GENERAL INFORMATION MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Freeport Park District is to promote the use of recreation in generating an exciting, dynamic quality of life by providing the highest quality facilities and programs to meet the ever-changing needs and interests of individuals of all ages and abilities. The Park District will preserve and protect land and resources for the enrichment of the community and future generations.

Any owner of real estate within the boundaries of the Freeport Park District and paying taxes to the Freeport Park District, but residing outside the boundaries of the Park District, shall receive the resident rate, as will his immediate family. Immediate family is defined as spouse and/or children residing with the property owner. Proof shall be required in the form of property tax bill and photo identification.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT If you need assistance in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, please contact the Freeport Park District Administration Center or state your need when registering for a Freeport Park District program.

PHOTO POLICY Occasionally, Park District staff may videotape or photograph participants enrolled in programs, classes, events or enjoying park facilities. These photographs are for Park District publications, flyers, brochures and future promotional materials.

All photos and videos taken on Park District property are for Park District use and become its sole property.

FINANCIAL AID The Freeport Park District recognizes the need within our community to provide assistance to residents who do not have the financial resources to participate in the fee-based services we provide.

Financial Aid is available for Freeport Park District residents who meet the District’s Financial Aid program guidelines. Financial Aid Guidelines and Application are available at the Freeport Park District Administration Center.

PROGRAM REGISTRATION

Registration for Park District Programs is Handled on a First-Come, First-Served Basis. The Importance of Registering Early Please note that each Freeport Park District program has a registration deadline that is listed in the program description. Registration deadlines are created to allow time for staff to determine if minimum enrollment is met, create schedules, order supplies and equipment, form rosters and organize other resources to ensure a successful program. Registration may not be accepted after the published registration deadline. Many Freeport Park District programs have a maximum capacity and fill up quickly. It is strongly encouraged to register early to guarantee enrollment in a program.

PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS The Freeport Park District reserves the right to cancel, postpone or combine classes.

If a refund request is made within two weeks (14 days) of the start of the class or program, only a partial reimbursement (less a $5 service charge and direct program expenses) will be issued. Refunds for bus trips (minus a $5 service charge) will be issued only for a documented medical emergency or if arrangements are made for someone to fill the opening. Cash refunds will not be issued once the class/program has begun. A Program Refund Request Form must be completed and submitted to the Park District Administration Center before a refund will be issued.

INCLUSION The Freeport Park District provides year-round opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate with their peers in general recreational programs. Inclusion opportunities are available to individuals of all ability levels and ages. If you or a family member would like to enroll in a Park District program and need assistance, simply request additional services at the time you register.

The request will be reviewed and the appropriate assistance determined. The Recreation Supervisor will monitor progress throughout the program by staying in direct contact with the individual or caregiver. The sooner we have the information about your request, the better chances are for a successful inclusion experience. Please provide at least two weeks notice prior to the start of the program date for an inclusion request. BEHAVIOR POLICY All participants attending Freeport Park District activities or using Freeport Park District facilities are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been created in order to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment for all participants. Additional rules and guidelines may vary for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

ALL PARTICIPANTS/PATRONS WILL: • Show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers.

• Follow program rules and take direction from recreation staff.

• Refrain from using abusive or foul language.

• Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self or others.

• Show respect for property, including equipment, supplies, and facilities.

• Not be in possession of weapons.

If Inappropriate Behavior Does Occur, Recreation Staff Will Attempt to Resolve the Problem Using the Following Conduct Model: • First offense – verbal warning.

• Second offense – time-out of activity and discussion with supervisor.

• Third offense – suspension of activity/facility privileges, removal from activity/facility for remainder of the day.

If a participant continues to refuse following directions of recreation staff or if the incident is an emergency, Police will be called and the participant may face further disciplinary action. The Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.

Special Events Krape Park Art Walk Saturday, August 15, 2026 • 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Krape Park

Calling all area artisans and enthusiasts of handmade art! This event will have artists and crafters from across the region gather to showcase and sell their finest work! Krape Park Art Walk will bring you a great collection of creative people, skilled makers, and a vast array of what is celebrated as handmade. Wing It! Glow Golf

Saturday, August 22, 2026 • 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm Wing It! Mini Golf Course, Krape Park Join us for a glow-tastic evening and play a round of mini-putt with glow-in-the-dark golf balls and complementary glow sticks to light up the night. This annual event promises fun for all ages and is sure to “putt” a smile on everyone’s face! Don’t miss this chance to tee off under the glow, open later this year! Admission fees apply.

Autumn Leaf Run

Saturday, October 3, 2026 • Race starts at 9:00 am Oakdale Nature Preserve Park Take in the spectacular scenery at the Autumn Leaf Run. It’s open to all ages and all skill levels of runners, walkers and nature enthusiasts. The 5K trail winds through diverse terrain including wide tree-lined trails, moderate hills, prairie areas, bridge crossings and several single-track trail sections. The start and finish lines will be in close proximity, and the race will be timed using a chip timing system. All proceeds go to the Freeport Parks Foundation to help fund upcoming projects.

Oakdale Fall Festival Saturday, October 3, 2026 • 12:00 - 4:00 pm Oakdale Nature Preserve Park

This fun family-friendly event will have something for everyone to appreciate! Explore our trails, complete a scavenger hunt, take a guided nature walk, sit fireside, listen to live music, and spend your afternoon at Oakdale! Adult Activities NEW! Lego Builders Parks Challenge Show off your creativity by building a Parks and Recreation-themed LEGO® display for a chance to win! Creations may depict 1. wildlife, 2. landscapes, 3. nature, 4. recreation, and people at play, sports, or any other park-inspired scene. Bring your completed LEGO® creation (maximum size: 12” tall x 12” wide x 12” deep) to the Freeport Park District Administration Center by September 11, 2026, and register your entry for just $10.

All entries will be displayed for public voting at the Administration Center from September 14 through October 2, 2026. Encourage your friends and family to stop by and vote! Prizes will be awarded based on the total number of votes received. The Grand Prize winner will receive a $50 Park Gift Certificate, while runners-up will receive Family Fun Packs to enjoy attractions and amenities at Krape Park. Build, display, vote, and celebrate the creativity of our community!

NEW! Photography Contest

Participants may submit up to two photos each. All photos must have been taken at a Freeport Park District park, event, or program.

Photos from any year are eligible; however, watermarked images will not be accepted.

To participate, entrants must sign a Waiver of Rights and Release Form. By submitting photos, participants grant the Freeport Park District permission to use the images in future publications, promotional materials, and advertising. Photos will be judged by the Administration Team with two winners each, in the following categories: 1. Wildlife 2. Landscapes 3. Nature 4. Recreation One winner and one runner-up will be selected in each category.

Category winners will receive a $50 gift certificate, and runners-up will receive a Family Fun Pack to enjoy attractions and amenities at Krape Park in 2027.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi Chuan is a gentle form of exercise for relaxation. Tai Chi can help reduce stress and physical aches while keeping your system strong. Kids will learn basic cheers, chants, motions, and simple routines while building confidence, teamwork, and new friendships in a positive and energetic environment. If you like water, this is the sport for you! Work with trained swim instructors to improve your overall performance. Practice swim strokes, starts, turns, and the overall rules of competition. Facilities & Park Rules Facility Rental/Reservation Policies A $100 deposit is required for all indoor facility rentals and is due at time of reservation purchase. Your deposit will be forfeited if you do not return the key, if there is any damage, or if excessive cleanup is required.

Reservations can only be made within each calendar year. A $50 surcharge will be added to your rental fee for all reservations outside the current calendar year up to 1 year in advance. An additional fee of $100 will be charged to groups of 150 or more utilizing a Park District facility.

Non-profit organizations planning to conduct fundraisers on Freeport Park District property must apply for a permit at the Administration Center in Read Park. If the organization is not renting a facility or paying a user fee, the organization will pay a flat rate of $50.

Park Usage Rules The complete Park District rules, regulation and ordinances, which govern public usage of Park property and facilities, are available at the Administration Center or online at www.freeportparkdistrict.org/ information/additional-informationresources/. Tickets may be issued for violating regulations. Penalties vary.

Park fines are determined by violation classifications: (A), (B), (C), and (D). Maximum fine is $500.

• Park Sites shall be open to the public from dawn until dusk, or as posted (Class C).

• Pedestrians and bicyclists always have the right of way over motor vehicles. (B) • Park patrons may feed the white domesticated ducks in Krape Park.

Feeding wild ducks and geese or any other wild animal is prohibited. (D) • Under no circumstances are temporary signs, balloons or any other items to be pinned, stapled or otherwise attached or placed on any tree, park sign or along the roadway. This action will be considered littering. (C) • Motor vehicles are restricted to roadways, parking lots or designated parking areas only. Vehicles are not permitted on park walkways or trails at any time. This prohibition includes loading and unloading purposes. (B) • Fires are only allowed in designated metal fireplaces that are provided by the District. Use of all privately owned grills (gas or charcoal) is not permitted without prior approval from the District. Use of gas grills will require a certificate of insurance from your homeowner insurance carrier naming the Park District as additionally insured. (A) • Tents, nets or canopy structures are not permitted without prior approval from the Administration Office. (B) • Picnics and events utilizing third party suppliers (tent rental, caterers, etc.) must be approved by the Park District in advance and may require the purchase of a liability insurance policy naming the Park District as additionally insured for the duration of the event including setup and breakdown dates.

The use of all third-party suppliers require at least 30 days advance notice to the event.

• The use of amplified sound (public address systems, radios, boom box, musical instruments) is prohibited unless authorized in writing by the Executive Director. Groups seeking authorization should consider use of the Koenig Amphitheater. (B) • The use of profane, abusive or loud, boisterous language or conducting oneself in a disorderly manner is prohibited. (A) • Activities that damage or disturb any natural or man-made feature are prohibited. (A) • Possession or consumption of alcohol, cannabis, and/or illegal drugs is prohibited. (A) • The possession or discharge of firearms, fireworks or explosives is prohibited. (A) • Wading or swimming in all district creeks and ponds is prohibited.
