication By consistently advocating for contributions to the TRF, they empower fellow Rotarians to effect substantial change in the lives of countless individuals. Whether it involves facilitating literacy programs, addressing hunger, administering crucial polio vaccinations, or facilitating life-saving surgeries, RC Narvacan's dedication to serving humanity is limitless
The Rotary Club of Narvacan has undertaken an inspiring journey to advance the cause of Safe Pregnancy and Child Care through its "Bida si Mommy at si Baby Project" scheduled for October 7, 2023, at Nativity Hospital, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur This impactful project aims to empower and educate expecting mothers on the crucial aspects of Safe Motherhood and Responsible Parenthood It underscores our community's tireless commitment to ensuring the well-being of mothers and children.
RC Narvacan's comprehensive efforts include providing prenatal check-ups, personalized medical advice, and essential Mommy and Baby kits for expectant mothers These thoughtful gestures reflect the deep care and support that our community extends to each and every member, particularly those in need of assistance This project is a poignant testament to the Rotary Club of Narvacan's ongoing dedication to fostering hope and holistic well-being within our community through tangible, meaningful initiatives
Playing chess is a powerful tool for improving cognitive abilities and academic performance Engaging in this strategic game increases IQ and promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and math and verbal skills Children who play chess tend to retain information better, have improved test scores, perform well in school, and are equipped with the ability to stay calm under pressure. Moreover, chess can help children connect and speak the same language, making it a valuable social activity that fosters communication and teamwork. In short, playing chess is an effective way to develop a range of skills essential for success in both academic and personal life
Aware of these benefits to the youth, the Rotary Club of Narvacan, in partnership with the Ilocos Sur Chess Club, launched a Free Chess Clinic and Mini Tournament for Kids in Narvacan Ilocos Sur last October 8, 2023 This activity was participated by both elementary and high students from Narvavcan and Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur, who eagerly learned chess They competed among themselves after taking basic lessons from Chess coach and Rotarian Roger Valdez, where winners received prices courtesy of RC Narvacan.
The Rotary Club of Narvacan proudly took part in the TRF Royal Banquet of District 3790, a lavish and elegant event that took place on November 25, 2023, at the exquisite Baguio Country Club, nestled in the picturesque city of Baguio.
This grand assembly was a heartfelt tribute to the exemplary Rotarians whose selfless generosity and tireless efforts have fueled the Rotary Foundation's noble cause Among the esteemed honorees were distinguished members of RC Narvacan, including the esteemed President Carlos Calera, the esteemed Past President Edwin Concepcion Jr., and the esteemed Executive Secretary Gigi Tesoro-Ramos. Their significant contributions and dedication have left an indelible mark on the Rotary community.
