Stephenson County Historical Society has something of interest for anyone interested in local history. It is a destination well worth discovering.

• A beautiful, 3-acre arboretum with gardens to stroll through

• Oscar Taylor mansion built in 1857, chronicles early life in Freeport

• Irish homestead log cabin built in 1840’s

• Millerburg one-room school house

• The Museum of Industrial Heritage showcases the manufacturing history of Freeport and Stephenson County

• National Museum of Arcade Toys features the world’s largest collection made by Freeport’s famous Arcade Manufacturing Company

• Museum gift shop featuring Rawleigh products, books on local subjects, and Freeport souvenir items.

• A resource library filled with books, papers, and photographs related to local history (open Monday-Friday by appointment only)

Museum Hours: Friday through Sunday, Noon to 4:00 pm (Subject to change-check website at www. stephcohs.org) Last tour begins at 2:30 pm. Additional times by appointment. Group tours available.

Admission: $8.00 adults; $4.00 Children (6-12 years). Free to Historical Society members.
