HOW TO REGISTER REGISTRATION

• Fees must be paid in full at registration. • $50 fee for returned checks. • We reserve the right to cancel programs for insufficient enrollment. • Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express cards accepted. • Debit cards must carry the Visa logo to be accepted. • Checks are only accepted two weeks prior to activity/rental. • All programs have a minimum and maximum enrollment. We reserve the right to require age verification for children in our programs.

A wait list will be created when a program has reached its maximum participant capacity. All in-person and mail-in registrants will be put on the waiting list unless otherwise requested. If a space becomes available and a person’s waiting list status changes, you will be contacted by the department. Waiting lists do not roll over from previous, different sessions. Please plan to register for activities as early as possible. Many activities fill up quickly.

CANCELLATIONS

Our Parks, Recreation & Events Department reserves the right to cancel sports practices and games. Please register for FredAlerts to get notices about cancellations and registration deadlines. www.FredericksburgAlert.com Cancellations are announced on Facebook and by Fred Alerts.

• Individuals wishing to withdraw and/ or requesting a refund must do so by contacting the Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation & Events Department by phone, fax, mail, or in person. • Individuals must follow up their verbal cancellation request with a written refund request and submit it to FPRE prior to cancellation deadlines. • It is the participant’s responsibility to verify receipt of refund requests.

• There will be no refunds given to those who withdraw after program start date.

• Refunds will require 4 weeks for processing unless paid by credit card. Credit card refunds will take 5 business days to process. • If the department cancels a program or trip, the money will be refunded. • Programs (classes & camps): Cancellation requests less than two weeks (14 days) before program start date are eligible for a 50% refund. There are no refunds on cancellations less than 7 days before program start date. There will be no refunds given to those who withdraw after program start date. • Trips: Registrants who cancel on or before the posted cancellation date shall receive a full refund. After that date, money will be refunded ONLY if the slot is filled by another participant. • Sports: No refunds will be made after the 1st game. • Rentals: There is a 15% cancellation fee on all rentals. • Changes to these policies will be posted online and at the Dorothy Hart Community Center.

SKATE NIGHTS

All Ages Skate Night is a fun, high-energy community event where people of all ages can come together to enjoy music, movement, and a lively atmosphere. Skaters of all skill levels are welcome, with a mix of open skating, themed activities, and opportunities to socialize both on and off the rink. It’s a great way to stay active, connect with others, and create a memorable night full of music, laughter, and good vibes. PARKS FOR POLLINATORS BIOBLITZ

All Ages Help Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation & Events answer the challenge given by NRPA and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation to get involved and host a pollinator BioBlitz during the month of September. To participate, use your iNaturalist account through the iNaturalist or Seek app to take pictures of plants, insects, and other pollinators to see what life is present in the city. This event will provide our community with more information about local pollinators, which are essential to our ecosystem. To view the progress, visit: https://bit.ly/4ehoL7k. CAMPOUT IN THE PARK

All Ages Bring out the family for a fun night in the park. You will have the chance to camp at Motts Run Reservoir, enjoy s’mores on the campfire, and more! Space is limited so register early. All meals and activity materials are provided, but you are responsible for your own tent and camping supplies (a supply list and additional information will be emailed upon registration). FIRST DAY HIKE

PARK AFTER DARK

All Ages Start your New Year on the right foot by spending the day out in nature! Bring all your friends and family to this FREE event to visit the Nature Center, participate in fun activities, explore any of the 20 miles of trails at Motts Run Reservoir, and maybe even enjoy a hot drink! The gate will be unlocked from 9am-3pm for this special event. Friday, January 1, 2027 at 9am-3pm Location: Motts Run Reservoir FREE; pre-registration is encouraged

Ages 5+ Gather under the trees at Memorial Park after dark for an evening of spooky, family-friendly stories. Earthquest (www.Earthquest. org) will bring a vulture or two to allow everyone to learn more about these feathered friends before storytellers from the Central Rappahannock Regional Libraries (librarypoint.org) lead us through tall tales of all kinds. Bring a chair and maybe a blanket for this spookily fun evening. Family-friendly for ages 5 and up. MOM & DAUGHTER PAJAMA PARTY

Ages 6+ Enjoy a fun evening of Mommy-Daughter bonding and making friends with others. Come wearing your PJs and plan to have fun with games, crafts, dinner, and a movie. All moms, grandmas, big sisters, and other mom figures welcome! All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Ratio limited to 3 kids per adult. PUZZLOOZA

Ages 10+ How are your puzzle skills? Gather a team (up to 4) of your best puzzlers to race against the clock (and other teams!) to finish a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. Every team will be given the same puzzle and will be able to take it home with them after the event. Refreshments and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be provided. Ages 6 months-5 yrs Come and play with us! The space is open and ready for you to bounce a ball, chase your friends, or even jump in one of the bouncy houses! Enjoy quality, unstructured play with your child in a safe and lively environment. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 3-5 yrs Calling all Junior scientists! Littlest Lab Coats introduces preschoolers to STEM through hands on experiments, sensory exploration, and playful discovery. Each themed session sparks curiosity while building early science skills in a fun age-appropriate way. From mixing and measuring to observing and predicting, your little learner will love getting hands on with science! All children must be accompanied by an adult. LOG CABIN STORYTIME

Ages 2+ Bring your favorite stuffy and adult to snuggle up with as we enjoy nature stories in our log cabin Nature Center at Motts Run Reservoir. We will gather in our cozy reading corner and enjoy a few stories together. After reading, we will do a nature craft related to the story and then finish outside for some nature play time! All children must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 2-3 yrs Tot Soccer helps kids develop in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. Focusing on social skills, motor skill development, sports skill building, and FUN. Age-appropriate games build skills and self-esteem, preparing tots to start running and kicking – just like the big kids! Tot-Soccer classes are 45 minutes long and meet once a week. PRESCHOOL YOGA & MINDFUL MOVEMENT

Ages 2-5 yrs Preschoolers will enjoy a playful yoga class using movement, imagination, breathing, simple mindfulness, and relaxation. Children will build balance, coordination, body awareness, confidence, and early self-regulation skills in a fun and supportive environment. Children may bring a favorite small stuffed animal or lightweight toy, along with a small blanket or towel for relaxation time. Caregivers are not required to participate, but must remain nearby/on site during class. Only registered children may participate. Ages 2-5 yrs Get ready to sing, shake, and move! Tiny tunes introduces toddlers to the joy of music through rhythm, movement, and interactive songs. Each class encourages self-expression while building coordination and listening skills. Whether they’re shaking a tambourine or dancing along, your little one is sure to have a blast. All children must be accompanied by an adult. LITTLE LEGS RUN CLUB

Ages 3-6 yrs Lace up those sneakers, it’s more than just a run! This structured program builds real skills in little runners. Each session meets a different Fredericksburg Park with a purpose: from conquering trails, to learning how to run safely in the city. Kids build endurance, confidence, and a love of the outdoors week by week, finishing with a short celebratory race at the final session! Parent participation is required. Ages 4-7 yrs Grab your hard hats and put those creative minds to work! Kids are invited to join staff and discover more about tools and how to build things. Each session will include a different project that should be finished to take home. Every child should be accompanied by an adult to assist with their project. All tools and supplies are provided. STUFFY CAMPOUT (FOR THE AFTERNOON!)

Ages 3-6 yrs This program is geared towards littles who love camping, but may not be ready for the whole weekend trip yet or maybe you haven’t had time to get out camping recently! We will spend the afternoon participating in traditional camping activities, including tent time, a short hike, campfire stories, and more! Participants are welcome to bring their favorite stuffy along with them. We will close our time together by making s’mores around a campfire. This program will include both indoor and outdoor components– please dress for the weather and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes! NATURE & ME TOTS PLAYGROUP

Ages 16-35 mos Ready for an outdoor adventure? This 16-week program offers an inclusive, playful community for toddlers and caregivers to connect and dive into nature discovery! Led by Justine, your natural learning and early development guide, we’ll enjoy nature walks, unstructured play, seasonal songs, storytime, and themed crafts while sharing easy ways to bring nature-based learning into your everyday life. Come ﬁnd your village and let’s explore the great outdoors together - the natural way! WILD SPROUTS NATURE CLUB FOR PRESCHOOLERS Ages 3-5 yrs Let's head outside and explore! Grab your preschooler and join Justine, a nature-based early childhood educator, to explore the wild wonders of Motts Run and Alum Spring. Every week brings a brand-new journey ﬁlled with child-led hikes, boundless unstructured playtime, tasty snacks, and a cozy circle time packed with nature stories, songs, and hands-on crafts. Watch your little one’s conﬁdence soar as they discover, play, and fall in love with nature study! Ages 2-8 yrs Enjoy bedtime stories and a craft at the Nature Center before leaving your stuffed friend for a fun sleepover at Motts Run Reservoir. Come back the next morning to pick up your stuffy, enjoy a muffin, and find out all about what they were up to the night before! Craft supplies and party favors are included. Limited to one stuffy per registrant. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 5+ Did you know that spiders taste their prey using the hairs on their legs? Come learn more about these amazing arachnids at Motts Nature Center! We will go on a spider hunt and explore the different adaptations spiders use to survive. Hopefully we can convince you to let these helpful bugs stay in their webs around your house! Children should be accompanied by an adult. Saturday, October 3 at 1:30-3pm Location: Motts Run Nature Center $6/person (children and adults), Pre-registration required. Ages 5-8 yrs Have you ever wondered what kinds of trees are all around you? In this program, we will explore the many parts of a tree, including leaves, bark, and seeds, and explore the life cycle of a tree. We will go on a short hike to identify some of the local trees in our parks, and gather supplies to create a model of your child’s favorite tree. Please wear comfortable shoes for walking and dress for the weather! Children should be accompanied by an adult. Ages 8-17 yrs Set, aim, and shoot! Beginners are welcome to take part in this fun activity while learning the basics of shooting a bow and arrow, from safety to actually firing. All equipment is provided. All participants must wear closed-toed shoes and be accompanied by an adult. Ages 7-12 yrs Nothing is more satisfying than whacking a ball with a field hockey stick. But field hockey lets you dribble, flick, roll, and pass that ball too! GROWING UP WILD WORKSHOP

Ages 18+ Growing Up WILD is an early childhood curriculum that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. ADVANCED DOG MANNERS

Ages 16+ Instructor Sarah Ferrell teaches positive reinforcement techniques for longer sits, relaxed walks, and quick “Come!” commands, even with distractions. Ideal for those who completed basic training and want to boost their obedience, this class covers all ten AKC CGC tasks (not the test itself) and offers practice for the AKC Novice Obedience.
