Evening With A Cop

FXBG Safety Programs

All Ages

We have teamed up with the Fredericksburg Police Department to bring a unique safety program series to the community. Explore a new topic each month and learn about the Police Department and their functions, along with safety and awareness. Pre-registration required. Instructor: FXBG Police Department and Parks, Recreation and Events Staff. Location: Dorothy Hart Community Center.

Bike Safety: September 14, 5pm-7pm

Come and learn basic bike safety, including traffic rules, with the Fredericksburg Police Department. While there, get your helmet checked and show off your newly learned skills. Bring a bike and helmet.

K9: October 12, 5pm-7pm

Learn about K9 teams, what their functions are and how they play a vital role within the community.

Kid Detectives: November 9, 5pm-7pm

Learn about the overall view of detectives and the types of cases they work, the evidence collections and kits and the various supplies/tools they use.

Performing Arts By Mia Ray Productions

Ages 6 – 11 years

Does your child have what it takes to be a star? Mia Ray Productions would like to inspire and empower students ages 7-17 to follow their dreams. Your students will learn audition techniques, monologues, scene study basics, and more. We will also work on building your child’s confidence so they are ready to showcase their talents. Safe Sitter Certification

Ages 12 - 16 years

Babysitting is a big responsibility and you want to make sure you are ready for the task. Join us and learn all that you need to know to be a Safe Sitter. Participants will learn about safety, CPR and First Aid, childcare basics, as well as life and business skills. They will receive their “Safe Sitter” Certification upon completing this course as well as their CPR/First Aid Certification. Instructor: Charline Cooke. Location: Dorothy Hart Community Center.

Session A: September 16, 9am – 4pm

Session B: Dec. 21, 9am – 1pm, Dec. 22, 9am – 12pm

$125 for residents/$130 for non-residents

Safe At Home

Ages 10 - 14 years

Is your child ready to stay home alone? This 2-hour program will teach participants how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures and weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illness. Instructor: Charline Cooke. Location: Dorothy Hart Community Center.

LEGOS® WITH PLAY-WELL TEKNOLOGIES

Ages 5-7

Session A: Minecraft Engineering using LEGO® Materials

October 9, 9am – 12pm

Venture into the world of Minecraft in our unique LEGO® experience. Get ready to build your base, craft your tools, use your Minecart to harvest raw resources, and battle to stop the Ender Dragon from ending the world. Come explore the endless possibilities of LEGO® with a trained Play-Well instructor.

Session B: Mandalorian Training using LEGO® Materials

November 10, 9am – 12pm

Here’s our chance to join our friends and learn what it takes to become a true Mandalorian. Using LEGO®, an experienced instructor will guide us through the skills and equipment needed to earn the title. We will build our gauntlet fighter ship to weave through the galaxy, our Z-6 jetpacks to maneuver through the air, and of course defend ourselves with our Mandalorian armor. Coming to a galaxy near you! Instructor: Play-Well. Location: Dorothy Hart Community Center.
