The Corey Goodnature Memorial Golf Classic Scholarship Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank Albert Lea and Freeborn County for being such a supportive and generous community! We were blessed once again with an outpouring of support for this annual event that honors the memory of Corey Goodnature who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 as part of Operation Red Wings.

For those who may not know, the goal of the annual Corey Goodnature Memorial Golf Classic is to make a difference in the lives of local young adults through educational scholarships provided by donations raised at this event.

This year’s event marked the 10th year since the loss of Corey in that mission. We were honored to have special guests who included the seven fellow 160th SOAR service members and their families as well as Corey’s widow Lori Goodnature Foran; stories of Corey were shared, tears were shed, memories were made and Corey’s legacy lives on - THANK YOU! Again we thank those of you who have supported this event year after year as well as those who may have attended for the first time, and everyone in between. We would also like to thank Jeff Elseth and Green Lea Golf Course for their continued generosity and support all these years!

Joy Bliss was appointed “Minnesota ’s Deputy Grand Regent” for the fraternal organization of “Women of the Moose”

She was appointed to this position by Grand Chancellor Barbara McPherson at the International Conference of the Fraternal Organization of the Moose in Nashville, Tennessee in July 2015.

Joy joined the Women of the Moose at Albert Lea, MN Chapter 1364 in 2005.

As a member of the Moose 25 club Joy earned her Academy of Friendship degree in February of 2008, the Star Recorder degree in May of 2009 and served as Sr. Regent earning her College of Regents degree May of 2013.

Joy was appointed as Chapter Chairman of MN Moose Charities by the International Director of Moose Charities Jan Fregulia in 2013.

Ms. Bliss will accept her new role as Deputy Grand Regent at the MN Moose Association ‘s Annual convention to be held in St. Cloud, MN September 17-21st 2015.

Shell Rock River Watershed Appointment The Freeborn County Board of Commissioners will accept letters of interest from individuals who would like to be appointed to the Shell Rock River Watershed Board of Managers.

The appointment of one (1) Manager will be made for a term ending June 30, 2016. This position requires you be a voting resident of the Shell Rock River Watershed District. If you are interested in serving on the Shell Rock River Watershed Board of Managers you should send a letter of interest outlining your qualifications to the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners, PO Box 1147, Albert Lea, MN 56007. The appointment will be made at the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners meeting held on September 15, 2015 in the County Boardroom, second floor Historic 1887 Courthouse, Freeborn County Government Center. The Corey Goodnature Memorial Golf Classic Scholarship Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank Albert Lea and Freeborn County for being such a supportive and generous community! We were blessed once again with an outpouring of support for this annual event that honors the memory of Corey Goodnature who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 as part of Operation Red Wings.

For those who may not know, the goal of the annual Corey Goodnature Memorial Golf Classic is to make a difference in the lives of local young adults through educational scholarships provided by donations raised at this event.

This year’s event marked the 10th year since the loss of Corey in that mission. We were honored to have special guests who included the seven fellow 160th SOAR service members and their families as well as Corey’s widow Lori Goodnature Foran; stories of Corey were shared, tears were shed, memories were made and Corey’s legacy lives on - THANK YOU! Again we thank those of you who have supported this event year after year as well as those who may have attended for the first time, and everyone in between. We would also like to thank Jeff Elseth and Green Lea Golf Course for their continued generosity and support all these years!
