Don’t Forget...Safety First! Take special precaution this year with much of the corn crops still in the fields. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. Always point the muzzle in a safe direction. Be certain of your target, and what’s beyond it. Keep your finger outside the trigger guard & off the trigger until ready to shoot. All firearm hunters must wear blaze orange visiable from all sides. All hunters, including archers, must comply during gun season. Control your emotions when it comes to safety. If you lose control of your emotions you may do something carelessly. If you have just shot a target or animal you probably will be excited. Always let someone know where you are hunting and when you plan on returning. Don’t drink alcohol or take drugs before or while handling firearms or bow and arrows. Be aware of additional circumstances which require added caution or safety awareness. Just because something isn’t listed under these “ten commandments of shooting safety” doesn’t mean you can ignore it if it is dangerous. Ensure a safe future for you, others and the shooting sports!

Honey-Baked Apples Ingredients: From the kitchen of: Blue Zones Project® Directions: Cut apples in half lengthwise. Use spoon to remove cores and hollow out a space 1 inch or more deep. Arrange apple halves, cut sides up, on microwavable dish. Cut thin slices off bottoms to keep from tipping. Combine honey, cinnamon, oatmeal, raisins, and nuts. Fill each apple half. Cover with plastic wrap. Fold back one edge ¼ inch to vent steam. Microwave 3 to 3 ½ minutes, or until apples can be cut easily. Take from microwave. Let sit a few minutes.
